Chapter Ch93.1 - Return

Chapter Ch93.1 - Return

In order to compensate for Yin Xun’s broken heart, Lu Qingjiu made a big pot of mutton the next day. Of course, because his cold was slightly aggravated, he did not touch cold water in the kitchen, but let Xiao Hua continue to help. At first, Yin Xun wanted to help, but Lu Qingjiu considered the fact that squatting in the toilet while having diarrhea in this weather could lead to death …… so he refused mercilessly. Yin Xun could still help Xiao Hua with relatively simple kitchen tasks, such as going outside to scoop some melted snow to be filtered and boiled.

The snow was a little different from actual ordinary winter snow, which contained many impurities and was undrinkable. However, this snow was very clean, and even had a slightly sweet taste, which was perfect for boiling soup.

Drinking warm mutton soup, Lu Qingjiu and the family’s youngsters nestled in the warmth of the kang. Yin Xun sat next to it, gnawing chunks of mutton. The mutton hadn’t been stewed till it was soft, so the meat was particularly difficult to chew. He tore at it with his teeth, his face looking extraordinarily hideous.

“Yin Xun, how’s Bai Yuehu doing?” Lu Qingjiu was a little worried about Bai Yuehu.

Yin Xun reached out and wiped his mouth: “Do you want to see?”

Lu Qingjiu asked: “Can I?”

Yin Xun said, “I can’t guarantee that you would be able to see everything, but you should be able to see Bai Yuehu.” He chewed the meat and said vaguely, “Do you want to give it a try?” Bai Yuehu should not have left Shuifu Village, as long as he was in Shuifu, Yin Xun would be able to see him. However, since he did not know how the situation was, he did not dare to promise anything to Lu Qingjiu.

“Yes!” Lu Qingjiu said decisively. It had been three days and Bai Yuehu had not been heard from. If he could, of course, he wanted to see Bai Yuehu’s current situation.

Yin Xun said, “Then wait until I finish eating the meat.”

After getting rid of all the mutton in this big pot, Yin Xun warmed up completely. He touched the warm and round belly, turned his head to look at Lu Qingjiu, and motioned for him to sit down.

Lu Qingjiu sat next to Yin Xun.

Yin Xun said, “I can only try, but I don’t know what you can see…”

Lu Qingjiu nodded.

Seeing Lu Qingjiu’s decisive expression, Yin Xun bit his finger. After his skin was broken, no blood flowed out, but some congealed liquid did. Then, Yin Xun stretched out his hand and wiped that congealed liquid on Lu Qingjiu’s eyelids, motioning for Lu Qingjiu to blink and bring the substance into his eyes. Lu Qingjiu felt that his eyelids were cold and blinked vigorously. The substance entered his eyeballs and his eyes seemed to be covered with a layer of fuzzy plastic. Although it felt a bit icy, it was not uncomfortable.

“It’s starting.” Yin Xun whispered.

Lu Qingjiu said okay.

As soon as Yin Xun’s words fell, a wonderful picture appeared in front of Lu Qingjiu’s eyes. Although he was sitting in the same place, his vision was floating in the air, at a bird’s-eye view, the scene of the entire Shuifu Village was unobstructed. This was Yin Xun’s perspective. Before Lu Qingjiu could sigh, his view quickly changed. Then, he saw a sea of clouds and rugged rocks.

In the sea of clouds, something seemed to be moving quickly. Lu Qingjiu took a closer look and realized that it was actually Bai Yuehu. Five dazzling flames surrounded Bai Yuehu, and Lu Qingjiu recognized at a glance that these were the five fire dragons from before.

Fighting against the five fire dragons, Bai Yuehu was not disadvantaged. He soared through the clouds and occasionally swiped his claws on the black stone, which caused tremors on the ground. Turning around again, his vigorous and long tail abruptly threw a fire dragon down into the abyss and his black claws swept across the body of the other fire dragon, splitting the fire dragon directly open, revealing bloody internal organs.

These scenes were completed in a flash. Lu Qingjiu was terrified. Although Bai Yuehu was tough, there were five dragons and he had some serious wounds on his body. What made Lu Qingjiu puzzled was that Bai Yuehu seemed to be protecting something, and refused to take a step back. Even if those fire dragons pounced on his face, he still faced them head-on, instead of choosing to step back.

Lu Qingjiu’s gaze swept past Bai Yuehu and towards the place behind him. A black coloured peak plunged into the sky among the lingering clouds. The stones on the peak were as smooth as a blade, making it impossible for a mortal to climb. The top of the mountain was also covered by clouds, making it difficult to see. Lu Qingjiu felt that this mountain seemed a bit familiar and when he thought about it carefully, he suddenly remembered that he had seen this place before. It’s just that when he saw this mountain, there seemed to be a black dragon swimming around the mountain. Could it be…that was Bai Yuehu’s original form?

As Lu Qingjiu was thinking, he heard a loud noise again. He looked down, only to find that one of the red dragons was slammed into the mountain by Bai Yuehu. After being slammed into the mountain, the red dragon didn’t struggle and instead tried to climb up the mountain peak. Bai Yuehu opened his mouth and bit its body directly, dragging it down abruptly.

It was too cold today, so Bai Yuehu’s breaths were all cold.  In his black eyes, there was no longer the laziness and tenderness of the past, only the cruelty of cold-blooded beasts. At this moment, fighting and killing occupied all his soul, Lu Qingjiu even saw a hint of excitement from his expression.

Fortunately, Bai Yuehu had the upper hand in this battle. Those red dragons did not seem to be his opponents. Just as Lu Qingjiu had this thought, he had an uneasy feeling. He noticed that while three red dragons were harassing Bai Yuehu, the other two red dragons landed on the snow nearby.

One of them opened its mouth and swallowed the other one. After swallowing its companion, the colour of the red dragon became more vivid. Lu Qingjiu was reminded of his grandfather’s red hair and eyes. He recalled it carefully, and after comparing them, he realized that the colour of these red dragons was much lighter than that of grandpa’s hair. If his grandfather’s hair and eyes were the red colour of blood spilled from humans, these dragons were more the colour of bright flames. Although they were also red, they also had an orange tint. However, after devouring their own kind, the colour on their bodies began to deepen to blood red.

Lu Qingjiu had a bad premonition. As he was about to continue watching, he felt that his chest was a little stuffy and nauseous. This feeling became stronger and stronger, and he was finally forced to close his eyes and lose control. He leaned on the bed and vomited vigorously.

“Eurgh——” Although he didn’t spit out anything, the scene in front of Lu Qingjiu also disappeared.

Yin Xun, who was sitting next to him, quickly brought some water and cleared the substance from Lu Qingjiu’s eyes. When Lu Qingjiu came back to his senses, his sight had returned to the room, and the scene of dragons fighting each other had disappeared.

“Qingjiu, are you okay?!” Yin Xun asked nervously.

“I’m okay.” Lu Qingjiu shook his head and said anxiously, “I want to see more…”

“No way.” Yin Xun said, “You can’t watch anymore, your body can’t handle it.”

Lu Qingjiu was helpless: “But this is the critical point…”

Yin Xun said, “How about I help you see it?”

Lu Qingjiu said: “That works.”

Yin Xun was in a daze for a while and then blankly looked at Lu Qingjiu: “I can’t see anything, it’s a black screen.”

Lu Qingjiu: “…”

Yin Xun: “It won’t work even if I changed the channel.”

Lu Qingjiu: “…” What the hell is changing channels?

Yin Xun finally shook his head, reluctantly expressing that he really couldn’t see it. Not only Bai Yuehu, but the entire Shuifu Village was pitch black, there was nothing he could see.

Lu Qingjiu was a little anxious, but what’s the use of being anxious? He really couldn’t help Bai Yuehu in a fight, and it didn’t help much just  holding a small flag beside him to wave and cheer.

Lu Qingjiu looked at the big hole in the sky with both loss and anxiety in his heart. But instead of sharing his feelings, he looked at Yin Xun, saying that everything would be fine, Bai Yuehu would definitely not lose.

Yin Xun looked at Lu Qingjiu’s expression with a sad face and did not speak for a long time.

Lu Qingjiu no longer indulged his negative emotions. He said: “I need to think about what to cook for him when he comes back.” After fighting for so long, he had to be very tired and hungry when he returned. He would definitely want to eat a warm meal, but… when would he come back?

This heavy snow lasted for seven days.

On the seventh day, the big hole in the sky began to shrink slowly and the snow stopped. At this time, Lu Qingjiu happened to be sitting by the window when he saw an ice-blue butterfly flying up from the mountains and forests, fluttering its blue wings, and flying towards the big hole.

Lu Qingjiu heard a knock on the door. At first, he thought it was his own illusion, but when another knock on the door sounded, he turned his head to look at Yin Xun, and they were both surprised.

“Someone is knocking on the door?” Lu Qingjiu asked.

Yin Xun said, “I heard it too!”

“I’m going to open the door!” Lu Qingjiu hurriedly got up and walked outside. He had been waiting for Bai Yuehu for a long time, worrying all this time. At this moment, he felt that everything was finally over when he heard the long-awaited knock on the door.

With a soft creak, Lu Qingjiu opened the door cautiously and saw the person standing outside the door – it was Bai Yuehu. He was dressed in black, staring at Lu Qingjiu tenderly, with the bits of snow hanging on his hair on his shoulders. He called his name as usual: “Qingjiu.”

Lu Qingjiu’s chest rattled like a drum. He didn’t care about anything else. He stretched out his hands and hugged Bai Yuehu, burying his head deeply on his shoulder: “Bai Yuehu! You are finally back!!!”

Bai Yuehu said: “En, I’m back.”

However, Lu Qingjiu noticed something was amiss and some doubts appeared in his expression. The hands that had held Bai Yuehu tightly also slowly loosened.

The smell on Bai Yuehu’s body was not right. Although it was a bit strange to say it, Lu Qingjiu was sure that the person in front of him had an extra smell because of his and Bai Yuehu’s close relationship. It was very faint. If it weren’t for Lu Qingjiu who happened to bury his head on Bai Yuehu’s shoulder, he wouldn’t be able to smell it. It was a subtle fragrance, like a cold breath, carrying a hint of the icy mountain spring, drillinginto his mind from his nasal cavity, almost as if it could freeze his brain.

Lu Qingjiu took a step back.

Seeing this, Bai Yuehu seemed a little confused. “Qingjiu, what’s wrong?”

Lu Qingjiu frowned at him.

Bai Yuehu: “Qingjiu…”

“Who are you?”
