Chapter 2125 - 2124: Anyone Who Competes with Me Will Have a Problem
Chapter 2125: Chapter 2124: Anyone Who Competes with Me Will Have a Problem
Wen Jin originally didn’t plan to go downstairs to see Ou Yihan.
But as he reached the elevator, his phone rang; it was a call from Ou Yihan’s father.
Wen Jin then had no choice but to go downstairs to Ou Yihan’s ward.
After staying there for half an hour and noticing it was still early, he headed to Gu Kai’s office.
Gu Kai was reading medical records. When he saw Wen Jin come in, he greeted him, told him to pour himself some water, and then buried his head back in the records.
"Why aren’t you in the ward with either Yihan or Xiaocha? What brings you here?"
A few minutes later, Gu Kai came out from behind his desk, holding a thermal cup, and sat on the sofa, teasing with a smile.
Wen Jin held his cup, sipping water elegantly.
Upon hearing Gu Kai’s words, he merely glanced at him indifferently without answering.
Gu Kai squinted his long eyes, a hint of sharpness and curiosity seeping into his gaze toward Wen Jin, "Ah Jin, could it be that you don’t know if you like Yihan or Xiaocha, and that’s why you’re torn about whom to accompany?"
"Your imagination is really vivid; it’s a pity you became a doctor."
Wen Jin replied coolly.
Gu Kai took it as a compliment, proudly raising an eyebrow and smiling, "Don’t look down on this profession, especially surgeons."
"Yihan has her parents and friends with her, and Xiaocha, because of her arm injury, can’t type and is practicing voice typing. So I thought I’d come chat with you."
"Chat with me?"
Gu Kai’s smile broadened, "So, you’re waiting for Xiaocha?"
Wen Jin neither confirmed nor denied it.
Although he and Gu Kai weren’t brothers, since Ranran reunited with the Gu Family, he and Gu Kai had become as close as brothers.
Their relationship had always been good, even though Gu Kai had a sharp tongue and loved gossip, he still knew his limits.
"For now, don’t tell Uncle Gu."
Wen Jin’s response indirectly acknowledged that he liked Jing Xiaocha and was waiting for her.
Gu Kai’s interest was piqued, "Why not let my dad know, Ah Jin? Are you worried my dad will be angry? You’re overthinking it. Even though Yihan was introduced to you by my dad, he’s not old-fashioned if you two part on good terms."
"Before Yihan’s injury heals, my relationship with her remains unchanged."
Wen Jin lowered his gaze, and when he looked at Gu Kai again, his handsome features were calm.
"What do you mean?"
"Exactly what I said."
Wen Jin didn’t want to elaborate further.
He didn’t believe that someone as smart as Gu Kai wouldn’t understand what he meant.
Ou Yihan had asked him to agree to one condition: they would break up after she recovered and was discharged.
So until then, she was still his girlfriend.
Wen Jin had no objections to this; he already felt apologetic to Ou Yihan as her injury was because of him, so he should care for her during this time.
And he and Xiaocha could have decades together.
Thinking about this brought a hint of warmth to his dark eyes, reflecting in the bright lights, making him appear kinder.
"And Xiaocha, does she know?"
Gu Kai asked a different question.
"She doesn’t."
"Ah Jin, why don’t you share such good news with Xiaocha sooner instead of leaving her in suspense?"
"If you’re truly too free, you could find a girlfriend for Zinan or a childhood friend as excellent as Ziyi for Tongtong."
"What a joke, Tongtong is five years old; what boyfriend? She’s my precious apple of the eye. I’ll be furious with anyone who tries to take her from me."
At the mention of his daughter, Gu Kai became even more enthusiastic.
"That’s just a matter of time; by then, being mad won’t help. Look how open-minded Ah Mu is."
"Ah Mu is probably worried his daughter won’t find someone to marry in the future. My Tongtong is smart and cute, surely she’ll be an excellent angel in white when she grows up. By then, any man who wants to pursue her will have to get past me first."
Gu Kai had already thought it through; when Tongtong grows up to find a boyfriend, he would strictly screen them; anyone who couldn’t meet the requirements wouldn’t stand a chance.
Then, Wen Jin listened to Gu Kai list out a bunch of future standards for picking a son-in-law until it was time for his agreed meeting with Jing Xiaocha after an hour.
He just smiled, put down his cup, stood up, and said to Gu Kai, "Ah Kai, don’t add more conditions; I reckon Tongtong will accompany you for a lifetime; maybe you should discuss with her if she’s willing... Haha... I’m off now."
"When you have a daughter, you’ll be like me."
Gu Kai was not satisfied when Wen Jin left before he finished speaking.
Wen Jin smiled without confirming either way, turned around, and left the office.
Behind him, Gu Kai was still saying something...
The floor where Jing Xiaocha stayed was very quiet, especially at night, even more so.
Walking along the corridor, his footsteps were very light, yet clearly audible.
He stopped at the door to the ward; inside, Jing Xiaocha must have heard his footsteps, as the sound stopped simultaneously.
Two seconds later, he raised his hand to open the door, looking inside to see Jing Xiaocha lifting her head to look at the door.
Their eyes met in mid-air; Wen Jin smiled, and the corners of Jing Xiaocha’s fair and delicate face lit up with a bright smile, "Brother Wen, you’re so punctual."
"Of course, I said I’d be back in an hour."
Wen Ran’s eyes and brows held a smile, his tone warm.
As soon as he entered, the cold and silence in the ward were immediately dispelled, and the air was tinged with a trace of warmth.
Jing Xiaocha had been in one position for too long. Only after Wen Jin moved the laptop did she realize one leg was numb. As soon as she moved, she couldn’t help but hiss.
"What’s wrong, is the wound hurting?"
Wen Jin’s handsome brows furrowed, the warmth in his brow replaced by concerned worry, his dark eyes scanning nervously over her arm and neck.
"Is it the arm wound that hurts, or the wound in your neck?"
As he spoke, Wen Jin was already regretful, realizing he had agreed to let her work too soon.
Seeing his anxious expression, Jing Xiaocha’s heart warmed, and she shook her head at an angle, "Brother Wen, it’s not the wound that hurts; my left leg is numb."
"Your leg is numb?"
Wen Jin breathed a sigh of relief, placing the laptop on the small table beside him. His distinct hand reached toward her left leg.
As soon as he touched it, Jing Xiaocha immediately let out an "ah."
When he pinched the numb leg, the sensation was indescribably intense.
Wen Jin heard her exclamation and instinctively let go.
He looked up at her with a pained expression, then supported her shoulder, letting the weight of her body rest in his arms, "Just sit like this for a while, and when it stops being numb, then lie down again."
Jing Xiaocha’s body tensed slightly.
When Wen Jin pulled her into his arms, her heart skipped a beat, and a complex emotion flashed in her eyes as she looked at him.
Unlike others, Wen Jin held her and his gaze landed on her injured right arm. Even though the wound was covered by the sleeve and unseen, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of pity.
"Have you not taken a break for a whole hour?"
