Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1062: Worries

Chapter 1062: Worries

Satisfied, Aunt Mia nodded.

Michael watched the scene silently and wisely chose not to interfere. Even if Lily could subdue a hundred men with one hand, in this house, Aunt Mia's glare still held authority.

After dealing with Lily, Aunt Mia's gaze naturally moved toward Michael.

"Where is Arianne?"

Michael's hand holding his spoon stopped for half a second before continuing normally.

"She has something to do, so she won't be around for a while."

"Oh."

Aunt Mia's tone carried a trace of disappointment.

Lily also looked up.

"She's not coming today?"

"No."

Lily's expression fell slightly. Over the past few days, Arianne's presence had made the house strangely lively.

She couldn't speak their language properly, and most conversations required Michael to translate, but that somehow made things more interesting rather than awkward.

Aunt Mia had also grown curious about her. How could she not? The girl was beautiful, polite, strangely innocent, and carried an air that was clearly not ordinary.

More importantly, there was the atmosphere between her and Michael. Aunt Mia was not blind. Neither was Lily. Even if neither of them asked directly, both had noticed the subtle changes.

Only Jester seemed to want nothing to do with the matter. Or rather, Jester seemed to deliberately ignore it.

"Will she be back?" Lily asked.

Michael nodded.

"Eventually."

Aunt Mia smiled lightly.

"She's a sweet girl."

Michael coughed.

"She is."

Aunt Mia looked at him for a moment longer, her smile gaining a faintly meaningful edge. Michael immediately lowered his gaze to his food. Seeing his reaction, Aunt Mia's smile widened slightly, but she did not press further.

Truthfully, Michael would have liked to spend more time with Arianne in Aurora as well. However, he understood that a visitor should not overstay their welcome.

Three days had already been enough to introduce her to his family and allow them to grow familiar with her presence.

Arianne's situation was different from Jester's. Jester could pass as a family relative, but Arianne was different. Her lack of understanding of Aurora made her stand out even more. So, for now, it was better to let her return to the Land of Origin.

Michael took another bite of food. Across the table, Lily continued eating with visible reluctance.

Aunt Mia glanced at the clock.

"Five more minutes."

Lily froze.

"But—"

Aunt Mia looked at her. Lily immediately swallowed the rest of her complaint.

"Yes, ma."

Michael nearly laughed. Jester remained expressionless.

A few minutes later, Lily finally stood up with her school bag. Compared to her usual energy, she looked unusually stiff.

Aunt Mia walked over and adjusted her collar.

"Don't be nervous." Aunt Mia smiled gently.

Lily lowered her head slightly.

Michael stood as well.

"I'll go with you."

Lily immediately looked at him.

"You will?"

Michael raised an eyebrow.

"Of course. Taking you to school is much faster with me, no?"

Some of the tension on Lily's face disappeared. Then she glanced at Jester.

Jester looked back at her. After a moment, he said calmly, "Do well."

Lily smiled again.

"I will."

Michael looked toward Aunt Mia.

"We'll be back later."

Aunt Mia nodded.

"Take care of her."

Michael smiled.

"I will."

Soon after, Michael and Lily left the house together. The moment the door closed behind them, Lily took a deep breath.

Michael glanced at her.

"Nervous?"

"…Yes."

Michael laughed softly.

"Just accept whatever comes to you, and you'll be fine as long as you're open to any possibility. For hundreds of years everyone in Aurora has gone through this, and regardless of the results, life continued. Right?"

Lily was silent for a moment before nodding. The two continued walking.

Outside, the city was already unusually lively. Students in uniforms could be seen everywhere, each heading toward their respective schools.

Some looked excited. Others looked terrified. Some moved in groups, loudly discussing what class they hoped to awaken. Parents stood at gates, roadsides, and bus stops, offering advice even when their children clearly did not want to hear it.

The entire city seemed to be holding its breath. Today, countless lives would change. Some for the better. Some for worse. And some would remain exactly the same.

Lily looked at the streets. Then at Michael.

"What if I don't awaken?"

Michael's answer came immediately.

"Then nothing changes." He continued walking. "You'll still be Lily."

Lily smiled faintly.

"Mm."

The two walked a few more steps until they reached a dark alley, where Michael immediately used his spatial powers.

After dropping Lily off at her school and saying goodbye, Michael did not immediately leave. Instead he went to settle in a nearby establishment and waited until noon.

Regardless of the result from Lily's awakening, he needed to leave Aurora soon. A little anxious, and not wanting to spend the rest of his day at home or do anything else, he figured he'd just wait to see the result of his cousin's awakening himself.

Inside school, Lily behaved no differently than usual. At least on the surface. She chatted with her classmates when they spoke to her. To anyone watching, she appeared completely normal.

Only Lily knew that her thoughts had barely stayed inside the classroom all morning. Every few minutes, her eyes drifted toward the clock. Every few minutes, she found herself wondering the same thing.

Would she awaken?

The question repeated itself endlessly. Fortunately, she wasn't alone. Today, almost the entire class was distracted. Even students who normally slept through lessons were paying attention to the time.

Every once in a while, whispers broke out.

"What class do you think you'll get?"

"I just want to awaken."

The discussions never stopped. As the hours passed, the atmosphere gradually grew more tense.

Even the teachers seemed distracted. After all, an Awakening Ceremony wasn't only important for students. Teachers felt nervous too. Every awakened student improved a school's reputation.

By the time noon finally arrived, almost nobody could focus anymore.

Then the classroom door opened. Instantly, every conversation stopped.

The homeroom teacher entered. Floating beside her was a small anti-gravity platform. Resting atop it was an orb roughly the size of a human head.
