Bai Xiaoxiao was surprised, not because Meng Ke came to the Bai Family early in the morning.

But because Xiao Yuting also showed up at her house so early.

Bai Xiaoxiao raised an eyebrow in curiosity, countering, “Are you two so broke that you can’t afford breakfast?”

“Xiaoxiao, don’t say such things. Little Meng is here specifically to pick you up, and Yuting was invited by me.”

Mr. Bai explained with a smile, looking at his daughter with eyes full of affection.

“Huh? Dad, why?”

“Let me explain.”

Xiao Yuting spoke up, “When I was jogging this morning, I ran into Uncle Bai and decided to come along with him.”

At this point, Xiao Yuting glanced at Meng Ke across from him, “I just didn’t expect that Boss Meng would be here too.”

“You guys continue chatting. I’ll check if my mom has finished breakfast.”

Mother Bai gave her a look and whispered, “Little Meng came here specifically to pick you up, and Yuting is your father’s guest.”

“But they really came just to bum breakfast.”

As long as Meng Ke and Xiao Yuting didn’t spill the beans about last night, it was fine.

She had been somewhat worried upon coming into the kitchen, fearing those two might slip up or her mother might have asked Meng Ke about last night.

The originally quiet family breakfast became much livelier with the addition of Xiao Yuting and Meng Ke.

Bai Xiaoxiao didn’t know how her parents felt, but she certainly found it uncomfortable having both a man she’d secretly loved for over a decade and her current boyfriend there.

“Uncle Bai, now that Xiaoxiao is back, are you planning to retire?”

Though Xiao Yuting was once a playboy, his image was still good, and he ate very elegantly.

Mr. Bai glanced at Xiaoxiao, who was drinking congee, and answered with a smile, “I’d love to, but Xiaoxiao just came back and still isn’t familiar with the company’s affairs. I’ll stick around for a while longer.”

Bai Xiaoxiao chuckled, “Mom, don’t try to make waves between me and Dad. I’m just thinking, Dad can’t leave the company.”

“I’ll give you three months. After three months, your dad and I are going on vacation, so by year’s end, you must manage the company.”

Upon hearing Mother Bai’s serious tone, Xiao Yuting couldn’t help but laugh, “Xiaoxiao, good luck.”

“Mom, how can you be like this?”

Bai Xiaoxiao furrowed her brow in distress, even though she wished to lessen her father’s workload after returning to China.

But she wouldn’t actually ignore the company.

“I’ll give you another option.” Mother Bai chuckled at Xiaoxiao’s pitiful expression.

Bai Xiaoxiao quickly asked, “What option?”

“Quickly get married, give us a grandson or granddaughter, then I’ll grant you another year.”

“Nah, I’d rather manage the company. Dad, you can take Mom on vacation tomorrow, I’ll handle the company.”

As Bai Xiaoxiao finished, she realized several pairs of eyes were simultaneously looking at her.

She blinked, puzzled, and asked, “Why are you all staring at me?”

Meng Ke, who had been smiling silently, finally spoke warmly, “Xiaoxiao, you might want to consider your mom’s proposal.”

Facing him, Xiao Yuting squinted his eyes and chuckled, “I think Xiaoxiao’s choice is wise. Xiaoxiao’s just returned from abroad, there’s no rush to get married.”

Meng Ke furrowed his brow but quickly returned to a smile, “Xiaoxiao, if you don’t want to manage the company, we can hire a professional manager.”

“No need, I can handle the company myself.”

Bai Xiaoxiao smiled, lowered her head, and continued sipping her congee.

Xiao Yuting noticed the fleeting look of disappointment in Meng Ke’s eyes and instantly felt quite pleased.

“I’ve had enough, take your time eating.”

His gaze flitted to Bai Xiaoxiao’s bowl, the smile at the corner of his mouth deepening, “Xiaoxiao is still the same, whether it’s food or congee, not leaving a single grain.”
