Chapter 1529: 1528 Pregnancy is unrelated to the duration of time
“That’s to help you understand my work,” Gu Kai smiled as he defended himself.
An Lin blinked, curiously looking at Bai Yiyi, “Yiyi, doesn’t Ah Kai only tell those stories to women he’s dating? How come he told you, too?”
“Yeah, he told me, too, and it was during dinner,” Bai Yiyi pouted and complained.
“What did he talk about?” An Lin continued to ask.
Gu Kai cleared his throat and casually pointed at a plate of crayfish, “An Lin, did you know that recently many people who eat crayfish have been diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis… In simple terms, eating crayfish could possibly lead to…”
“Ugh…”
Beside him, Bai Yiyi suddenly covered her mouth, looking sick, dropped her chopsticks, and ran towards the bathroom.
An Lin chuckled at the sight, glancing in the direction of the bathroom and kindly reminded, “Ah Kai, remember to buy a durian before you go home.”
Gu Kai blinked in confusion. What he said wasn’t that disgusting.
Why would Yiyi react like that?
Suddenly, a thought occurred to him, and his eyes lit up with joy as he dropped his chopsticks and followed her into the bathroom.
An Lin looked at Gu Kai, then turned her head to look at Qin Mu.
Qin Mu furrowed his brows slightly, thoughtfully glancing towards the bathroom, from which the faint sound of Bai Yiyi vomiting could be heard.
“Maybe Ah Kai is going to be a dad again,”
he said, a smile playing at the corners of his lips, in a calm tone.
Inside the bathroom, Gu Kai stood to the side, watching Bai Yiyi with care.
After Bai Yiyi finished vomiting, she rinsed her mouth, and only then did Gu Kai ask, “Yiyi, are you pregnant?”
Last time, Bai Yiyi tricked him, saying her aunt was visiting.
But that night, they had spent a passionate time together at the hotel, and Gu Kai thought about it. Yiyi’s period had been late for a few days, but her aunt still hadn’t come.
When asked by him, Bai Yiyi froze.
These past few days, she’s been busy with work and hadn’t really paid attention.
Besides, it was only a few days late, which was normal. But with Gu Kai bringing it up, her heart skipped a beat.
“No way?”
Bai Yiyi’s voice was faint.
Gu Kai reached out to rub her hair, “Why not? We’re together every day, not using protection, it’s very normal to get pregnant.”
Bai Yiyi slapped his hand away, “We haven’t been married for long.”
“And didn’t you get pregnant that one night before?” Gu Kai mentioned this with a mischievous smile, “Yiyi, getting pregnant has nothing to do with the length of time.”
Implying that he was quite capable.
Bai Yiyi rolled her eyes, turned, and walked out of the bathroom.
Gu Kai followed behind her, brimming with pride, a blooming smile on his handsome face.
“Yiyi, stop eating, let’s go to the hospital first, I’ll take you for a check-up,” Gu Kai said, then told Qin Mu and An Lin, “You two keep eating, Yiyi and I are leaving first.”
With that, he pulled Bai Yiyi away, leaving Qin Mu’s house.
In the car, Gu Kai considerately fastened the seatbelt for Bai Yiyi, “Yiyi, think about what you’d like to eat later?”
Seeing his face lit up with a smile, Bai Yiyi couldn’t help but laugh, “You don’t have to be so nice to me.”
“Of course, I do,” Gu Kai said seriously, his laughter subdued. “When you were pregnant with Tongtong, I wasn’t there, so I couldn’t be with you, but this time, I want to be with you throughout.”
Bai Yiyi felt warmth in her heart, and her smile softened unconsciously, “It’s not confirmed yet; let’s talk when it’s real.”
“It’s gotta be,” Gu Kai said confidently.
“Aren’t you supposed to take my pulse? Go ahead and check,” Bai Yiyi joked, holding out her hand.
Gu Kai shook his head, “Let’s go to the hospital for an ultrasound instead.”
“Are you saying your medical skills aren’t up to the mark?”
“Of course not,” Gu Kai immediately defended himself.
Upstairs, in the dining room, only Qin Mu and An Lin were left, and the atmosphere suddenly became quiet.
Qin Mu offered An Lin some food, and she faintly refused, “You eat, don’t mind me.”
“An Lin, do you want a baby?”
Qin Mu looked at her with tenderness in his eyes, asking gently.
An Lin forced a smile, denying, “I don’t.”
The truth is, she wanted to have his child, and she had thought about it before: once he loved her back, she’d have his baby.
She had even fantasized about who the child would look more like, her or Qin Mu.
Qin Mu seemed to anticipate her answer, and smiled, “If it were our child, the boy would definitely look like me, the girl, like you.”
Hearing this, An Lin couldn’t help but look at him.
The bright crystal lights illuminated his handsome features, with sharp contours and thin lips, the way he smiled was irresistibly charming.
If there were a miniature version of him, it would be like Ziyi from Ranran’s house and Mo Xiuchen.
“If our son looks like me, wouldn’t he be very handsome?”
Qin Mu teased as he noticed her gaze lingering.
An Lin snapped back, picked up some food, and mused, “You weren’t handsome as a kid.”
“Not handsome? I remember when we used to play games, you always wanted to be my bride, not Tang Yang’s. Isn’t that because I was handsome?”
Qin Mu’s words drew An Lin’s attention back to him.
“Do you still remember things from so long ago?”
She thought he had long forgotten those childhood memories.
Qin Mu raised an eyebrow and said nonchalantly, “Of course I remember. Back then, Tang Yang got mad at me because you didn’t want to be his bride. It wasn’t until days later, when Feng Wanfeng agreed to be his bride, that he made up with me.”
“I didn’t like you since then.”
An Lin’s tone was stiff as her eyes flickered.
“I remember there was another time when a really unattractive girl in your class asked you to pass a love letter to me. What did you say back then?”
Qin Mu asked, unsure whether he really forgot or just pretended not to remember.
He looked at An Lin with a smile in his eyes.
An Lin instinctively replied in the same tone, “I directly tossed the letter back at her and said, ‘You look so ugly, how could you match our handsome Ah Mu?'”
“Yes, that’s exactly it.”
Qin Mu laughed out loud.
An Lin also laughed at herself. Childhood embarrassments were plenty.
Seeing her bright smile, Qin Mu’s gaze deepened, and images of the past—spanning from their childhood to their youth—flooded his mind. They really had known each other for a long time.
There was a moment of silence in the dining room.
Yet the atmosphere wasn’t awkward. Instead, a subtle tension that made hearts race filled the air.
In their shared gaze, all the memories were beautiful. An Lin seemed to forget that the man before her was the husband who had hurt her heart.
Her smile slowly faded, and finally, she sat quietly, looking into his eyes.
Suddenly, Qin Mu put down his chopsticks, leaned forward, reached his large hand around her neck, pulled her towards him, and kissed her on the lips…
