Zhu Miaomiao had always been the type to move quickly. If she said she was going to do something, she would do it immediately. She drew some water out of Lu Qingjiu’s well, bottled it and sent it by express mail to her colleague, telling that colleague to first use the water to wash their hair, and, if the results weren’t obvious, to then drink it. Her colleague agreed.
Lu Qingjiu asked Zhu Miaomiao when she was returning to the city. Zhu Miaomiao replied that there was no hurry, even if she waited until her colleagues responded before going back to the company, there would still be a lot of time.
About two days later, the colleague who had received the mail called Zhu Miaomiao.
At the time, Zhu Miaomiao was helping Lu Qingjiu feed the pigs. It had to be said, even Lu Qingjiu’s pigs ate healthier than a lot of people. It was all feed made from fresh vegetables mixed with stewed meat. Zhu Miaomiao felt that if not for the fact that she’d just eaten her fill, she would really want to try a few mouthfuls after smelling it.
When her colleague called, Zhu Miaomiao directly pressed the speaker button. Before she could even speak, she heard the person on the other end of the line shrieking excitedly, “Miaomiao, Miaomiao, you’re simply my parents reborn!”
Zhu Miaomiao replied, “What?”
Her colleague said, “I grew hair, I grew hair!!!” As he howled, his trembling voice allowing people to feel his excitement from far away on the phone.
Lu Qingjiu, who was originally feeding Xiao Hua and the rest, paused upon hearing this noise.
“Calm down, speak slowly.” Zhu Miaomiao’s head hurt from his roaring.
The colleague said, “Do you want to see the current me?!”
Zhu Miaomiao said, “Video? Alright.”
Then, that colleague sent over a video call request which Zhu Miaomiao accepted. The moment she accepted it, she froze. She saw her colleague who originally had a Mediterreanean sea hairstyle spouting a ponytail, a face full of excited happiness as he jumped in front of the camera, proudly showing off his hair, “Aren’t I beautiful? Aren’t I good-looking?”
Lu Qingjiu, “…” Having a beer-bellied man ask this question was really a little stimulating.
Zhu Miaomiao’s response was about the same as Lu Qingjiu’s. Her expression twisted for a moment. However, she was on good terms with this colleague, so she simply started scolding him, “Beautiful my ass, why did you keep it in this hairstyle? Can’t you go get it cut at the hairdresser’s?”
Her colleague said angrily, “Are you joking? You want me to cut the hair that I worked so hair to grow?? You’re asking for my life.”
Zhu Miaomiao, “…” She actually couldn’t argue.
Her colleague walked around in front of the camera and described the process of growing his hair in detail. Actually, it was quite simple. He just received the bottle of water Zhu Miaomiao had sent over to him, then, followed what Zhu Miaomiao had told him, applying to bottle to his head after taking a bath and changing his clothes. There was no effect immediately after applying it, but once he woke up, he noticed that he had actually sprouted a head of beautiful black hair.
After hearing her colleague’s descriptions, Zhu Miaomiao became thoughtful. “Then you can give the remaining water to the rest to try, I want to see if there’ll be any effect on other people.”
“Alright,” that colleague said, “I’ll give it to Xiao Huang tomorrow to try. Yi, where are you now?”
Zhu Miaomiao said, “I went to the countryside to play, I’ll be back in a few days.”
Her colleague nodded. Zhu Miaomiao told him to let her know what effects there were when he used the water on other people, then ended the call.
“This is great, I didn’t think the well water would be so effective.” Zhu Miaomiao was extremely pleasantly surprised. She rubbed her fists in front of Lu Qingjiu. “I can already see a path of making money beckoning you.”
Lu Qingjiu smiled and said, “How about this, you help me manage the Taobao store and I’ll split you a portion.”
Zhu Miaomiao understood Lu Qingjiu’s intentions. He just wanted for her to make some money along with him. But she still refused. Above all, from the very beginning, she came up with this idea to try and help Lu Qingjiu’s life become more comfortable. Lu Qingjiu had so many mouths to feed at home, after all. She said, “No, you should manage it yourself. This water is different from other things, it doesn’t need any special means of transportation. You can just find an express shipping company to work with and you’ll be fine. But remember to package the water properly.”
Lu Qingjiu asked, “How should I package it?”
Zhu Miaomiao said, “The more high-end it looks, the better. And you should put as little as possible in every bottle, it’ll be best if you only put enough for one person to use. Let me think… Ah, how about I just design a bottle for you to package it in?”
Lu Qingjiu smiled and said, “Then I’ll have to reimburse you for your efforts.”
Zhu Miaomiao broke out into loud laughter.
In the company, the two of them were in different departments. Lu Qingjiu was responsible for operations while Zhu Miaomiao was responsible for designing. Of course, even though their job descriptions were different, they both lost hair all the same. After all, as long as the client wasn’t happy, the would have to work more to redo it. It was normal for them to work overtime until eleven, twelve at night.
Doing as she said she would, Zhu Miaomiao took out her iPad and began designing. She even planned on going with Lu Qingjiu to the glass factory in the city to discuss making the bottles.
In order to repay Zhu Miaomiao for her hard work, Lu Qingjiu prepared a big meal. He got Bai Yuehu to kill one of the fighting chickens in the courtyard and took out some beef from the freezer to defrost.
Out of the ten fighting chickens, there was one rooster and nine hens. Every hen produced one egg per day, and the eggs were much bigger than the eggs Lu Qingjiu usually saw. Most importantly, almost all of them were double yolks. The colour of the yolks were extremely good, a beautiful, fresh yellow. Scrambled eggs or tomato and egg soup made with these eggs would always be incredibly delicious. Ordinary eggs simply couldn’t compare.
Of course, since the taste of the eggs were good, so the taste of the chickens would definitely be great.
Lu Qingjiu stewed the dried mushrooms he had collected from the mountains last time with the chickens. Even before they were completely cooked, the entire house was filled with the strong, alluring aroma of chicken soup.
Foxes loved eating chickens the most. The little fox drooled from the smell as it squatted by the kitchen door and watched the stove with wide eyes. Lu Qingjiu found it funny, but the funniest thing was the Rain Master’s Concubine riding on the little fox’s neck. She currently had made the fox’s fur into her nest, curling up inside and poking her head out. Seeing her like this, Lu Qingjiu knew that she must be hungry so he got a candy and pushed it into her arms. After taking it, she carefully held it in her arms and disappeared in the little fox’s fluff once more.
After feeding the little fox a piece of chicken to stave off his hunger, Lu Qingjiu made stewed beef with potatoes and shredded beef with pickled peppers. He was even planning on buying a few pickle jars when he went to town tomorrow. The days were getting colder so it was the perfect time to make pickles. If the days were too hot, the jars could easily grow mold.
Sure enough, the chicken soup was as delicious as Lu Qingjiu imagined. It was just that this time he had stewed too little, so everyone didn’t eat enough. But Lu Qingjiu was planning on getting a few more eggs to let them hatch a few chicks, then kill two more to eat.
“That’s too cruel,” after hearing this, Zhu Miaomiao expressed, “When the time comes can you send me one?”
Lu Qingjiu, “…” Your morals are really fickle.
That night, Bai Yuehu went out for a walk. When he came back, he asked Lu QIngjiu if he wanted to drink milk.
Hearing this, Lu Qingjiu didn’t quite understand. “Why are you suddenly bringing up milk?” But Bai Yuehu’s words had reminded Lu Qingjiu that they really could buy a cow back to milk. Even though they could buy packaged milk in town, it wouldn’t be as fresh as milk straight from a cow.
“My friend sent me a cow.” Bai Yuehu’s next words were shocking. “If you want it, I’ll bring it over.”
Hearing this, Lu Qingjiu looked at Bai Yuehu doubtfully. “It’s really a cow and not something else?”
Bai Yuehu was silent for a moment. “Anyways its milk is pretty much the same as cow’s milk, it’ll make do.”
Lu Qingjiu was amused by Bai Yuehu’s words. He nodded and said, “Alright, we just so happen to be lacking a dairy cow. It’s fine if we keep it. Just, does it eat grass like cows do?”
Bai Yuehu said, “Letting it eat grass is fine.” These words clearly meant that that thing could make do with grass, so Lu Qingjiu didn’t have to worry too much.
The next day, Bai Yuehu brought back a very strange looking cow from elsewhere, just as he said he would. The cow was completely black and it only had one giant eye on its face. With its long, long eyelashes, it actually looked a little cute.
Zhu Miaomiao just so happened to be at home. Seeing the cow, she was stunned. “Why does this cow only have one eye?”
Bai Yuehu said from the side, “It’s disabled.”
The cow, “…”
Zhu Miaomiao, “Disabled? There’s this kind of disability?”
Bai Yuehu, “If I say it’s disabled, it’s disabled.”
Faced with the unfriendly look in Bai Yuehu’s eyes, Zhu Miaomiao’s desire to live made her give up her questioning. She said, “Okay, fine.”
From the side, Lu Qingjiu laughed, “Why do you care about how it looks? Isn’t it fine as long as the milk tastes good?”
Zhu Miaomiao said, “That’s true…”
