Evolving My Undead Legion In A Game-Like World

Chapter 947: Level Up! [4]

Chapter 947: Level Up! [4]

Though the old deer continued to show its might, in the end it had to give way.

Shojo’s heart was filled with hatred toward everything around it, with Beginning and Michael sitting at the extreme end of that hatred.

The titan’s tolerance for damage was not something the deer had a frame of reference for. Though Beginning was the weakest of the three, for some reason it had grown to be the most annoying.

At some point in the battle Beginning got hold of Shojo’s front legs and wrenched with full force, tearing them off as the deer screamed in pain.

Shojo’s antlers came down immediately in response, a retaliatory strike that connected with Beginning’s torso with enough force to send visible fractures spreading across the titan’s outer layer.

Before the deer could recover, the undead Drakeblood had circled around its massive body and closed its jaws around one of Shojo’s back legs.

A thunderous scream echoed again as the undead Drakeblood tore the leg free, leaving the creature with only one limb remaining.

As if that were not enough, from the black water below the demonic supernatural acted.

The surface broke upward in multiple points simultaneously, solid columns of compressed water rising in spikes that drove into Shojo’s body from beneath. One pierced its heart. Though at this stage of cultivation the heart was no longer a fatal weakness the way it once was, it was still a weakness nonetheless.

Shojo’s screams only grew louder as it thrashed in midair.

"I’m going to die."

Shojo’s final thoughts were not peaceful.

Regret filled its entire being as it thought back to everything that had led to this moment. The only conclusion it could arrive at was that it had been too greedy.

"It’s too late now."

Shojo’s consciousness started to blur when something registered in its senses.

A figure was descending from above, but this time it was not the Drakeblood the deer had grown familiar with.

It was small. Far smaller. And it had a spear in its hand.

The human youth.

Shojo’s fading focus snapped back with violence. The regret and resignation it had felt moments before burned away entirely, replaced by something considerably hotter.

This child.

This Great Stage human child who had stood safely behind his summons through the entirety of the fight, who had not thrown a single meaningful attack, was now descending with a spear as though he intended to finish it personally.

"Who do you think you are!"

Shojo felt the insult of it down to whatever remained of its core.

Its body was ruined. Three legs were gone and its lifeforce would soon disappear entirely. The Drakeblood, Beginning, and the demonic supernatural had done their work thoroughly.

But Shojo was still a Legendary Stage being. Whatever remained of it was still more than most things in this world could handle.

"Since you seek death, let’s go down together!"

Shojo screamed the thought as it gathered everything it had left.

A dying dragon was still a dragon.

Michael had not descended with the assumption that a creature of this level was harmless. One moment of carelessness and he would die regardless of how thoroughly his undead had worked it over.

Before making his move, Michael had gone all out in his own preparations.

He had reinforced his physique with every suitable skill available to him, including his Necromancer class skill, Bone Armor. With the bonus from his class behind it, the skill was stronger than it had ever been.

When he had first used this skill as a Rank 1 awakener, it had only produced crude bone plates to guard his weakest points.

What covered him now was something else entirely.

The bone had darkened to a deep grey-black, each plate dense enough that the surface seemed to absorb light rather than reflect it. The coverage was total, moving from his feet upward across his legs, torso, arms, and finally his head in interlocking sections that left no visible gaps between them. The edges were precise, each plate meeting the next with a seamless fit.

At the joints the design maintained full coverage without restricting movement. Along his forearms the bone had thickened considerably beyond everywhere else, a deliberate reinforcement that turned them into something capable of being used offensively if needed.

Michael descended through the grey darkness of the domain with his spear in hand.

His law was active as well, with both the Beginning state and Ghost state running simultaneously. Together they granted him a strength and physical resilience that nothing at his level could match.

Seeing the deer gathering itself below, Michael let out a roar and increased his descent speed.

Shojo released everything it had left into a single attack.

Its remaining antler blazed and a spear of compressed crimson blood launched upward with a boom that shook the domain around them.

Michael did not stop.

The moment the two forces met it became a contest of pure strength. Michael’s body took damage in several places as the blood spear tore through sections of his armor and reached the body beneath, pain registering clearly across his left side.

He did not stop.

With a roar he continued pushing through, tearing apart the blood spear as he went, and descended like a spear himself, driving straight through Shojo’s massive head.

The deer’s eyes went still.

"After a thousand years. A thousand years of cultivation and it is all gone. It is over. If only I had not targeted him."

The domain dissolved around them as Shojo’s lifeforce finally ran out entirely.
