Chapter 1883: Chapter 1882: Don’t Be Anxious
Luo Haofeng rushed into the living room.
His narrow eyes swept across the room, but Bai Xiaoxiao was nowhere to be seen. He immediately ran into the kitchen and asked Tian Ruoyi, “Ruoyi, has Xiaoxiao left?”
Despite knowing the situation might be very serious, Tian Ruoyi was still startled by Luo Haofeng’s panicked demeanor.
However, she quickly reacted and shook her head urgently, “Don’t worry, Xiaoxiao is upstairs in her room, I wanted to keep her company, but she wouldn’t let me.”
Before she finished speaking, Luo Haofeng’s tall figure had already rushed into the kitchen.
The sound of footsteps thudding echoed from the staircase.
Without looking, one could sense Luo Haofeng’s desperation to find Bai Xiaoxiao.
Tian Ruoyi’s brow furrowed slightly; beyond her worry, she was of no help.
As soon as Luo Haofeng ran upstairs, he headed straight for the master bedroom.
Yet when his tall figure stood at the doorway of the master bedroom, facing the tightly closed mahogany door, he hesitated.
A man always fearless of the skies and the earth was now afraid to open this door.
Afraid of seeing the woman inside.
His hands at his sides clenched tightly into fists, his gaze fixated on the door in front of him.
Xiaoxiao was right inside the room. By opening the door, he could see her.
Earlier on the way back, he was so flustered he nearly collided with another car because Bai Xiaoxiao didn’t respond to any of his words.
He didn’t know if she heard him or not.
Or maybe, Xiaoxiao simply didn’t want to pay attention to him.
His heart was in turmoil.
Desperate enough to wish for wings to fly back to her side to explain…
But now, he was afraid.
He could feel his heart tremble fiercely, afraid of seeing Xiaoxiao’s eyes filled with hatred.
Afraid that his eyes would no longer see any tenderness or love.
Afraid Xiaoxiao might speak decisively, severing ties with him.
Afraid of so many things…
But all these fears boil down to a fear of losing her.
Thinking of this possibility sent a stabbing pain to his chest.
It took so much effort to reach this point with Xiaoxiao, finally gaining her parents’ approval.
He guarded against his mother vigilantly but overlooked the secret from years ago, which wasn’t only known by his mother.
Something dark was gathering in the depths of his eyes.
Time ticked by, second by second.
Luo Haofeng stood straight at the door, but his hand couldn’t bring itself to push it open.

In the hotel.
Mo Xiuchen relayed the news Jiang Hui had shared to Lu Zhiyan and Tang Yang over the phone.
After hanging up, he rubbed his temple and pondered for a moment, softly pressing the speed dial.
The call connected and Wen Ran’s gentle voice came through, “Hello, Xiuchen.”
“Ranran, have you had dinner yet?”
Mo Xiuchen’s lips curled into a gentle smile as he asked.
“I’m just about to have dinner, how about you? Did the contract negotiation go smoothly?”
“Yes, it went well. I have to attend a banquet shortly.” Mo Xiuchen glanced at his wristwatch; he didn’t want to attend tonight’s banquet.
“Then hurry along, don’t worry about me and the kids.”
Wen Ran’s voice bore a hint of laughter, prompting Mo Xiuchen to laugh softly, “Ranran, there’s something I need to tell you. Don’t panic after you hear it.”
“What is it?”
Perhaps his tone was too sincere; though not solemn, it was obviously important.
Telling her not to worry.
Wen Ran’s heart tightened; could it be that Jiang Hui set him up?
“Ranran, it’s like this, remember when Xu Wanqi mentioned that Meng Ke assigned a task to Jiang Hui?”
Mo Xiuchen tried to keep his tone gentle, not hurried.
“Yes, I remember.”
“This afternoon Jiang Hui went to see Qi Meiling’s brother Qi Jianlin and learned about what Wu Jingfang did to Aunt Qiao years ago.”
“Does Xiaoxiao know?”
Wen Ran’s voice came through anxiously.
Involving Xiaoxiao, how could Wen Ran not be anxious?
Especially about such a matter.
Mo Xiuchen pursed his lips lightly and spoke plainly, “Jiang Hui has already informed Meng Ke about it. I’m unsure if Meng Ke has called Xiaoxiao; Ah Feng has already rushed home.”
“How would Meng Ke know about what happened back then?”
Mo Xiuchen remained silent for a few seconds before replying in a slightly grim voice, “Wu Jingfang told Meng Ke some things. She didn’t directly tell him, but she…”
“How can Wu Jingfang be so vicious? She’s Luo Haofeng’s mother; clearly, the past incident was her fault too, and yet she’s shameless enough to let it come to light. Having done such cruel things, and now disrupting Luo Haofeng and Xiaoxiao, doesn’t she fear retribution…”
Wen Ran, angry on the other end of the call, cursed Wu Jingfang.
Mo Xiuchen’s brow furrowed slightly.
Ranran had always been calm and gentle, rarely losing her temper, but now infuriated by Wu Jingfang’s actions, he couldn’t help but feel that Wu Jingfang indeed deserved retribution.
“Ranran, please calm down. Maybe Xiaoxiao still doesn’t know. Meng Ke will be caught soon.”
Earlier, Ranran had persuaded Xu Wanqi and now Jiang Hui also agreed to cooperate with them.
As long as Meng Ke contacts Jiang Hui, the police might pin down Meng Ke’s location and arrest him.
“Xiuchen, if you were Meng Ke, would you keep this news from Xiaoxiao?”
Wen Ran questioned.
Mo Xiuchen was momentarily at a loss.
If he were Meng Ke, he would certainly inform Bai Xiaoxiao right away to break her and Luo Haofeng up.
For just two seconds he was silent.
Yet Wen Ran understood, “Xiuchen, I’m going to call Xiaoxiao now. I’ll talk to you shortly.”
“Okay, go ahead.”
Before hanging up, Wen Ran reminded Mo Xiuchen, “Go check on her. If Xiaoxiao does know the truth, she won’t pretend as if nothing happened and continue with Luo Haofeng.”
“I know, I’ll go over soon.”
Mo Xiuchen responded gently.
Bai Xiaoxiao was Ranran’s best friend; he would certainly offer his help.
At the very least, ensuring Bai Xiaoxiao’s safety.
After Wen Ran finished speaking, she hung up the call.
Thinking of Luo Haofeng, Mo Xiuchen’s handsome eyebrows furrowed again.
He wasn’t among those naive enough to hope Bai Xiaoxiao wouldn’t learn the truth; at this point, he had to prepare for the worst.
If Bai Xiaoxiao knew the truth and broke up with Luo Haofeng, she would return to G City.
And Luo Haofeng still didn’t know that Meng Ke gathered hints from his mother, leading Jiang Hui to City B to find the Qi family father and son.
Ignorance was just temporary.
Once Luo Haofeng learned the truth, his relationship with Wu Jingfang would likely end.
Unexpectedly, after a long winded journey, they circled back to the starting point.
