Chapter 1957: Chapter 1956: He Matters More Than Grievances
“Are you hungry now? Do you want to eat something?”
Luo Haofeng saw Bai Xiaoxiao say that such stomachaches are normal, so he didn’t insist on calling a doctor and sat down at the edge of the bed, holding her hand again.
Enjoying their time alone together.
The atmosphere in the hospital room gradually became a bit warm and cozy.
Bai Xiaoxiao gently shook her head, “I’m not hungry.”
She looked down at Luo Haofeng’s leg, “You’ve been standing for hours, is your leg okay?”
“Xiaoxiao, with your care, my leg is fine.” Luo Haofeng’s lips curved into a warm smile, feeling a heartful warmth from Xiaoxiao’s concern.
“Let Gu Kai check it for you, or get an X-ray to see.”
Bai Xiaoxiao hadn’t overlooked how Luo Haofeng walked with a limp.
Luo Haofeng gently explained, “Don’t worry, they already grabbed me to get an X-ray earlier. It’s really okay, just needs proper rest and it’ll be fine.”
Hearing he had an X-ray, Bai Xiaoxiao frowned with worry, “Then you should quickly go rest, don’t stay here.”
Luo Haofeng smiled slightly, took her hand to his face, softly caressing, and said in a gentle voice amid Bai Xiaoxiao’s slightly stiff expression, “Xiaoxiao, I’m staying with you tonight, not going anywhere.”
“There’s no need, there are nurses here, and a maternity nurse will come later, plus my mom is also in the hospital.”
“I want to accompany you personally.”
His voice was low and hoarse, and in Bai Xiaoxiao’s ears, it made her heart skip a beat.
“I gave Xiao Yuting a day, tomorrow I’ll call Qiao Siyi. Xiaoxiao, I’ve been waiting for you to let go of the past. I’m so happy now that you finally don’t hate me anymore, so I won’t be apart from you again.”
Bai Xiaoxiao felt a bit sore in her nose, her heart like an overturned spice rack.
Her faintly drooping eyes slightly lifted, meeting Luo Haofeng’s affectionate gaze.
Her heart couldn’t help but tremble.
After a long silence, she eventually asked stiffly, “But will Qiao Siyi agree?”
Bai Xiaoxiao didn’t want Luo Haofeng to hurt Qiao Siyi because of her.
Luo Haofeng nodded, his tone gentle yet firm, “Don’t worry.”
Meanwhile, in a City B hospital room.
Qiao Siyi had the special nursing assistant leave the room, lying alone on the bed, quietly staring at the ceiling.
Reflecting on these past days, Luo Haofeng’s care and attention.
Unnoticed, tears slipped from her eyes.
She knew that Luo Haofeng must now be with Bai Xiaoxiao, and she didn’t know if Bai Xiaoxiao had safely given birth to the baby.
The words of Xiao Yuting echoed in her ear again, “Do you want to face a man who doesn’t love you for a lifetime?”
She tightly gripped the blanket, struggling to control her emotions.
Of course she didn’t want that.
No woman wants her boyfriend or future husband to love another woman.
But she couldn’t change the fact that Luo Haofeng loved Bai Xiaoxiao; she couldn’t remove Bai Xiaoxiao from Luo Haofeng’s heart.
Maybe tonight, or tomorrow, Luo Haofeng would call her to break up.
Thinking of this, Qiao Siyi felt heartache to the point of suffocation.
She tightly pressed her lips together; if the happiness she imagined couldn’t last till the end, she didn’t want to be the one abandoned.
She also didn’t want Luo Haofeng to end up hating her.
She certainly didn’t want to live a lifetime like Luo Haofeng’s mother, so miserable, only to be resentful by the man she loved in the end.
Raising her hand to wipe away tears, she took out her phone and dialed Bai Xiaoxiao’s number.
After Mother Bai returned the phone to Bai Xiaoxiao, she put it in the drawer next to the bed. The ringtone blared, and Luo Haofeng released her hand to open the drawer and hand her the phone.
Seeing the caller ID, Luo Haofeng frowned.
Bai Xiaoxiao looked at his slightly furrowed brow with surprise, “Who’s calling?”
Luo Haofeng’s expression stiffened slightly, “Xiaoxiao, it’s a call from Qiao Siyi. Should I answer it?”
He was afraid Qiao Siyi might say something hurtful to Bai Xiaoxiao.
Bai Xiaoxiao’s eyes flashed with a hint of surprise, and she said calmly, “No need, I’ll answer it myself.”
“Xiaoxiao?”
Luo Haofeng looked at her reassuringly.
“Go get me something to eat, I feel a bit hungry now.”
Bai Xiaoxiao spoke up, knowing full well it was an excuse to send him away. Luo Haofeng couldn’t refuse and responded gently, “Okay, what do you want to eat? I’ll get it for you.”
“I don’t really have a craving for anything specific now, just anything I can eat for now will do.”
Luo Haofeng didn’t stay longer, got up, and left the hospital room.
The phone continued to ring until Luo Haofeng left the room and closed the door; Bai Xiaoxiao finally pressed the answer button, speaking warmly, “Hello.”
“Miss Bai, this is Qiao Siyi.”
“Miss Qiao, hello.”
Bai Xiaoxiao greeted her politely, not proactively asking the purpose of her call.
Qiao Siyi said over the phone, “When I called Haofeng tonight, Doctor Gu said he was with you in the delivery room for childbirth. I didn’t call him again fearing to affect you. Hearing Miss Bai’s voice now, looks like the baby has safely been born. Congratulations, Miss Bai.”
Bai Xiaoxiao pondered the meaning behind Qiao Siyi’s words.
Seemingly gentle and calm tone, unintentional yet enough to let her understand the questioning why Luo Haofeng accompanied her amid their breakup.
And the way Qiao Siyi addressed Luo Haofeng hinted she was saying she is Luo Haofeng’s current girlfriend.
Bai Xiaoxiao recalled what Luo Haofeng said just now and explained lightly, “In the afternoon, I met with Xiao Yuting. It was Xiao Yuting who told Luo Haofeng where I was, so he happened upon me with a stomachache.”
“Miss Bai, I have a question, I don’t know if you can answer honestly?”
Qiao Siyi over the phone paused for a moment.
“Please ask.”
Bai Xiaoxiao’s tone was calm, with no trace of emotional fluctuation.
“Does having Luo Haofeng accompany you to the delivery room mean you’ve forgiven him and want to win him back?”
Bai Xiaoxiao didn’t hide it, answering candidly, “I have indeed let go of the past, maybe because him being with you made me realize the pain of loss. But he accompanied me in the delivery room for several hours because the situation was special, and my daughter is also his daughter; I have no right to deprive him of his rights as a father.”
Upon saying this, Bai Xiaoxiao paused for a second, “If Miss Qiao is willing to let me and Haofeng be, I would be very grateful. It was me who couldn’t move on, realizing when it was too late that he means more than those past grievances.”
“Is he not by your side now?”
“No, I haven’t said any of this to him yet.”
This sentence of Bai Xiaoxiao’s made Qiao Siyi feel slightly better in her sad and unwilling heart.
At least, Bai Xiaoxiao still respected her.
