Chapter 1256: Real Vs Copy [5]
Chapter 1256: Real Vs Copy [5]
The two enormous undead dominated the sky, their presence pressing down over the battlefield like a pair of calamities.
Michael felt his heartbeat quicken.
Without borrowing any actual Rank Five existence, Michael knew at this point he could already create three Demigod-level combatants whenever he wanted.
He had always known his Law was powerful. But the Universal Pioneer title had pushed it even further. And this was with only a two-hundred-and-fifty-percent boost.
Michael was still thinking about it when a strange thought suddenly passed through his mind.
It was a fleeting thought that he might now be the best among all classes, like Beast Tamers and necromancers, below Rank Five in the universe.
His brows furrowed.
"Wait. If a Beast Tamer possessed a Rank Five beast, would the Fourth Layer really prevent them from using it entirely?"
That seemed... wrong, as it would effectively cripple an entire class of Awakeners whose strength came from their contracted creatures.
A frown tugged at the corner of Michael’s mouth.
"Wait."
He froze, eyes widening.
Because of what happened with Lunara, he had automatically assumed he couldn’t bring his Demigod undead into the Fourth Layer.
However, Lunara wasn’t actually the same as his undead. She was connected to his soul, yes. He could even use Infinite Evolution on her. But their relationship was still fundamentally different from his other undead, since Lunara was an independent entity. She had never truly become one of his undead in the same sense as the others.
The more he thought about it, the more ridiculous it seemed. He hadn’t even tested the difference.
Michael reached through his soul connection at once and tried to summon Valeria from his Mausoleum.
Space beside him distorted and a figure appeared.
Michael stared at Valeria in shock. He had actually summoned her.
His senses swept over her at once, and he noticed her Rank Five aura was gone.
Or rather...
Suppressed.
Michael laughed.
"I really was an idiot."
He had completely misread the situation because of Lunara. The restriction placed on an independent Rank Five spirit was not the same as the restriction placed on his own contracted undead. The female Demigod was still being suppressed, but she could enter without extra cost.
Perhaps it was the obedience, and the close feeling of kinship he felt with Lunara, that had clouded his judgment.
Unfortunately, Michael’s happiness lasted less than a second.
Across the battlefield, the reflected Michael had summoned its own copy of the female Demigod undead.
"Of course."
He should have expected it. The copy had mirrored everything else.
Why would this be different?
Michael clicked his tongue, and his attention shifted upward to the two dragons above. Or rather, four.
The two reflected dragons had transformed too. Their appearances were nearly identical to his own, proving the copied Michael had reproduced the same Law combinations.
But... something was visibly wrong.
Michael tilted his head slightly, studying them.
"They’re smaller."
Not by a tiny amount either. The difference was obvious. Though their auras had similarly crossed into Demigod-level power, compared to Michael’s real High Drake and Bone Dragon, their presence was much weaker.
As they clashed, the difference became even more obvious. What had previously been an equal fight turned completely one-sided.
Michael quickly understood what had gone wrong.
Though the other side had copied his move, it could not replicate the effectiveness his title gave.
Michael felt it wasn’t that the copy couldn’t replicate the effect of a title at all. It seemed titles like the one he had recently obtained were simply outside its bracket.
Michael’s attention shifted away from the dragons to his own copy.
Across the battlefield, the copied Valeria was staring at him.
Michael sighed and turned to Valeria beside him.
"Go greet your sister."
Valeria nodded and moved without hesitation, shooting across the battlefield. The copied Valeria reacted just as fast.
BOOM!
A violent blood-colored explosion tore through the dark sky.
Michael barely looked at it, his gaze fixed on the copy standing across from him.
The advantage had finally begun tilting in his favor. Except for Jester and a few others whom Michael had kept out, he had nearly gone all out.
Still, the battle hadn’t ended. There was one thing left.
Michael himself. The reflected Michael seemed to reach the same conclusion.
A spear appeared in Michael’s hand.
[Item Name]: Venomflare Lance
[Grade]: Epic Grade ★★
At nearly the same moment, another spear appeared in the copy’s grip.
Michael smiled.
"Since we can’t die here, let’s fight to our death. Please show me what I can do."
The reflected Michael didn’t answer.
Both lowered their bodies slightly.
Then vanished.
BOOM!
The water beneath their feet exploded at the same instant. They shot toward each other. Hundreds of meters disappeared in a blink.
Michael tightened his grip around the spear, preparing for their collision, when the reflected Michael suddenly threw his spear.
Something flickered across Michael’s face.
The weapon tore through the air toward his head. Michael tilted his body and easily avoided it. His instincts screamed a moment later as the Michael in front of him suddenly disappeared.
Swap?!
Amidst his shock, Michael sensed the copied Michael appear directly behind him. Its fist was already moving toward his head.
Michael twisted hard.
BOOM!
The attack passed beside his head and smashed into the air, producing a violent shockwave.
Michael swung his spear backward at once, but the reflected Michael avoided it.
Michael tensed again as his attention shifted back to the same spear he had dodged earlier, now flying toward him from the opposite direction.
When the copy swapped positions with it, the spear had inherited the location the copy had occupied, maintaining the speed at which it was thrown.
Michael leaned backward. The spear passed inches over his chest.
At the same moment, the reflected Michael reached toward it, and the weapon curved, landing neatly back in its hand.
Michael put some distance between them at once and stared speechlessly at his copy.
"...You can do that? Can I really play like this?" Michael couldn’t help but ask.
The reflected Michael lunged.
CLANG!
Michael blocked as their spears collided, both of them sliding backward across the water.
The copy attacked again. Michael didn’t back down and attacked just as aggressively.
Their spears clashed, with Michael managing to knock the weapon away.
The reflected Michael hurriedly retreated when Michael suddenly threw his own spear and disappeared.
"Swap."
Michael appeared behind the copy.
The reflected Michael reacted without delay and twisted away from his strike.
