Chapter 546: Clash of Laws [2]
Chapter 546: Clash of Laws [2]
A/N: Undead like Beginning are flesh zombies in case anyone is wondering why it seems like their body functions almost like a real one.
*
Michael watched with sharp eyes. If the earlier surge had earned Beginning five levels... what would pushing it further do?
Michael gritted his teeth.
"More," he said.
Gale surged again, his wings sweeping wide as another blast followed, this time accompanied by a faint howl of pressure cracking space itself.
Beginning finally moved.
His legs bent. Knees slightly buckled. For the first time since the start of the barrage, he reacted.
Then—
BOOM.
A shockwave burst from Beginning’s body like a living explosion.
Michael braced instinctively.
The entire pocket space shivered.
Beginning slowly stood straight again, his posture now absolute.
And then came the aura.
A second surge. It didn’t match the first in violence but in depth.
Like a blade that had been tempered after the initial forging.
Michael’s lips parted slightly. "Again...?"
He opened the panel.
[Undead Name: Beginning]
Level: 60 → 65
Five more levels.
A slow breath escaped him.
"Ten levels... just from enduring ?"
He stared, silent, as Beginning’s wounds began to seal.
Michael wasn’t sure if it was healing or transformation.
Maybe both.
However, like before, Michael couldn’t help but wonder if this was beginning’s limit.
Not in a hurry to give Gale another order, he checked in Beginning himself.
A second later a strange expression showed on Michael’s face..
"Gale," Michael called out. "More. Go all out."
Gale didn’t hesitate.
The griffin’s wings snapped outward with an audible crack, and the air around him twisted, compressed, then detonated forward in a violent cyclone of razored wind.
This time, Gale was going all out.
The dimensional pocket screamed.
Michael flinched as even from a distance, his skin prickled and flared with phantom pain. The pressure of it alone was nauseating.
Beginning took it all.
Wave after wave of tearing wind carved across his figure. His flesh split. Muscles twitched, tore, and healed again.
Ten minutes passed.
Still nothing changed.
Michael’s brow furrowed.
He watched carefully, the tension in his body building. Could it be? Was this truly the edge? The limit of how much the [Law of Brutal Rebirth] could handle.
Gale kept going. If anything, he intensified. Each pulse of wind now sang with higher frequency.
Then—finally—the shift returned.
It was slow this time. No dramatic burst. No deafening explosion. Just a slow bleed of power that filled the coffin realm like creeping mist.
Michael narrowed his eyes.
The aura surrounding Beginning began to deepen—less like a spike, and more like an ocean growing vaster by the second.
Michael instinctively pulled up the panel again.
[Undead Name: Beginning]
Level: 65 → 70
Beginning reminded standing but this time... something was different.
Michael’s eyes narrowed as he noticed thin lines crawling across Beginning’s body—not just from Gale’s attacks, but from beneath his skin.
Blood.
Black, sludgy, and sluggish, began to leak not from cuts, but from his eyes, ears, and even the corners of his mouth.
"...What the hell?" Michael muttered, unease creeping into his voice.
This wasn’t like before.
A backlash?
The [Law of Brutal Rebirth] had always pushed against death. But now—it seemed to be pushing too far.
Beginning seemed to be bleeding from the inside. .
Michael’s heart skipped.
"No... this is it," he whispered. "This is the limit."
He didn’t hesitate.
"Gale, stop!" he ordered, voice sharp as steel.
Gale halted in an instant, wings folding inward as his presence collapsed into stillness.
The wind died.
Silence fell.
The aftermath was immediate—Beginning’s body finally slumped a fraction, his knees dipping slightly.
Michael didn’t wait.
"Beginning," he said mentally, "stop using your law. Shut it off."
There was a pause.
Then the pulse of life-bending energy vanished like a snapped cord.
Beginning’s aura receded all at once.
Michael exhaled slowly, his body loosening, his hands lowering from where they had clenched at his sides without realizing.
He pulled up the panel.
> [Undead Name: Beginning]
Level: 55
After beginning stopped using his law, he returned to his original level.
Michael stared silently at the numbers.
Fifteen levels in total... but the last five had nearly broken him.
"...So it really does have a ceiling," he muttered.
A brutal law with brutal benefits—and equally brutal consequences when pushed too far.
Michael shook his head, glancing at Beginning, who now stood bloodied but stable. His injuries also healing rather rapidly.
Michael couldn’t help but suspect it had something to do with Beginning law of life.
"That’s all for now," Michael said quietly.
Then he turned away, gaze distant.
He had learned a lot today.
But though he wanted to learn more, it seems like the slave within the coffin could only handle so much.
Michael could only glance at the law description of his other undead and make speculations.
[Law of Venomous Flame (Seed)]
A hybrid law forged from toxin and fire. Its flames do not just burn flesh—they ignite soul and mana alike, persisting beyond all natural extinguishing.
Connected to the Law of Corruption.
Lucky’s law.
Lily’s law came next.
[Law of Devouring Bloom (Seed)]
All beauty conceals hunger. This law allows the host to absorb essence from what it consumes, turning it into healing, strength, or even temporary traits.
Connected to the Law of Consumption.
He moved to Prince.
[Law of Spectral Command (Seed)]
The dead do not rest—they serve. This law enhances mastery over the incorporeal, empowering spirits and undead bound to the user’s will.
Connected to the Law of Death.
Just as Michael was thinking of what to do next, something stirred in the depths of his awareness.
A thread pulled taut.
His connection to his real body tugged sharply.
Michael’s eyes narrowed.
"...What now?"
His consciousness split smoothly syncing with his physical self.
And at once, he understood the reason.
New Mail Received.
He reached over to check what it was and....
It was actually related to his choice when he chose his academy.
