Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1132: Clone Registration

Chapter 1132: Clone Registration

Of course, for something like this, not everything was sunshine.

The first trial offered by the Awakening Temple was completely safe. Regardless of whether one succeeded or failed, their life would never be endangered. Failure simply meant leaving empty-handed.

However, any subsequent attempt was different. Not only would it consume considerably more Origin Energy, it also carried genuine danger, including the possibility of death.

Those who challenged the trial a second time would no longer receive the temple's protection. Failure could very well cost them their lives.

Michael slowly nodded.

"Fair enough."

If repeated attempts carried no consequences, people would simply challenge the temple over and over until they eventually succeeded.

This limitation prevented exactly that. More importantly, it preserved the value of awakening itself.

His gaze swept across the spacious hall one final time. Then another realization struck him.

"So that's why registration exists."

Earlier, he hadn't fully understood why individuals needed to be registered under his Universal Cornerstone. Now he did. Only registered individuals could receive the benefits provided by structures within the territory.

Even the lowest status, Commoner, was sufficient. Without becoming at least a registered commoner, no one could use the Awakening Temple.

In other words, every special building the Universal Cornerstone created would likely require some form of registration before granting its benefits.

"It seems becoming part of the territory isn't just symbolic."

It was a genuine prerequisite.

Unfortunately, after another careful inspection, Michael discovered that the Level One Awakening Temple contained nothing else.

Its sole purpose at its current level was to provide the Trial of Awakening. Simple. Yet unimaginably valuable.

Michael observed the temple for several more seconds before turning around and walking toward the entrance.

There were less than three minutes remaining before he would be forced to leave the Origin Battlefield. He still had a few final arrangements to make.

As for what protections he could leave behind, Michael wasn't particularly worried. Now that the Universal Cornerstone had been claimed, it possessed its own defensive measures.

According to the information it had provided, the territory was protected by a defensive barrier centered around the Universal Cornerstone itself. Its strength depended entirely on energy, specifically the mana accumulated within the Cornerstone.

As long as sufficient mana remained, the barrier could withstand any attack directed at it.

Michael didn't doubt the claim too much. After all, if even a Level One Universal Cornerstone possessed abilities capable of producing structures like the Awakening Temple and allowing direct trade with the Origin Will, a defensive barrier capable of resisting attacks wasn't difficult to believe.

However, every defense had its limit. Once the stored mana was exhausted, the barrier would disappear.

After that, whatever happened would happen. Michael had no intention of relying entirely on a single defensive mechanism. Barriers were meant to buy time. Not solve every problem.

To prevent the worst-case scenario, Michael decided leaving several undead behind was the safest option. Even if someone somehow slipped past the barrier, or waited until its energy had been exhausted, they would still need to face Rank Four undead guarding the territory.

One should never underestimate awakeners. The universe contained countless bizarre classes with equally bizarre traits.

Even Michael himself possessed more than one method of bypassing what ordinary people considered impossible.

Who knew what equally troublesome abilities another awakener might possess?

"It never hurts to be cautious."

Many of the undead around him silently dispersed. Some hid beneath the earth. Others concealed themselves within nearby forests. Several took to the skies.

The remainder stationed themselves around both the Universal Cornerstone and the Awakening Temple.

From the surface, the territory appeared almost deserted. Yet Michael knew that countless pairs of eyes were now watching every direction.

"That should do."

He nodded in satisfaction. Still, he wasn't completely satisfied. Physical protection alone wasn't enough. What if something unexpected happened while he was in the real world? He couldn't constantly travel back and forth every time he wanted to inspect his territory. That would be far too inconvenient.

"It would be nice if I could manage things remotely…"

Fortunately, he already had a solution. Though he could enter the Mausoleum of Endless Dominion, that didn't mean he couldn't bring something out of it.

With a thought, a figure appeared before him. It was his other body, the one created in the Land of Origin.

Upon seeing it, the first thing Michael tried was to have his other body directly enter through his origin body and bypass needing to use the treasure portal entrance. It didn't work.

A single glance at the situation told him immediately that the Origin Battlefield was responsible for the restriction.

As for whether this would change after the forced entry session ended and awakeners were granted more freedom, he would have to test it again in the future.

In any case, with his other body present, Michael could use his undead more effectively from within the Land of Origin.

If those guarding the territory needed reinforcements, the other body could simply provide them by bringing out more undead from the Mausoleum of Endless Dominion.

Michael's gaze shifted toward the timer floating at the corner of his vision.

Less than two minutes remained.

"I should hurry."

His attention immediately turned toward his second body. Since bringing it out from the Mausoleum of Endless Dominion was possible, there was no reason not to make full use of it.

With that thought, Michael opened the registration interface of the Universal Cornerstone.

Assign Registration

Status

Commoner

Privileged

Michael didn't hesitate.

"Privileged."

The moment he confirmed his choice, golden light descended from the Universal Cornerstone and enveloped his second body.

A second later, another notification appeared.

Registration Successful.

Registered Individual: Michael Norman (Clone) Status: Privileged (Highest Authority Level)

For a brief moment, Michael held his breath. Then he immediately attempted to access the Universal Cornerstone through his second body.

The Territory Management interface appeared instantly. The Trade Hub. Structures. Registration. Everything.

His second body possessed exactly the same authority as his original.

"It worked!"
