Chapter 1011: Reaction
Chapter 1011: Reaction
This was not some innocent person caught in unfortunate circumstances. The Third Prince had ruined countless lives simply because he could. To him, people had merely been tools, toys, and stepping stones.
Perhaps it was exactly because of his father that he had grown into this sort of person.
Thinking this, Michael could not help comparing the emperor to the old Lionheart King. The old king had been far weaker than the Black Serpent Emperor. In terms of power alone, the two were worlds apart.
Even as a father, the old king could not truly be called perfect either, but in Michael’s opinion that old man was still worthy of respect. At the very least, he had genuinely cared about his children.
As for the emperor, Michael’s eyes turned slightly colder. Compared to the old king, that man felt more like a monster wearing human skin.
Eventually, Michael lost interest in the Third Prince completely. Without bothering to continue further, Michael calmly raised his hand.
A tiny black flame appeared above his fingertips. Spartan’s Abyss Flame.
The flame drifted slowly downward before entering the Third Prince’s forehead silently. The prince’s weak twitching stopped almost instantly. Then gradually, his body began turning into black ash. Within moments, nothing remained behind.
Seeing this, Michael remained silent briefly. "In this way, Arianne has finally been avenged."
Afterward, Michael turned toward Master Veyl.
Michael did not enjoy hurting innocents simply because they belonged to the empire. However, from the memories he had read from the guardian, this old man was not innocent.
In the end, Michael gave him the same ending. A black flame descended quietly. Soon afterward, only ash remained within the broken forest.
The surroundings finally fell silent completely.
Standing amidst the destroyed earth, Michael could not help narrowing his eyes slightly. The people he had encountered from the empire so far, not one of them could truly be considered good.
At this point, Michael honestly began wondering if there were even any clean people left within the upper levels of the Black Serpent Empire at all.
Eventually, Michael turned his gaze toward Wisdom resting calmly on his shoulder. The owl blinked slowly. Michael gently stroked its feathers afterward.
"...Let’s go."
Wisdom let out a soft cry. The next instant, space folded quietly around the two of them before both figures disappeared from the destroyed forest entirely. Only ashes and ruins remained behind.
Meanwhile, far away within the Black Serpent Empire, inside an incomparably luxurious office decorated with black gold and ancient-looking carvings, a terrifying aura suddenly exploded outward violently.
BOOOOOOM!!!
The surrounding space distorted instantly. Not far away, two guards suddenly screamed miserably.
"AAAHH...!"
Blood exploded from multiple places across their bodies as invisible pressure crushed down upon them mercilessly. Both men collapsed heavily onto the ground while trembling violently.
At the center of the room stood a middle-aged man wearing black imperial robes.
If Michael were present, he would immediately recognize him. The Black Serpent Emperor.
At this moment, the emperor’s face looked incomparably cold. His eyes carried terrifying fury. The atmosphere throughout the room had become so oppressive that ordinary people would likely suffocate instantly upon entering.
However, just as the emperor’s aura continued spreading uncontrollably, a figure silently emerged from the shadows nearby. An old man dressed in black robes.
The old man bowed deeply immediately after appearing. "Your Majesty." His voice remained calm and respectful. "What has angered you so greatly?"
The emperor slowly closed his eyes afterward. Several seconds later, the terrifying pressure filling the room gradually receded. The emperor, however, did not answer.
The old man did not seem bothered by the silence at all. Instead, he merely turned toward the two heavily injured guards still kneeling on the floor. "You may leave and recover your injuries," the old man said calmly.
The two guards immediately bowed their heads deeply despite blood still dripping from their wounds. "Yes, Eunuch Liang."
Neither dared to say anything else. Very quickly, both men retreated from the office trembling.
Only after they disappeared completely did Eunuch Liang bow toward the emperor once more. For several seconds, the emperor maintained his silence while Eunuch Liang remained bowed respectfully without moving in the slightest.
The office had already fallen completely silent again. Only the faint crackling sounds from shattered furniture occasionally echoed through the room.
Eventually, the emperor finally spoke. "...The Third Prince is dead."
Eunuch Liang’s calm expression finally changed slightly. Surprise flickered across the old eunuch’s eyes.
He did not question how the emperor knew. There was no need. At their level, many strange methods existed. Since the emperor had said the prince was dead, then he was undoubtedly dead.
Immediately, Eunuch Liang’s tone became considerably graver. "...Could there be a connection between the Third Prince’s death and Young Prince Rui’s previous death?"
The emperor remained silent briefly afterward. "...It is possible."
Eunuch Liang’s brows furrowed deeply. "That is troublesome."
The old eunuch slowly lowered his head slightly in thought. The Black Serpent Empire possessed very few true enemies. However, every single one of those enemies was extremely terrifying.
For someone to repeatedly target imperial princes, this was no longer a small matter.
Eunuch Liang’s eyes darkened faintly. "...Who would dare go this far against the imperial family?" he muttered slowly. "Are they truly not afraid of starting a war with the empire?"
The emperor’s eyes turned cold afterward. "...Perhaps war is exactly what they want."
Eunuch Liang immediately raised his head.
The emperor slowly recounted everything that had happened through the mental imprint inside the Third Prince. From Michael’s intrusion into the prince’s consciousness, to the mental confrontation, to the destruction of the prince’s mind.
The more Eunuch Liang listened, the graver his expression became. Especially after hearing that the mysterious figure had actually resisted and fought evenly against the emperor’s mental imprint for a period of time.
Finally, the emperor’s voice slowly echoed through the office once more. "That figure..."
The emperor’s eyes narrowed coldly. "...Was no weaker than the two of us."
