Chapter 1220: Chapter 1214: World Has Changed

The battlefield below was filled with slaughter.

Yet, high above, the situation was utterly bizarre.

In this brutal war between the Wu Tribe and the Human Race, a detached group of cultivators from both sides watched coldly from the sidelines, entirely removed from the chaos.

High in the cloudy sky, a massive Dao Domain had been established, entirely filled with dense, overlapping spear shadows.

Within it, a handsome man of extraordinarily magnificent bearing floated in the air. He kept one hand behind his back while his other hand grasped a long spear.

A clear breeze swept through the domain, blowing a stray lock of hair across his face, but it could not conceal the profound disdain and contempt burning in his eyes.

“Spear Saint, Gu Fenghua.”

Four figures completely surrounded him.

One of them was Dharma Master Hongzhen, who had quietly vanished from the Dusheng Nunnery years ago.

Back then, she had been on the very verge of a breakthrough when she was severely injured and mysteriously taken away.

Now, reappearing before the world, she had successfully broken through to the Body Integration realm.

The one who had spoken, however, was Min Tiange.

As the sixty-thousand-year-old Hall Master of the Peerless Hall, he faced the Spear Saint with an amiable expression, looking less like an enemy and more like a noble young master catching up with an old friend.

Of course, if it weren’t for the two Peerless Hall elders flanking them, the gentle postures of Min Tiange and Dharma Master Hongzhen would never have suggested that the Spear Saint was currently being besieged.

One of those elders was an eccentric, jarring man. His face was smeared with heavy paint, resembling a clown from an opera troupe, and his clothes were tattered, crudely patched together from various scraps of fabric.

This madman-like figure giggled wretchedly within the Dao Domain, waving his arms and dancing around as he spoke in a piercingly shrill voice:

“Hahaha! Spear Saint Gu Fenghua! I’ve seen him—I’ve seen him before!”

“It was on the battlefield between the Human and Demon races. Back then, you were already a formidable expert at the Void Refinement realm! You led your troops right through our city, looking so grand and majestic!”

The grating voice caused even Min Tiange to frown in displeasure, while Dharma Master Hongzhen softly chanted, “Amitabha.”

Yet, the man continued to dance, laughing joyfully.

“Back then, I wanted to be just like you! Fighting for our Human Race across the four directions, shouting loudly, ‘I am Immortal Venerable He Qianxia!’

Who knew—boom! Everyone died. An entire city of trash, and they couldn’t even deal with a single Divinity Transformation cultivator!”

His laughter abruptly stopped. A dark haze washed over He Qianxia’s face, and his features twisted into a ferocious, venomous scowl.

“Why didn’t you stay a little longer?! You were fighting a great war with the Demon Race, so why didn’t you help us?!!”

Gu Fenghua, who had been locked in a silent standoff with the four Body Integration experts, finally reacted.

He frowned slightly. That was a matter from tens of thousands of years ago; he couldn’t remember it, nor did he care to.

In the great war between the Human and Demon races back then, sacrifices were inevitable.

It seemed this He Qianxia was merely a broken survivor who was fundamentally incapable of understanding that reality.

“I didn’t help,” Gu Fenghua replied coldly. “What can you do about it?”

“You… hahaha!” He Qianxia laughed out of sheer, manic rage, his eyes turning instantly bloodshot.

Gu Fenghua paid the madman no further mind; he had never even heard of the man’s name. Instead, he shifted his gaze toward Min Tiange.

“You are quite capable,” Gu Fenghua said.

“To silently plant so many Dao Seeds within my army and bring three Body Integration experts to lure me into a trap.

Tell me, with all your strength, are you still too afraid to face me alone?”

“Senior praises me too much,” Min Tiange smiled modestly.

“But Senior’s name is known to all under the heavens. Spear Saint Gu Fenghua, the number one in slaughter below the Mahayana realm. How could this junior ever dare to meet you alone?”

Min Tiange paused, his smile fading into a sigh.

“It’s just that Senior pursued me too closely. This junior was carefully laying out plans in the Western Frontier, yet Senior insisted on risking everything to charge into the Wu Tribe’s lands, thwarting my plans to let the Wu Tribe cross our borders.”

“Now that this junior has established the Blood Moon Grand Array Formation, and Senior remains wild and uncontrolled, I had no choice but to come and meet you in person.”

As his words fell, a glowing seed materialized in Min Tiange’s hand. His tone remained perfectly gentle. “Senior should know how to choose.”

A Dao Seed.

Gu Fenghua’s expression twisted into utter disdain. “The news has already been sent back to the Imperial Dynasty. Even Min Youguo won’t be able to protect you now.”

Hearing this, a flash of fleeting reluctance passed through Min Tiange’s eyes. He silently withdrew the Dao Seed and let out a long, heavy sigh.

“Senior still doesn’t understand. The world changed long ago.”

“The mighty figures of this world now seek nothing but self-preservation. Even our Empress will not make a move against this junior—at least, not right now.”

Min Tiange looked up, his voice echoing with chilling certainty.

“This junior’s Dao Seeds control not only the Western Frontier but also the Wu Tribe. The Empress’s ambitions are vast. A few days ago, I had the honor of meeting Her Majesty.

She is deeply interested in my Dao Seeds, and even more interested in whether I can successfully seize two totems from the Wu Tribe.

And then, there is you. If you consume this Dao Seed, Her Majesty the Empress will also feel much more at ease.”

“Huu…”

Gu Fenghua exhaled a long breath.

When the Li Clan left, they had left him a letter urging him to flee.

Now, finally, he understood. He understood everything.

Beneath the ominous glow of the Blood Moon, how could the Imperial Dynasty truly be blind to what was happening?

It was simply that the people at the top wanted more. The chessboard behind the scenes was far grander, and far filthier, than he had imagined.

Slowly, Gu Fenghua rolled up a corner of his long robe and began to wipe the long spear in his hand. His tone was perfectly calm, devoid of fear.

“You are right. The world has changed.”

“Rats hide in their ratholes, the cowardly have ultimately lost their courage, the greedy are as insatiable as a pack of bloodthirsty wolves, and sitting upon the dragon throne is a manipulative bitch playing political games.”

The long spear that had accompanied the Spear Saint for nearly a hundred thousand years was wiped gleaming bright, mirroring the pure, unyielding light in his eyes.

His long robe fluttered loudly in the rising wind.

Suddenly, the sharp, lethal edge of the spear shadows within the Dao Domain was fully exposed.

Spear Saint Gu Fenghua swung his weapon, producing a roaring, resonant hum that shook the sky, and let out a cold sneer.

“But I believe in heavenly justice and fairness. Your Blood Moon cannot affect me, just as people like you can never corrupt the entire Imperial Dynasty!”

“Senior…” Min Tiange frowned, intending to say more.

But it was too late. The sharp edges within the Dao Domain were already fully unsheathed.

The Spear Saint’s Dao was indestructible.

That long spear was the hardest object in the world—forged exactly like his spine.
