Chapter 828: Heading Back (Bonus - !!)
Chapter 828: Heading Back (Bonus Chapter!!)
A sun.
A dark sun formed from compressed black water.
It hovered silently in midair, vast yet contained, its surface rippling like an endless abyssal ocean forced into spherical shape.
No heat radiated from it.
No light illuminated the field.
Yet the moment it manifested, despair appeared on both Caelum’s face and the old military man’s face simultaneously.
"Defend!"
The old man tried to shout.
Both he and Caelum moved to react. Power surged.
But they could not move.
Their bodies locked in place as if the space around them had turned into sealed glass.
Their defenses had not even fully formed when the black water sun pulsed once.
Just a single ripple.
The next instant, both Rank Four superpowers were thrown away like discarded rags.
Their figures blasted across the sky, tearing through layers of airspace before crashing into a distant area.
Boom!
A loud sound was heard, and even from a great distance away, the military grounds shook violently as the defenses set in place threatened to crumble.
The entire military post fell into absolute silence.
Students froze.
Soldiers stiffened.
Even the observing instructors felt their scalps go numb.
What had just happened was a projection casually swatting away two Rank Four superpowers.
It was like an adult disciplining noisy children.
Two Rank Four children.
The projection’s gaze drifted back to Rynne.
Rynne inhaled softly, then bowed her head.
"Thank you, Teacher."
Her voice carried both relief and gratitude.
Gagye looked at her quietly.
Then she spoke.
"Do you know your offense?"
Rynne blinked. This time, visible anxiety surfaced on her face.
"...No, Teacher."
Gagye shook her head slowly. The gesture carried disapproval, but it was not disappointment.
"What is the most important thing in this universe?" Gagye asked.
Rynne hesitated briefly before answering.
"...Power."
Gagye nodded once.
"Correct."
Her voice remained calm as her gaze sharpened slightly.
"If you were strong enough, you would not have needed to summon my projection."
Rynne’s fingers tightened faintly at her sides.
Gagye continued.
"Do you understand what you have spent today?"
She raised a hand slightly, the projection around her rippling faintly.
"A projection like this contains a fragment of my consciousness and power. Once used, that is the end."
Her eyes lowered back to Rynne.
"You have used it."
A pause.
"With so much power already wasted..."
Her voice softened, though the weight behind it deepened.
"What happens when you face true danger in the future?"
Rynne’s lips parted slightly. No words came out.
Gagye watched her for a moment longer, then exhaled lightly.
"In the end..."
Her tone eased.
"It may be for the better."
Rynne blinked in confusion, but Gagye did not elaborate.
Instead, her gaze shifted away from her disciple.
Upward.
Toward the sky.
Toward Michael.
By now, Michael had been released from the suppressive hold. He hovered midair, no longer restrained, though he had not moved yet.
He was staring directly at Gagye.
Shock was written plainly across his face.
Gagye observed him silently for a few seconds. Her perception brushed across him lightly, as if skimming the surface of something deeper.
Then she smiled. A small, faint smile.
"Interesting," she said.
Before Michael could react, her projection began to dissolve.
White light scattered like mist in the wind. Her figure fragmented into drifting particles of luminous water before dispersing completely into the air.
For several long seconds after Gagye’s projection dispersed, no one moved.
The silence hung thick across the military compound.
Students remained frozen in place, still trying to process what they had just witnessed.
Two Rank Four superpowers had been struck down casually. Swatted aside by a projection.
Even the instructors needed a moment to regain composure.
It was Instructor Sera who finally broke the paralysis.
She exhaled once, steadying herself, then turned sharply toward the academy students.
"Everyone, regroup immediately," she said, voice firm.
The command cut cleanly through the lingering shock.
"Prepare for immediate withdrawal."
Her tone left no room for delay.
Students from Michael’s academy began moving at once, instinctively obeying the authority in her voice.
But what Sera did not say was that she wanted to leave as quickly as possible.
Her eyes flicked once toward the distant horizon where Caelum and the old military officer had been blasted away.
She did not think they would return. Not after that strike.
If they had survived, they would be injured. If they had not, then the situation was even more complicated politically.
Either way, she had no intention of remaining here long enough to find out.
Retaliation was unlikely, but not impossible. And she was responsible for dozens of students.
She would not gamble their safety on assumptions.
"Move with urgency," she added.
That subtle word choice alone revealed her real thoughts.
The instructors around her quickly understood and began organizing their respective student groups.
Meanwhile, Michael slowly descended from the air.
The invisible restraint was gone.
He landed lightly on the ground beside Rynne.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Then Michael turned first toward Sera.
He gave a respectful nod.
"Thank you, Instructor."
His voice was calm, but sincere.
Sera looked at him for a brief moment, confirming he was unharmed. She nodded once.
"Stay within formation," she said. "We are leaving immediately."
There was no reprimand. No questioning.
That alone told Michael she did not want to discuss what had just happened here. Not now.
He understood.
Michael then turned toward Rynne.
His expression softened slightly.
"Thank you," he said.
Unlike his words to Sera, this one carried deeper weight.
He knew exactly what she had done. Summoning a projection like that was not a small matter.
Rynne shook her head lightly.
For a brief second, the two stood in mutual understanding.
Then Sera’s voice rang out again across the field.
"All academy personnel, prepare portal alignment. We depart in five minutes."
The military compound, once locked in confrontation, now shifted into organized withdrawal.
Students gathered.
Instructors activated exit arrays.
Energy formations began lighting up across the staging grounds.
But even as they prepared to leave, many gazes still drifted toward Michael.
Toward Rynne.
Toward the empty sky where a Demigod’s projection had appeared.
Because everyone present knew.
Today’s incident would not remain confined to this battlefield.
It would echo across academies.
Across the Federation.
Across Aurora itself.
And at the center of that ripple stood one name.
Michael Norman.
