Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 1340: Two Less

Chapter 1340: Two Less

However, after thinking about it for a moment, he gradually calmed down.

Why am I worrying so much?

If he had obtained this information through Jester’s calculations, then perhaps he would have good reason to be afraid.

After all, there was hardly a more direct example of prying into heaven’s secrets than this.

But that wasn’t what had happened here.

Michael hadn’t calculated anything.

He had simply asked a question, and the one who had answered him was none other than the Origin Will itself.

If the information was truly forbidden, couldn’t the Origin Will have simply refused to respond?

There was no reason for Michael to bear the consequences of something that had been willingly revealed to him.

At least, that was how he understood the situation.

There shouldn’t be any consequences.

Michael gradually relaxed.

Without additional information, there was little point in continuing to speculate about the corrupted notification.

He had already received confirmation of Rank 6 and Rank 7.

That alone was an enormous gain.

As for whether a rank truly existed beyond Rank 7...

Michael shook his head slightly.

He would have to leave that mystery for another time.

However, just as he was preparing to dismiss the matter, an idea suddenly occurred to him.

Should I try asking something else?

Michael hesitated.

He was well aware of the restriction attached to the title, but after considering it for a moment, he felt it was worth a try.

Then, without expecting much, he activated the title’s effect again.

"Origin Will, how many True Gods are there in the universe?"

After asking, Michael leaned back in his chair.

He wasn’t particularly confident that he would receive an answer. In fact, he was mostly trying his luck.

Nevertheless, the question wasn’t meaningless.

For some reason, Rank 5 appeared to represent the highest level of power throughout the known universe.

At least, that was the impression Michael had developed from the information available to him.

Whether it was Aurora, the Land of Origin, or the different cultivation systems he had encountered, their recorded paths all ended at the Demigod level.

Yet the Origin Will had just confirmed that this wasn’t the true limit.

True God and Primordial Being were both recognized ranks.

This naturally raised another question.

Where are they?

If such powerful existences had actually reached those realms, why had Michael never encountered any reliable information about them?

Of course, the existence of a rank didn’t necessarily mean that anyone had successfully attained it.

It was entirely possible that the Origin Will recognized those higher realms simply because the paths themselves existed.

But Michael found that explanation somewhat unsatisfying.

Surely someone must have reached those levels at some point?

Even if none remained alive in the present era, there should at least have been individuals who had attained those ranks in the distant past.

And if that was the case, how many were there?

One?

Ten?

Hundreds?

Obtaining even a rough number could help Michael understand the situation.

For example, Demigods were extremely rare.

Even among talented supernaturals, reaching Rank 5 required extraordinary foundations, resources, opportunities, and a considerable amount of time. The overwhelming majority would never come close to achieving it.

Nevertheless, Michael believed that the total number of Demigods throughout the universe should still be rather substantial.

After all, the universe was enormous.

The number of civilizations and supernaturals living within it was practically unimaginable.

Furthermore, powerful supernaturals possessed extraordinarily long lifespans.

A talented individual who couldn’t reach Rank 5 within a hundred years might succeed after several hundred or even several thousand years, provided they possessed sufficient potential and managed to survive.

When these factors were considered together, Michael felt that there should be at least several thousand Demigods scattered throughout the universe.

Of course, without knowing the universe’s population or the proportion of supernaturals capable of reaching Rank 5, this was merely an estimate.

Still, several thousand didn’t seem unreasonable to him.

But what about True Gods?

If there were only a few dozen True Gods, that would suggest that advancing beyond Rank 5 was extraordinarily difficult.

On the other hand, if there were hundreds or even thousands, it might indicate that the higher ranks were simply unknown to the civilizations Michael had encountered.

Of course, there was also the possibility that no True Gods currently existed.

That would be considerably more concerning.

Michael’s expression became thoughtful.

If he could determine the approximate number of True Gods, he might even be able to make a rough guess about how many Primordial Beings existed.

For instance, if only one supernatural out of every hundred Demigods could become a True God, perhaps the difficulty of advancing from True God to Primordial Being followed a similarly severe pattern.

I’m probably overthinking this.

Michael shook his head.

There were too many unknown factors for such an estimate to be reliable.

Nevertheless, it was an interesting possibility.

To be honest, he had always longed to discover a path beyond Rank 5. The idea that Demigod might represent the absolute limit of supernatural power had never sat well with him.

However, knowing that more ranks actually existed made Michael feel a little uncomfortable.

It seems I’ve been getting too confident lately.

As his strength increased, Michael had gradually become accustomed to dealing with powerful supernaturals.

Even Demigods no longer seemed as distant or untouchable as they once had.

But True Gods?

Primordial Beings?

He had no idea what beings at those levels were capable of.

The realization reminded him that there were still heights of power he couldn’t even begin to comprehend.

Michael slowly exhaled.

The caution he had lost as his strength increased began returning.

He had no intention of abandoning his confidence.

However, confidence and carelessness were two different things.

With that thought, Michael settled into his chair and waited.

A minute passed without a response.

Michael considered giving up, but eventually decided to wait a little longer.

Perhaps the Origin Will will recognize the sincerity of this humble student and grant me another answer.

He couldn’t help feeling slightly amused by his own thoughts.

Nevertheless, he continued waiting.

Another minute passed.

By the time five minutes had passed, Michael was beginning to lose hope.

Well, I suppose I shouldn’t have expected too much...

Just as he was about to give up waiting, a panel suddenly appeared before him.

[Current Number of True Gods in the Universe: 198]

However, before Michael could even react, the notification suddenly changed.

[Current Number of True Gods in the Universe: 196]

"..."

For some reason, there were now two fewer.
