Chapter 1983: 1982: None But Her
Because only Wen Jin was alone.
The task of sending Jing Xiaocha home naturally fell on Wen Jin.
Wen Ran worriedly instructed, “Brother, you must safely send Xiaocha home. Don’t leave her halfway.”
Back then, Jing Xiaocha left the country in a rush to be an exchange student.
Wen Ran’s intuition told her that Jing Xiaocha going abroad might have something to do with her brother.
After today’s lunch, Wen Ran was even more certain that there must be something between Jing Xiaocha and her brother, Wen Jin.
That’s why they’ve become so distant, like two newly acquainted strangers.
This was not their usual way of interacting.
Standing next to Wen Ran, Mo Xiuchen smiled warmly and said, “Ranran, are you still worried about Ah Jin? It’s safest to entrust Xiaocha to him.”
“If Brother Wen is busy, I can actually take a cab home myself.”
“Do you have a lot of money?”
Wen Jin’s indifferent question suddenly made the atmosphere tense, and Jing Xiaocha’s face turned slightly pale.
“Let’s go.”
Wen Jin glanced at her, turned around, and walked out of the private room.
Jing Xiaocha saw Wen Jin leaving the private room and hastily bid farewell to everyone before chasing after him.
Wen Ran was still looking perplexedly toward the direction of the private room door when An Lin’s voice gently sounded beside her, “Ranran, is Ah Jin in a bad mood today?”
Bai Yiyi laughed, “Ah Jin and Xiaocha’s way of interacting has always been like this. He’s always been strict with Xiaocha.”
Because Wen Jin left first, everyone else in the room hadn’t left yet.
Hearing Bai Yiyi and An Lin’s words, Bai Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but laugh and teased, “Brother Wen regrets not managing Ranran well back then, and now he’s strict with Xiaocha like a sister.”
“What do you mean by not managing me well, Xiaoxiao, you shouldn’t say that.”
Wen Ran immediately protested discontentedly. Her brother was always gentle and elegant; he was only strict with Xiaocha. She blinked, comforting herself, thinking it might not be a bad thing.
Mo Xiuchen saw her little thoughts and smiled indulgently, “Ah Jin has left, let’s go too.”
An Lin stood up with a smile, “I’ll go ask if Qingqing wants to go home with us.”
Hearing her words, Wen Ran burst out laughing, “You don’t need to ask. Qingqing is now part of our family and definitely won’t want to go home with you.”
Bai Yiyi and Bai Xiaoxiao also teased while laughing, “An Lin, you and Qin Mu should hurry up and have another child.”
In the past few months, Qingqing has been living with the Mo family and has grown more accustomed to it and happier than living at her own home.
The person Qingqing sticks to the most every day is, of course, her brother Ziyi. Whether she opens her eyes in the morning or before going to sleep at night, Ziyi is the one she’s looking for.
Wen Ran noticed that ever since Qingqing moved into their home, Ziyi has matured a lot. He used to cling to her, constantly competing with their father for their mother’s attention.
But ever since Qingqing started living at home, Ziyi’s focus has been on taking care of Qingqing. His attentive care for her is in no way inferior to that of An Lin and Qin Mu as parents.
An Lin put on a pretend regretful face, “If I had known, I wouldn’t have sent Qingqing to your home back then.”
“It doesn’t matter, even if Qingqing grows up at their home, it won’t change the fact that she’s our daughter.”
Qingqing just doesn’t want to go home, that’s all. Her feelings toward An Lin and Qin Mu haven’t faded.

Meanwhile, Wen Jin and Jing Xiaocha walked out of the Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion one after the other.
Wen Jin told Jing Xiaocha to wait by the road while he went to get the car.
Jing Xiaocha nodded and waited by the roadside.
After a few minutes and still no sign of Wen Jin’s car, she turned her head to look toward the parking lot to see if something had delayed him.
“Xiaocha.”
Jing Xiaocha was looking toward the parking lot when a delighted voice suddenly sounded beside her.
She turned around in surprise and saw Jin Zheyu getting out of a business car, looking at her with delight.
“Xiaocha, so you’re here. If I had known earlier, I would have come over right away.”
Jing Xiaocha furrowed her brow slightly. Faced with Jin Zheyu’s joy and eagerness, she felt a bit of a headache and countered, “Classmate Jin, why are you here?”
“My sister insisted on coming here.”
Jin Zheyu’s eyes flashed with a trace of impatience when mentioning his sister, but it was quickly masked by his radiant smile.
Seeing Jing Xiaocha here made Jin Zheyu feel that the trip was worthwhile.
“Are you waiting for a car? Just take mine. I’ll give you a ride.”
Saying this, Jin Zheyu reached out to take Xiaocha’s hand.
Jing Xiaocha instinctively took a step back, avoiding Jin Zheyu’s hand. A trace of surprise flashed across his face, as if he hadn’t expected her to dodge.
“Oh, Zheyu, is this the girlfriend you mentioned?”
A woman’s voice came from behind, with a hint of ridicule and a touch of mockery.
The woman glanced at Jing Xiaocha with a disdainful and contemptuous look on her exquisitely made-up pretty face.
Jing Xiaocha subtly raised her eyes to look at the owner of the voice. The woman was wearing an eye-catching red dress, carrying a limited-edition handbag, and her ten-inch high heels highlighted her slender and sexy figure… She was the epitome of fashion and beauty from head to toe.
She appeared noble and arrogant like a queen.
Her eyes bore some resemblance to Jin Zheyu’s.
Seeing Jing Xiaocha glance at Jin Fengjiao, Jin Zheyu immediately introduced with a smile, “Xiaocha, this is my sister, Jin Fengjiao.”
“Sister, this is Xiaocha.”
Jing Xiaocha noticed the disdain in Jin Fengjiao’s eyes and gave a faint smile out of courtesy, greeting, “Hello, Miss Jin.”
Jin Fengjiao snorted arrogantly. She had seen many girls from poor backgrounds who aimed to marry into wealth like Jing Xiaocha appeared to be doing.
In her view, Jing Xiaocha was just playing hard to get with her brother Jin Zheyu.
“So you’re the one who’s captivated my brother. I heard he’s been pursuing you for years. When do you plan to accept his courtship?”
Thanks to her ten-inch heels, Jin Fengjiao stood half a head taller than Jing Xiaocha. When she spoke, she looked down at Jing Xiaocha like a queen.
“Sister, stop talking nonsense.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Jin Zheyu’s expression changed.
Jin Fengjiao sneered disdainfully, “Nonsense? Aren’t you head over heels for her, refusing to eat or drink, and insisting on marrying her? No matter how many suitable ladies mom and dad introduce, you won’t even spare them a glance, just for this plain girl?”
“Sister, didn’t you have something to do? You should go.”
Jin Zheyu’s face darkened, and his tone carried a hint of irritation.
He knew his sister had always been sharp-tongued. He didn’t care how she talked about other women, but he wouldn’t tolerate her talking like that about the girl he liked.
A car horn sounded from behind, and then, as the car window rolled down, Wen Jin’s cool, slightly aloof handsome face caught everyone’s attention.
