Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 879: Difference Starting

Chapter 879: Difference Starting

The Law of Echoed Existence.

This was Michael’s law.

The moment he comprehended it completely according to his own understanding, the universe itself would acknowledge the law and grant him its blessing.

Michael did not yet know exactly what form this blessing would take.

The information he had managed to gather in Aurora and within the Land of Origin was fragmented.

Most of the records only described the process in vague and indirect terms.

Still, there was one thing that every source agreed upon.

Rank Three was different.

It was not merely another step in cultivation.

It was the first true transformation.

Only after reaching Rank Three could someone truly be regarded as a supernatural being.

Below that stage, no matter how powerful someone became, they were still considered to be walking toward the threshold rather than standing beyond it.

Across different worlds, different civilizations, and even different systems of cultivation, that truth remained the same.

"It has started."

Michael smiled faintly as the familiar scene began unfolding before him.

A translucent panel appeared in front of his vision.

[Your Rank Advancement Quest has been completed.]

[Do you wish to advance to Lord Necromancer now?]

[Y/N]

Michael did not hesitate.

"Yes."

The moment the word left his lips, the system responded.

[Advancement Quest: Have 5 Rank 3 Undead – Progress: 6/5]

[Special circumstances have been observed regarding your Rank Advancement Quest.]

[You have exceeded the limit.]

[Quest Generated]

[Advancement Quest: Have 20 Rank 3 Undead – Progress: 6/20]

More panels appeared immediately after.

They continued appearing without pause.

[Advancement Quest: Have 20 Rank 3 Undead – Progress: 21/20]

[Special circumstances have been observed regarding your Rank Advancement Quest.]

[You have exceeded the limit.]

Another panel followed soon after.

[Advancement Quest: Have 30 Rank 3 Undead – Progress: 31/30]

[Special circumstances have been observed regarding your Rank Advancement Quest.]

[You have exceeded the limit.]

[Creating a one time Limit Break quest based on the conditions met.]

[Quest Generated]

[Advancement Quest: Have 50 Rank 3 Undead – Progress: 51/50]

Michael expected another panel to appear.

Instead everything suddenly vanished.

All the floating messages disappeared from his vision.

"Huh?"

Michael blinked.

A new panel slowly appeared.

[The Origin Will has intervened]

[It is discovered that you are an Outlier]

[Reevaluating your advancement task]

[New task generating...]

Michael stared at the message.

For a few seconds he said nothing.

Then his expression darkened.

"You’ve got to be kidding me."

The words slipped out quietly.

First came surprise.

Then shock.

Then irritation.

Michael clenched his teeth slightly.

"Origin Will..."

He muttered the name under his breath.

At this point he was not even sure what to call that thing anymore.

Was it a being?

Or some abstract will that governed the structure of the universe?

Michael did not know the full truth yet.

But one thing had become clear.

Just as he had expected, the moment he attempted to break past the normal limits of his Rank Advancement Quest again, the Origin Will had interfered.

Michael was not surprised.

But that did not mean he was pleased.

In fact, being proven right only made the irritation worse.

This was not the first time the Origin Will had interfered with him.

The first encounter had happened during his previous advancement.

At that time he had already exceeded every normal requirement tied to his rank.

He had completed all the follow up advancement missions.

Not only that, he had gone far beyond them.

The result had been unprecedented.

Aurora held no record of anything similar.

A completely new rating had appeared.

And immediately afterward the Origin Will had appeared.

Without warning.

Without explanation.

It had interfered directly with the final result.

The most obvious change had been the difficulty of gaining experience points.

It had suddenly become more than three times harder than before.

As if the world itself had decided to slow him down.

At that time Michael had already suspected something.

The Origin Will might appear again in the future.

Now that suspicion had become reality.

And this time it had acted even earlier.

Michael stared coldly at the floating panel.

"So you decided to act early this time."

His voice remained calm.

But there was no humor in it.

There was no reply.

Strangely, Michael could not feel any gaze observing him either.

But that was not what concerned him right now.

Michael leaned back slightly while still sitting cross legged within the spatial space of the Damaged Coffin of the Forgotten.

Thousands of undead stood silently around him.

Michael slowly exhaled.

Then his eyes narrowed as he looked back at the panel.

"Fine."

"If you want to play this game..."

"Then let’s see what kind of task you prepared this time."

The panel flickered.

New words slowly appeared.

There were two possibilities.

Either he would receive a completely different mission.

Or the same mission would return but in a much more difficult form.

Between the two, Michael preferred the second.

If the task changed completely, it might become impossible to complete.

That would prevent him from pursuing a higher completion rating.

The panel flickered again.

[New Advancement Quest Generated]

[Advancement Quest: Have 100 Rank 3 Undead – Progress: 51/100]

Silence filled the spatial dimension.

Then Michael cursed.

"Damn it."

His voice echoed faintly through the dark pocket dimension.

One hundred Rank Three undead.

For most rank 2 necromancers this mission would be devastating.

Even having ten Rank Three undead was extremely difficult.

One hundred was nearly impossible.
