Chapter 894: Final Two
Chapter 894: Final Two
Michael’s gaze shifted once more. Two names remained. He started with the first.
• Grave Warden
[Class: Grave Warden]
[Description]: A guardian of the dead. One who governs the dead, commands legions of the fallen, and turns battlefields into domains of death. A Grave Warden does not merely raise the dead. They preserve, empower, and dominate through overwhelming numbers and territorial control.
[Compatibility]: Perfect
Michael’s eyes narrowed slightly. "...A control-type class."
Like the Necromancer and Beast Tamer classes. For some reason, he could already tell this might be another serious contender.
Then the effects appeared.
[Effect 1]: Gains 6 attribute points per level.
[Effect 2]: Attribute Distribution per level:
• +0.5 Strength
• +1 Constitution
• +1 Agility
• +3.5 Intelligence
Seeing another class biased toward intelligence, Michael wasn’t entirely surprised. His original Necromancer class was a mage-type after all. He was just an anomaly who had never followed the standard route.
Michael continued reading.
[Effect 3]: All undead under the user gain a 40% increase in durability and a 25% increase in regeneration.
[Effect 4]: Establish Grave Domains. Within a domain, undead gain an additional 30% boost to all attributes.
[Effect 5]: Does not conflict with the Necromancer class. Contract slots, undead, and abilities remain intact.
[Effect 6]: Fallen enemies within Grave Domains have a chance to be automatically converted into undead under the user’s control.
Michael’s brows furrowed slightly. "...This..."
For a brief moment, he did not know how to describe it. Then the realization settled.
"...This fits too well."
His compatibility with this class was the same as Death’s Heir, but the feeling was different this time.
If he was being completely honest, this did not feel like choosing a new class. It felt like continuing. Like an extension.
"...An upgrade."
Michael’s fingers tightened slightly at his side. Everything about it aligned. Nothing seemed removed, restricted, or replaced.
Michael exhaled slowly, his gaze sharpening. "...It’s the same path."
That was the difference between this and Death’s Heir. Death’s Heir was powerful, overwhelmingly so, but it introduced change. A shift in direction. A deeper focus that would reshape him. This did not reshape anything. It built directly on what he already was. No detours, no adjustments, no adaptation required.
Michael’s eyes flickered faintly.
Forty percent durability. Twenty-five percent regeneration. His undead, already difficult to destroy, would become even harder to deal with.
His thoughts accelerated. "...Thirty percent boost inside a domain."
That was not a small number. Within his territory, his undead would become something entirely different.
Michael inhaled slowly. "...This is ridiculous."
But it did not stop there. His gaze shifted to the final effect.
Automatic conversion.
As long as it happened within his domain, the dead would rise under him immediately.
Michael’s heartbeat slowed as he imagined facing an army. As long as he persisted, he would only grow stronger. As long as there were enemies, there would be bodies. As long as there were bodies, there would be undead.
"...This..."
For the first time since reading Death’s Heir, he hesitated again.
Michael leaned back slowly, his gaze still locked on the panel. "...There’s no downside."
Compared to Death’s Heir, which demanded focus and some degree of personal sacrifice, this one asked for nothing and gave everything.
Michael’s eyes dimmed slightly as he weighed the two against each other.
Grave Warden was perfect for what he already was. Death’s Heir was something more. Not only did it strengthen his existing foundation, it strengthened him more personally, something Michael valued greatly. Choosing between the two meant choosing between growing overall with more personal strength or simply becoming a stronger version of what he already was.
It was genuinely difficult.
Michael fell silent, then slowly exhaled. "...Still a top-tier choice."
If his goal was pure domination through numbers and battlefield control, this would have been perfect. But he was not done. His gaze moved to the final class.
• Abyss Caster
The panel shifted.
[Class: Abyss Caster]
[Description]: A wielder of the abyss. One who channels the deepest layers of darkness, where existence itself begins to erode. The abyss does not simply empower. It devours, corrupts, and transcends.
[Compatibility]: High
The effects appeared.
[Effect 1]: Gains 7 attribute points per level.
Michael’s pupils contracted slightly. "...Seven."
Equal to Death’s Heir. He wondered if the rest would hold up the same way.
[Effect 2]: Attribute Distribution per level:
• +0.5 Strength
• +0.5 Constitution
• +1 Agility
• +5 Intelligence
[Effect 3]: All darkness-related abilities are amplified by 60%.
[Effect 4]: Can convert mana into Abyssal Energy, greatly increasing destructive output.
[Effect 5]: Abyssal abilities ignore a portion of defensive and resistance effects.
Michael leaned back slightly, his fingers tapping once against his knee before going still. "...It’s strong."
In terms of raw destructive ability, this might very well be the strongest class on the list. Sixty percent amplification. Defense-ignoring effects. A complete conversion of energy into something more potent. If he chose this, his power would spike instantly.
Michael’s eyes dimmed slightly. "...But at what cost?"
His gaze sharpened as he read through the panel again. No mention of undead. No mention of contracts. No mention of preservation. Nothing.
Michael went quiet. "...So it replaces everything."
There it was. Just like Death Knight. Just like Elemental Mage. Just like every class he had already rejected. This one was no different. The only distinction was that it was stronger.
Michael let out a slow breath. "...The strongest replacement."
His eyes grew colder. "...That’s all it is."
There was no hesitation this time. He set the panel aside in his mind and turned his attention back to the full list.
It was time to make a decision.
Michael stared at the full list for a long moment.
[Available Class Paths]
