Chapter 1887: Chapter 1886: Don’t Want to See Him
When Wen Ran arrived at the hotel, Bai Xiaoxiao hadn’t had dinner yet.
Since Mo Xiuchen brought her back to the hotel, she had been resting in the room.
Wen Ran deliberately bought some snacks that Bai Xiaoxiao liked. As soon as she entered the hotel, she saw Mo Xiuchen standing there waiting for her.
“Xiuchen, how is Xiaoxiao?”
Wen Ran followed him to the elevator and asked with concern.
Mo Xiuchen gave her a comforting smile, his tone gentle, “Xiaoxiao has been in the room the whole time and hasn’t come out.”
Hearing this, Wen Ran frowned deeply and said worriedly, “With what happened, she’s surely very upset.”
Walking into the elevator, Mo Xiuchen gently tightened his grip on Wen Ran’s hand, “No matter how heart-wrenching something is, it will pass.”
Just like she did back then.
After exiting the elevator, Wen Ran said to Mo Xiuchen, “Xiuchen, you go back to the room first, I’ll keep Xiaoxiao company.”
“You haven’t had dinner either, I’ll have someone bring up a dinner for you two.”
Mo Xiuchen raised his hand to brush the stray hair on her forehead, speaking with a tender tone.
Wen Ran shook her head with a smile, “Let’s wait a bit, I’ll see what Xiaoxiao wants to eat, and then have someone bring it up.”
Accompanying Wen Ran, Mo Xiuchen stood in the hallway, watching as Bai Xiaoxiao opened the door. After Wen Ran went in, he returned to his own room.
“Xiaoxiao, your eyes are all red and swollen. How long have you been crying?”
As soon as she walked in and saw Bai Xiaoxiao’s swollen eyes, Wen Ran frowned tightly, her voice filled with strong concern.
“No, I wasn’t crying the whole time.”
Bai Xiaoxiao avoided Wen Ran’s scrutinizing eyes, her voice carrying a hint of hoarseness.
Wen Ran took her hand and guided her to sit on the sofa, pouring her a glass of water, “I brought you some snacks. I heard from Xiuchen you didn’t have dinner. I also haven’t eaten dinner yet. Whatever you feel like eating, let me know, and I’ll have it brought up.”
Bai Xiaoxiao took the cup handed by Wen Ran, slightly raising her head to meet the caring look in her eyes, a trace of warmth appearing amidst her overwhelming sadness.
But her nose tingled, and something was about to escape from her eyes.
Instinctively biting her lip hard, she looked up at the ceiling, “Ranran, I don’t want to eat anything.”
“How can that be? Even if you don’t want to eat, you should eat a little for the baby in your belly.”
As Wen Ran spoke, she opened a bag of snacks and handed them to her, saying softly, “Xiaoxiao, I know you’re really upset right now, just like when I first learned about my identity, and about all those things Fu Jingyi did to me.”
Bai Xiaoxiao’s tears welled up in her eyes, blinking them away, but they still rolled down her cheeks.
Seeing this pained Wen Ran, who sat beside her holding her hand, gently embracing her.
“Xiaoxiao, no matter how sad and distressing things are, they will pass.”
“I just hate myself. If I had known these things earlier…” Bai Xiaoxiao’s voice was choked with sobs and regret.
If she had known from the start, she would never have fallen in love with Luo Haofeng.
Understanding her unspoken words, “These things aren’t your fault, nor are they Luo Haofeng’s fault. It’s Wu Jingfang’s fault, that woman with malice in her heart. But after so many years, Aunt Qiao agreeing to let you and Luo Haofeng be together signifies that she has let go of it in her heart.”
“How could she have let go?”
Bai Xiaoxiao looked at Wen Ran with agitation, “My mom always opposed it. I forced her, I went cold on her for Luo Haofeng. My mother only has one daughter, but I’ve always been doing things that hurt her deeply.”
If she had never met Luo Haofeng, if she had never dated him, her mom wouldn’t have to remember those unbearable pasts at the sight of him.
And suffer Wu Jingfang’s humiliation.
Bai Xiaoxiao couldn’t forgive herself. How could she be so unfilial?
Wen Ran pulled out a tissue to wipe her tears, softly comforting her, “Don’t blame yourself like this. You didn’t know these things before, and even if you did, those things weren’t done by Luo Haofeng. He’s innocent.”
“The grudges of the previous generation shouldn’t be borne by you.”
“But I don’t want to face him now. Every time I see him, I think of…” Bai Xiaoxiao’s voice was filled with intense pain.
Wen Ran’s heart ached, hurriedly stopping her from continuing, “Xiaoxiao, don’t say anymore. If you don’t want to see him, then we just won’t see him.”
Who, facing such a situation, could remain calm?
Especially since Xiaoxiao is now pregnant. Being too sad is really not good.
Bai Xiaoxiao didn’t say anything further, letting Wen Ran hold her gently, wiping away her tears.
The warmth Wen Ran conveyed to her seemed to genuinely ease a little of her inner pain.
After an unknown amount of time, Bai Xiaoxiao softly spoke, “Ranran, let’s order something to eat!”
“Alright, what do you want to eat?”
Wen Ran was delighted to hear Bai Xiaoxiao willing to eat something, asking with concern.
Bai Xiaoxiao’s expression was filled with sadness, “I actually don’t know what to eat. There’s nothing I feel like eating, just order something.”
She didn’t really want to eat but thought about how Wen Ran also hadn’t eaten.
She couldn’t selfishly let Ranran go hungry with her just because she didn’t want to eat, so she reluctantly asked Wen Ran to order something.
Wen Ran thought for a moment, “How about we have some porridge?”
Considering Bai Xiaoxiao’s current emotions, she might not have any appetite for anything.
Bai Xiaoxiao gently nodded, indicating she had no objections.
**
Mo Xiuchen arrived at Luo Haofeng’s house and saw him sitting alone in the living room smoking.
It was unclear how many cigarettes he had smoked; the large living room was filled with a thick smell of smoke, which was quite overpowering.
This made Mo Xiuchen, who rarely smoked, frown. He waved away the smoke around his nose, speaking in a heavy voice, “Ah Feng, are you planning to smoke yourself to death?”
Slumped deep into the sofa, Luo Haofeng looked up at Mo Xiuchen upon hearing the voice, then lowered his gaze, raising the cigarette to his mouth.
However, before the cigarette could reach his lips, Mo Xiuchen snatched it away.
He extinguished it and threw it into the ashtray filled with cigarette butts.
Mo Xiuchen’s tall figure stood in front of the sofa, looking down with sharp eyes at Luo Haofeng, “Do you want me to punch some sense into you?”
His voice was deep and filled with anger.
It seemed as though in the next second, his fist would land on Luo Haofeng.
Luo Haofeng slightly tilted his face, looking at Mo Xiuchen with eyes full of pain and confusion.
After a few seconds of confrontation, he spoke sarcastically, “Go ahead and hit me!”
A good beating, perhaps, might ease the pain in his heart just a bit.
Mo Xiuchen grit his teeth, and in the next moment, really landed a heavy punch on Luo Haofeng’s face, causing him to grunt, a bruised patch immediately appearing at the corner of his mouth.
Mo Xiuchen’s questions came in a barrage, “Luo Haofeng, don’t forget that you once said, no matter what, you would never let go again.”
