Chapter 539: Spy and Family Dinner

Chapter 539: Spy and Family Dinner

"Oh~ I see, I'm Michael and it hasn't been that long since I moved here"

"Oh really? That must mean you don't know a lot of people here yet. If you want, you can come over to my place, my roommates and I are hosting a party"

Michael's words immediately caused a misunderstanding since Elisha's eyes quickly brightened up on his words and assumed things quite differently from what Michael was planning to achieve!

"Uhh…sure, I'll try to drop by if I have time" slightly taken aback, Michael was about to refuse when he realized that it would be quite rude to outright reject her since she acted at least polite and instead gave her an answer that would give him an excuse if they ever meet again since he never planned to even go in the first place.

"Great! This is my address! I hope I see you there tonight, see ya!"

The face of the woman immediately brightened up with Michael's reply as she magically pulled out a small sharpie from somewhere and grabbed one of Michael's hands and wrote down her address on his palm.

Then after doing all that, she quickly took off like a cat that got her tail stepped on.

Michael just raised his hand as a means to say goodbye and continued on the road while thinking, 'Hmmm..did she really invite me because she's interested in me or does she have another agenda for suddenly approaching me?'

On the other hand, Elisha who had already ran far ahead of Michael took out her phone and hurriedly dialed someone's phone number.

Bzzzt! Bzzzt!

It rang for a moment before it was picked up, [Is it done?]

The rough voice of a man was heard from the other line.

"Yes, but will this really work?"

[Of course it will, any man would fall for the Honey Trap! It worked on me, so why wouldn't it work on others?!]

'Because you're shallow and dumb? Besides, I doubt that person would even bother to come,' she sneered inside, then she remembered the nonchalant expression on Michael's face and that fake smile he wore the entire time while they were talking.

"Well if you say so. My job is done here, now pay me" she demanded, she didn't really care what the outcome of tonight would be. Right now, the only thing she cares about is being paid for doing her job and wasting her time for something so stupid that she even wondered why she accepted this job in the first place.

[You'll only get your money once the operation tonight is completed]

"No, I want it right now. If you can't, then at least half of it. I just need reassurance that I'm getting my money, you know full well know the dangers I'm putting myself in" Elisha said and made a small compromise, she's not taking no for an answer.

[Isn't it why you're being paid a lot for this?]

"Yes, but I need it..right now and besides, it's not like I will be the one who will lead tonight's operation. I'll just be watching from the sidelines, you don't have to worry that I'll suddenly disappear. After all, I'll still need to receive the reimaining half of my money"

The man replied calmly, but she could clearly feel the anger contained within his voice, but she didn't care about his feelings and was still adamant about it. At this point, she didn't care about the repercussions she'd received after doing this.

[...]

There was only silence from the other side, who seemed either contemplating what she said or just speechless at her brazen behavior towards him.

[Fine, but only this time since you have been working with me for a long time, but there won't be a next time, Elisha]

Elisha looked behind him and saw that Michael was still a distance away from her, then she increased her pace and immediately made a turn into the next fork that deviated from the main road and disappeared from there.

When Michael reached the fork that Elisha had disappeared to, he stopped in his tracks and looked towards it while contemplating about something in his mind.

He took his phone out that's strapped on his arm and started browsing through a series of numbers before making a call to someone.

"Hey, it's me. I want you to look into a woman that goes by the name of Elisha. She lives at…" Michael relayed the woman's information written on his palm.

[Got it, you'll have it by lunch tomorrow at the latest]

"Hmmm, I'm counting on you"

Tut!

Then Michael ended the call while muttering, "It doesn't hurt to be cautious, I still have enemies that I haven't taken care of yet"

Night time, a car is seen speeding down the road before stopping on the road in front of a very familiar house.

Michael slowly got down from his car and looked at the time on his watch, 6:28 pm.

"Just in time, and it seems I'm the only one who hasn't arrived yet" Michael muttered when he saw the familiar car that Allison always drives parked at the driveway.

Ding dong~!

Michael had made his way over and he hadn't even reached the door but he could already hear the boisterous laughter of the people inside, especially Dylan's lame jokes, which he had always wondered about how he had hooked up with girls with those lines.

He rang the door and it wasn't long before someone opened it.

"Mike, come in! You're just in time!"

"Hello, Miss A! Sorry for the intrusion and on the short notice that I'm coming tonight" Michael greeted and gave her a quick hug.

"Oh please~! I kept telling you that you're always welcome here! You're no strangers to us, we're pretty much family at this point!" Adalind laughed and gave Michael a light smack on his chest.

Michael smiled and said, "Thank you!"

"Anyway, come in! The others are eagerly waiting for you inside" Adalind said.

"I hope you've made enough, cause I'm starving, Miss A" Michael let out a light laugh and walked in.

"Of course, I've made enough for everyone!" Adalind laughed and closed the door behind them.

"Dylan! Mike's here!"

"Dude! You're finally here!"
