Chapter 1955: Chapter 1954: Letting Go
At the hospital, Qin Mu, Wen Jin, and Gu Kai waited in the hallway’s seating area for a few minutes, but still hadn’t seen Luo Haofeng return.
Qin Mu couldn’t help but let out a smile, “Maybe Ah Feng was kicked out by President Bai and won’t be coming to the hospital tonight.”
Hearing this, Wen Jin’s lips twitched, “Ah Mu, is it really okay for you to curse Ah Feng like that just to save some money?”
Gu Kai smiled without saying a word; after all, he had already won.
“I’m not cursing anyone; I’m just stating the facts.” Qin Mu shook his head in denial. Is he the type of person who puts money above everything?
“I think Ah Feng will definitely come to the hospital tonight. If he doesn’t get the chance to be close to Xiaoxiao and reconcile with her now, he probably won’t have much hope left in this lifetime.”
Wen Jin spoke calmly as if discussing something less than critical to Luo Haofeng’s life and future happiness.
As the three of them were talking, the door to the ward opened, and Bai Yiyi and An Lin came out.
Gu Kai raised an eyebrow, “Yiyi is out. I’m going home now. Ah Mu, Ah Jin, are you heading back too?”
“Going back, if you all leave, what am I staying here for?”
Wen Jin said indifferently. They were there to accompany their wives to the hospital, and he was just joining the fun.
“Have Ranran and Mo Xiuchen left?”
An Lin asked, looking around curiously, not seeing Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen.
Qin Mu nodded and said gently, “Xiuchen felt sorry for Ranran and took her home. If you have nothing else to do, we can go home too.”
“Ah Mu and Anlin, when are you moving into your new house?”
Gu Kai suddenly remembered something and asked, his eyes glinting with a soft smile as he looked at Qin Mu and An Ning.
An Lin blinked and frowned, “When Ah Feng and Xiaoxiao were getting married, we planned to move to a new house with them. Then they broke up, and it got postponed.”
“Since you’ve waited a few months, why not wait a bit longer? Anyway, moving to the suburbs won’t be too welcome now.”
Wen Jin replied with a smile.
“Why wouldn’t it be welcome?”
Bai Yiyi asked in confusion. Everyone living together sounded great, and she was really looking forward to An Lin’s family moving to the suburbs.
If so, there would be more fun raising children together.
Wen Jin’s lips curled into an inscrutable smile, “I think Xiuchen probably wouldn’t want you to move too early.”
Gu Kai laughed immediately, agreeing, “I agree with Ah Jin. Before your daughter Qingqing learns to walk steadily, Xiuchen would probably wish for you to wait a bit longer, a bit longer before moving.”
He deliberately repeated “a bit longer” to emphasize Mo Xiuchen’s meaning.
Qin Mu and An Lin exchanged a glance. He stepped forward and wrapped her waist, “In that case, we’ll wait for Ah Feng and Xiaoxiao.”
“You can watch and see; I don’t mind, but once moved to the suburbs, I fear Qingqing will be taken by Ziyi.”
“Who else is in the ward with Xiaoxiao?”
Gu Kai softly asked Bai Yiyi.
Bai Yiyi smiled and said, “Just Aunt Qiao is in the ward. Luo Haofeng came to see Xiaoxiao earlier but was called away by Uncle Bai. I don’t know if he’ll come back.”
Gu Kai smiled nonchalantly, “Whether he comes back or not, it’s late. Let’s go home first.”
In the ward, the small baby had been taken to the nursery, leaving only Qiao Xiuyun with Bai Xiaoxiao.
“Xiaoxiao, if you’re tired, you should rest for a while.”
Qiao Xiuyun gently brushed aside a strand of hair that had fallen on Bai Xiaoxiao’s cheek, speaking softly.
Bai Xiaoxiao shook her head, speaking with emotion, “Mom, only today have I truly realized how hard it was for you to give birth to me and raise me all these years.”
Qiao Xiuyun’s heart warmed; being understood by her daughter always felt comforting.
“Silly girl.”
She laughed and scolded, her eyes filled with endless affection, “Luo Haofeng was with you in the delivery room for several hours today. I’ve never asked, but how did you end up with him?”
When Luo Haofeng was mentioned, Bai Xiaoxiao’s gaze flickered.
A hint of inquiry crossed Mother Bai’s eyes as she hesitantly asked, “Was it because of Luo Haofeng that you…”
“Mom, no, it wasn’t. It had nothing to do with Luo Haofeng. I was accidentally bumped by a few little kids, and before that, I had met Xiao Yuting. It was Xiao Yuting who called Luo Haofeng. By the time he arrived, I was already in pain, so he brought me to the hospital.”
“I see.”
Mother Bai sighed softly, “Xiaoxiao, although Luo Haofeng stayed with you for several hours, he now has a girlfriend.”
“I know. I won’t be the third wheel.”
Bai Xiaoxiao’s voice was soft, her eyes lowering as a trace of sadness flashed through them, “The only reason I agreed to let him accompany me for a few hours was because he’s my daughter’s father, and this was the first time he stayed with her like this, and it could be the last.”
“Xiaoxiao.”
Mother Bai called out to her remorsefully.
Bai Xiaoxiao lifted her eyes and forced a light smile, speaking gently, “Mom, don’t worry, I’m not sad. On the contrary, I won’t be as pained and conflicted as I was in recent months.”
Mother Bai looked at Bai Xiaoxiao in surprise, “Xiaoxiao, do you mean?”
“Mom, I’ve let go. I won’t trouble myself with those things anymore. This is also why I let Luo Haofeng stay with me in the delivery room. I just wanted to tell him that it’s over between us, all the grudges included.”
He can safely be with Qiao Siyi, without any guilt.
Mother Bai finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Whether or not Xiaoxiao and Luo Haofeng would be together again, letting go of the past meant she wouldn’t suffer in the future.
“Since you’ve let go, then you and Luo Haofeng…”
“Mom, don’t overthink. It’s over between Luo Haofeng and me.”
“But I feel like he still cares about you. I heard his leg injury hasn’t fully healed, yet he endured the pain to stay with you for hours in the delivery room.”
“I’m very grateful to him.”
Just as Bai Xiaoxiao’s words fell, they heard Luo Haofeng and Mr. Bai’s voices from the corridor, and then the door to the ward was pushed open.
“Xiaoxiao, are you hungry? Would you like to eat something?”
Mr. Bai, who entered first, asked with concern. Luo Haofeng followed behind, still limping.
From the moment he entered, his long, romantic eyes locked onto Bai Xiaoxiao, filled with gentle warmth.
“Dad, I just ate not long ago, so I’m not hungry.”
Mr. Bai smiled, “If that’s the case, then eat later when you get hungry. Where’s my precious granddaughter?”
“She’s been taken to the nursery.”
Qiao Xiuyun answered with a smile, and Mr. Bai immediately said, “I haven’t really gotten to see my granddaughter properly yet. Xiuyun, accompany me to the nursery. I want to hold my precious granddaughter again.”
