Chapter 1151: Another One? [2]
Chapter 1151: Another One? [2]
The answer came easily.
Beginning.
After the Undead High Drake, it could be argued that Beginning was the strongest undead in Michael's legion.
He had considered the Bone Dragon first. After all, if the effects of Echoed Bestowal truly pulled creatures closer to the origin of their bloodline depending on the chosen traits, then an undead like the Bone Dragon should receive an enormous boost with Beginning's and the High Drake's traits fused to it.
However, putting aside compatibility, the Bone Dragon could not even defeat Beginning under normal circumstances, which made Michael lean heavily toward the giant.
Beginning was stronger than nearly every other undead in his legion, and its potential ceiling could easily rank among the top five. Its body was absurdly powerful. Its Law of Brutal Rebirth made it increasingly difficult to kill. Its instincts in battle were terrifying.
If any undead had the qualifications to temporarily step into the Demigod level, it was Beginning.
Michael had already placed it inside the Mausoleum of Endless Dominion before leaving the apartment. All he needed to do was summon it.
But just as he was about to, his expression became complicated and he halted.
"Beginning is certainly the best option in terms of raw power. Unfortunately, it is also the worst option in every other way."
Beginning's reckless nature alone was enough to make Michael hesitate. At this point, he was almost certain that while he could still control an undead elevated to the Demigod level, that control was no longer perfect.
If the same thing happened to Beginning…
Michael's eyelid twitched.
This undead had a troubled history. Twice already, it had treated powerful opponents as nourishment for its own advancement.
The giant seemed to possess an almost instinctive desire to temper itself through overwhelming pressure, suffering, and destruction.
If Michael summoned it now and elevated it to the same temporary level as the Undead High Drake, there was no telling what it might decide to do.
The female Demigod was exactly the kind of opponent Beginning would adore.
A being capable of tearing apart its body. A source of pressure far beyond anything it had previously endured. A living opportunity to push Brutal Rebirth toward another transformation.
What if Beginning interpreted the battle as a chance to ascend? What if it deliberately allowed the female Demigod to destroy its body over and over again and attempted to use her power as nourishment?
A chill ran through Michael.
"It has already done something similar twice. I have no reason to believe it would suddenly develop restraint now."
Also, regardless of the enhanced power, Beginning remained a Rank Four creature at its core. Its temporary Demigod-level strength came from borrowed power.
If it recklessly attempted to use that temporary state to force an advancement involving its essence, soul, or foundation, the consequences could be disastrous.
For a realm as sensitive as Demigod, Michael refused to gamble.
Once Michael reached this conclusion, only one choice remained.
The Bone Dragon.
Michael's gaze shifted.
While it was not the most impressive undead in his legion, only a Three-Star Extraordinary Grade creature compared to Beginning, Lucky, Spartan, Ghost, Lily, and several others with more visible potential, the Bone Dragon had once been the primary undead of another peak Rank Four necromancer.
Its grade might not seem remarkable now, but its actual foundation was far stronger than most creatures of the same grade.
Unlike Beginning, the Bone Dragon possessed only basic intelligence. If he elevated it to Demigod-level prowess, any resistance he felt should stem from something other than independent thought.
There was another advantage. It was still a dragon.
Perhaps not a true dragon in the purest sense. Its body had been assembled from countless powerful remains, with some bones not even belonging to the same species, making it more of a constructed monster than a natural race. But the draconic nature remained.
Michael's heartbeat quickened.
The Undead High Drake had transformed after receiving Beginning's and Lucky's traits. So what would happen if the Bone Dragon received the traits of Beginning and the Undead High Drake?
The thought alone made his scalp tingle.
Michael did not know what would appear. Perhaps another dragon. Perhaps something entirely different.
Whatever the result, its foundation should be sufficient to temporarily reach the same battlefield. And even if it failed to match the Undead High Drake, it only needed to help.
Two false Demigods attacking together would completely overturn the current standstill. The female Demigod was already struggling to defend herself against one.
Against two, her chances of escape would plummet, and unless she had some exceptional trump card left, she would obediently become his next undead.
Michael no longer hesitated. A thought flashed through his mind. The space behind him immediately distorted. The air became several degrees colder. A pair of blue flames lit up.
The enormous skull of the Bone Dragon slowly rose, and it looked ready to release a thunderous roar before Michael stopped it.
"Are you crazy? You're an undead. Why are you roaring? Are you excited? Are you even supposed to feel excited?"
"….."
After distancing himself, Michael wasted no time.
"Echoed Bestowal."
His already pale face became noticeably whiter as the Law of Echoed Existence surged once more.
BOOM!
The Bone Dragon's skeletal frame violently shook. Its entire body expanded. Cracks spread across countless bones before immediately repairing themselves.
The aura surrounding it exploded upward. The empty eye sockets blazed several times brighter. Its ribs thickened. Its limbs became noticeably more robust. Even the countless mismatched bones making up its body seemed to instinctively reorganize themselves into a sturdier structure.
A savage aura slowly began emerging from the dragon.
BOOOOOOM!
The heavens shook.
Michael's pupils contracted.
Every bone covering the dragon suddenly emitted dazzling golden light. Countless cracks appeared across its body as the countless imperfections that had accompanied its creation until now rapidly disappeared.
Its twisted skeletal frame became increasingly harmonious.
The skull elongated, its horns growing backward in elegant curves.
The empty gaps between several bones became filled by dense death energy that behaved almost like flesh.
