Chapter 1287: Two Layers [1]
Chapter 1287: Two Layers [1]
It’s been ten days since the reopening of the Origin Battlefield.
Including the first entry, it’s been a total of eleven days since the reopened Origin Battlefield was revealed to the universe.
With three times the time within the Origin Battlefield, many had already fulfilled their monthly quota.
Michael was also included among this set of people. As a Rank Three Awakener, he needed to spend a month in the Origin Battlefield every 180 days in real time.
Thanks to the time difference between the Origin Battlefield and the outside world, a sense of confusion had welled up in many minds. But these past few days, or rather a month, had allowed many to adapt and learn more about their new reality.
For one, the Origin Battlefield counted a day as twenty-four hours, with no distinctions like weeks yet. Just days and months.
Also, at times, "time" could refer to either the outside world’s timing or the Battlefield’s own timing. Determining which was which depended on the Awakeners themselves.
Three months in the Origin Battlefield equaled a month outside. Only once these three months passed would a reset happen again, and Awakeners would have to begin fulfilling another time quota.
Looking at it from this angle, though it was foreseeable that many Awakeners would spend more time in the Origin Battlefield due to its superior environment, it didn’t take much away from their life in reality.
However, many Awakeners, including Michael, agreed that a sort of balance needed to be met soon.
Though many in the Origin Battlefield were hostile toward one another, the general atmosphere was mostly neutral, with many Awakeners even teaming up to support each other, or fighting others to secure a Heavenly Descent treasure.
With the liveliness increasing in the Origin Battlefield, as many more Awakeners claimed more Universal Cornerstones and brought in more non-Awakener supernaturals for support, a vague agreement had been circulating throughout the universe to mark the start of a new era as the importance of the Origin Battlefield grew.
Since the Origin Battlefield operated on its own time, many had begun tagging it as the first month of the Origin Year.
Currently, word going around outside was that soon many civilizations might have to forsake their traditional calendars, or make them secondary, in order to belong to this new era.
"So you’re saying these two scrolls were obtained from the dungeons on your layer?"
Michael looked between the two rolled scrolls in his hands.
Both were tightly sealed.
One had a white covering from end to end, its surface clean and almost plain at first glance. However, the longer Michael held it, the more obvious the faint mysterious aura surrounding it became.
The other was completely different.
Its covering was deep red, and the aura coming from it was noticeably richer and heavier.
Even without opening either scroll, Michael could tell they were not ordinary items.
In front of him stood two women.
One was already well into her late teens.
Her blonde hair was streaked with black, while her green eyes remained fixed on the two scrolls in Michael’s hands.
Beside her stood someone younger, around sixteen.
She had a full head of black hair and similarly green eyes, the color almost mirroring Michael’s own.
They were Arianne and Lily.
Michael’s partner and his cousin.
Both had only recently returned from their respective activities within the Origin Battlefield.
Michael slowly turned the two scrolls in his hands, examining the differences in their surfaces and the strange energy coming from them.
The fact that they had been obtained from dungeons made them all the more interesting.
Until now, most of Michael’s attention had been focused on Universal Cornerstones, territories, and natural treasures.
He hadn’t yet had the time to enter a dungeon, though he had seen a few from afar, surrounded by many Awakeners.
This was the first time he had held a treasure obtained from a dungeon, and now he was holding two at once. The one in his left hand had been given by Lily, who had gotten it from the Zeroth Layer, while the other had been given to him by Arianne, from the First Layer.
Yes, though Arianne, just like Lily, was similarly unranked, like Michael, the Origin Battlefield had pushed her up into an advanced layer due to her breaking the system.
When Michael had evolved her spirits to Epic Grade, he felt a sliver of suspicion that something like this might happen. But since dragons also existed within the Zeroth Layer without triggering such a shift, he assumed it likely wouldn’t happen here either, so he saw no problem evolving her spirits.
In any case, if she did advance, he felt her current ability and experience from the trial world would allow her to defend herself. And he was right.
Though taken aback that Arianne would be the one to break the balance rather than his cousin Lily, when he thought about it, it wasn’t too surprising.
A dragon, or a mini dragon like Lily, might be strong, but they were only one individual. However strong she was, Lily would still have to run away if two or three dragons ganged up on her.
For Arianne, this may not necessarily be the case. Being a Spirit Tamer was indeed overpowered.
Currently, the two girls and Michael were in his territory within the Origin Battlefield.
As for why this could happen, it was thanks to Lily’s mad hunting these past week.
After gathering eight more pieces and fusing them, Michael no longer hesitated and decided to claim a territory in both layers. Aside from resources, it was also for the native Awakeners in his empire.
However, what he hadn’t expected was for the two to come at the same time and hand him treasures. It was almost like they planned it.
Though suspicious, Michael didn’t think too deeply into it and cast Detect on the two scrolls.
The information he was met with made his heart skip a beat.
Dungeons can be so overpowered?
The two scrolls were a [Basic Class Scroll], given by Lily, and a [Magic Knight Scroll], given by Arianne.

Also, based on a reader’s suggestion of writing longer Chapters since they contain more content, would you guys be into that? Note that, based on ReadNovelFull’s system, they’d cost more coins to unlock, since a long Chapter could be the length of two standard ReadNovelFull Chapters. This is something the system decides and is beyond the author.
