Chapter 1898: 1897: I Would Rather Not Be Your Son

Chapter 1898: Chapter 1897: I Would Rather Not Be Your Son

An Lin was amused by Ziyi’s words and laughed out loud, “Ziyi is so protective of his sister, it seems we can’t say your sister is chubby in the future?”

Ziyi proudly raised his eyebrows, “My sister isn’t chubby at all. When she grows up, she’ll become more and more beautiful.”

“What if your sister grows up and isn’t beautiful?”

An Lin teased Ziyi on purpose.

Ziyi widened his eyes, “How could that be? Aunt An and Uncle Qin are both so good-looking, my sister will only be even more beautiful than you.”

“Alright, I believe Ziyi. Then you better work hard to earn money, so you can support your sister when the time comes.”

“I can already support my sister now. If Aunt An doesn’t believe me, she can ask my mom. I have lots of money.”

Qingqing started babbling again, speaking in a child-like language they couldn’t understand, as if she was saying she believed Ziyi.

City B.

Luo Rongbin and Wu Jingfang arrived at City B’s airport at half past ten at night.

Because they had a layover, it took more time than a direct flight would have.

Luo Haofeng didn’t go to the airport himself; he only sent a driver and two bodyguards to pick up Luo Rongbin and Wu Jingfang. He wasn’t in the mood to see anyone.

Wu Jingfang stayed close to Luo Rongbin the entire way since Luo Rongbin didn’t show her any kindness, making her afraid to act out.

Seeing that the people who came to pick them up were the driver and two bodyguards, a trace of doubt flashed across her face.

When she met the cold eyes of the two bodyguards, her heart skipped a beat.

A bad feeling surged in her heart.

Luo Rongbin glanced at her indifferently and said, “Let’s go!”

With that, he stepped outside, asking the bodyguard following him, “Where is Ah Feng?”

The bodyguard answered respectfully, “President Luo is at home.”

Once in the car, Luo Rongbin took the newspaper from the back seat, scanned through it quickly, and tossed it to Wu Jingfang beside him.

Upon seeing the news on the newspaper, Wu Jingfang’s face turned pale.

Her hand holding the newspaper trembled slightly. She looked at Luo Rongbin pleadingly, who ignored her, turning his gaze coldly toward the window.

This was something he had already known yesterday, and seeing the news in today’s paper didn’t surprise him.

It was Wu Jingfang who, despite Luo Rongbin telling her about their son’s decision to sever their mother-son relationship, held onto a glimmer of hope. She had tolerated his threats before.

Thinking that Luo Haofeng was just too angry and would be fine once he calmed down.

“Rongbin, I know I was wrong. Could you talk to Ah Feng and ask him to give me another chance?”

Wu Jingfang didn’t want to admit her mistake, or perhaps she didn’t think she was wrong.

But given the situation, she had no choice but to compromise.

If an apology could mend the relationship between Luo Rongbin and Luo Haofeng, Wu Jingfang was willing to apologize. As for everything else, she’d deal with it later.

Unfortunately, Luo Rongbin was indifferent to her apology and merely snorted coldly, “You brought this upon yourself.”

Her hand holding the newspaper trembled further, panic filling her heart.

She wanted to say something, but Luo Rongbin had already closed his eyes to rest. Wu Jingfang opened her mouth but ultimately said nothing.

Throughout the drive, Luo Rongbin kept his eyes shut, whether he was genuinely resting or simply avoiding Wu Jingfang.

Wu Jingfang kept pondering how to explain things to her son once they were home.

She could never agree to severing ties with Haofeng, nor could she lose Luo Rongbin. She couldn’t bear having nothing.

As the car approached the villa, Wu Jingfang’s heartbeat became even more erratic.

The villa’s lights were on, but it remained solitary and desolate.

Upon entering the living room, a strong smell of alcohol assaulted their senses. Luo Haofeng in a shirt and trousers sat on the sofa, the cool light casting on his stern and weary features, making him look indescribably despondent.

His long, narrow eyes filled with romance and mockery, he merely glanced at them before retracting his gaze and tilting his head back to down another glass of wine.

Luo Rongbin’s expression shifted, worriedly stepping forward, “Ah Feng, why are you drinking so much?”

Following him, Wu Jingfang’s eyes flashed with heartache, her brows furrowed tightly, lips trembling, yet she dared not speak.

Luo Haofeng laughed coldly, “If I don’t drink, what else can I do?”

Luo Rongbin said in pain, “If you don’t go and explain things clearly to Bai Xiaoxiao, try to win her back, are you planning to just drink yourself to death?”

“I would wish to drink myself to death.”

Luo Haofeng’s laugh was miserable, mocking. His gaze bypassed Luo Rongbin, looking at Wu Jingfang standing behind him, the emotions in his eyes suddenly replaced by coldness.

Wu Jingfang’s eyes shrank, she instinctively called out, “Ah Feng.”

“Don’t call me that. From now on, I’m no longer your son.” Luo Haofeng stood up abruptly, staring sharply at Wu Jingfang, his eyes devoid of any familial affection, filled only with anger, pain, mockery, and other complex emotions.

Wu Jingfang’s face went pale, remorsefully saying, “Ah Feng, I’m sorry! I know I was wrong, please give mom another chance.”

“Chance? I’ve given you many chances.”

Luo Haofeng laughed coldly, “I’ve repeatedly told you, I love Xiaoxiao, I can’t be without her. Previously, I even told you, whatever extent you’re willing to go for love, I am too.”

With each word, his tone grew increasingly severe.

And Wu Jingfang’s face paled further.

Luo Rongbin stood aside unable to find a place to intervene, he simply watched Luo Haofeng with concern, although he resented Wu Jingfang, he was very fond of Luo Haofeng.

Luo Haofeng walked out from in front of the sofa, step by step approaching Wu Jingfang, this woman who bore and raised him, a woman he had been filial to for over thirty years.

If only he had known earlier that no matter how hard he tried, it would lead to this result.

Then he’d rather be labeled unfilial early on than give her the chance to harm Xiaoxiao like this.

Whenever he thought of the despair and pain in Xiaoxiao’s eyes, and her self-loathing, his heart ached to the point where he couldn’t breathe.

“I truly wish I were an orphan rather than your son.”

He spoke each word through clenched teeth.

Wu Jingfang’s body trembled violently, instinctively retreating a step, this kind of son frightened her more than when he threatened her before. If she dared to hurt Xiaoxiao, she would lose him as a son.

Suddenly her eyes reddened, her hands trembling as she reached out, wanting to touch Luo Haofeng, trembling as she called, “Ah Feng, I was just confused for the moment, I didn’t do it on purpose.”

However, her hand hadn’t yet touched Luo Haofeng’s arm before he ruthlessly pushed it away, her body retreating another step, nearly falling to the ground.

Luo Haofeng looked at her coldly and sharply, every word devoid of compassion, “I will never believe your words again. From now on, we have no relationship whatsoever.”
