Chapter 2130: Chapter 2129: Threat
In the morning, after receiving her IV drip, Jing Xiaocha logged into the website’s backend on her phone to check the scheduled chapters.
Without her laptop, she couldn’t write the script, but she could use her phone to work on the serialized novel in the backend.
However, typing on the phone was incredibly slow.
Compared to using a laptop, it was a world of difference.
The most crucial part was that Jing Xiaocha could only use her left hand; her injured right arm couldn’t move at all. She got out of bed and sat in a chair.
She placed the phone on the small table and wrote word by word with her left hand.
The special nursing assistant came in and saw Jing Xiaocha sitting in the chair, head down, not sure of what she was doing, and quickly walked over, “Miss Jing, why are you up?”
Jing Xiaocha locked her phone screen, looked up at her, and smiled slightly, “I was too tired of lying in bed, so I came down to sit.”
The special nursing assistant cast a suspicious glance at her locked phone, now black-screened, not knowing what she had been doing, but still gently reminded her, “Miss Jing, President Wen said you shouldn’t be playing on your phone and should rest in bed.”
“I know; I was just taking a quick look. You go ahead and do your work, I’ll call you if I need anything.”
Jing Xiaocha waved her hand, signaling that she didn’t need the assistant to stay.
The assistant felt a bit troubled, “Miss Jing, President Wen specifically instructed me to take good care of you as he left this morning.”
Jing Xiaocha gave a polite smile, “I want to rest alone for a bit. If you stand here, I won’t be able to rest well. You can go out first; I’ll definitely call you if I need anything.”
“Well… alright then.”
After the assistant left, Jing Xiaocha continued typing word by word with her left hand.
A few minutes later, she couldn’t stand the snail’s pace anymore and used the voice input like last night on her laptop with the voice software.
She said a sentence, which turned out not bad.
There was only one typo. Although last night she felt voice input was unbearably slow, now, after experiencing the snail’s pace of typing with her left hand, she suddenly found voice input actually quite fast.
Truly, without comparison, there’s no delight.
By the end of the day, Jing Xiaocha had surprisingly written three thousand words on her phone.
Never having tried writing on a phone before, she felt particularly accomplished.
Seeing that it was already five o’clock, Jing Xiaocha plugged her phone in to charge and obediently lay down in bed to rest.
Just as she lay in bed, the phone rang. It was a call from Wen Jin, “Xiaocha, I have an engagement tonight that I can’t skip, so I might be late to the hospital. Aunt Chen will bring you dinner shortly. After dinner, you can start writing with voice input. I’ll come over tonight to fix any typos for you.”
“Brother Wen, feel free to attend your engagement, don’t worry about me. I can handle it myself.” Jing Xiaocha’s voice was cheerful.
“You’re so happy because I can’t come?”
Wen Jin questioned over the phone, his tone tinged with displeasure.
Realizing she’d let her emotions show, Jing Xiaocha quickly reigned in her smile and feigned disappointment, “Brother Wen, I’m not really that happy. I just don’t want to disrupt your work. Near year-end, you must be busy with work and social engagements, so there’s no need to worry about me.”
“How about I let Ranran come keep you company first? I heard you were on your phone a lot today. Were you writing your novel on your phone?”
“Who told you I was on the phone a lot?”
Jing Xiaocha asked in surprise.
She silently cursed the assistant for being nosy.
“Do you think I wouldn’t know what you’re up to just because I’m not at the hospital?”
Wen Jin asked calmly.
.Jing Xiaocha chuckled, “Brother Wen, I didn’t mean that. I wasn’t really on my phone that much, I just took a quick look.”
“Starting tomorrow, you’re not allowed to play on your phone anymore, or I’ll have to confiscate it.”
Wen Jin’s voice sounded gentle but every word carried a threat.
Jing Xiaocha frowned but didn’t dare to retort, “I understand.”
Wen Jin didn’t call Wen Ran because Jing Xiaocha needed to work that night, and he feared having someone accompany her would disrupt her.
He just asked Aunt Chen to bring her the laptop, instructing that she shouldn’t work too long.
Jing Xiaocha was genuinely pleased that Wen Jin had an engagement tonight, as she was writing an interaction scene between the male and female leads.
Although last night’s chapter also had interactions between the leads, it also involved supporting characters.
Tonight was different; it was a private moment between the leads, filled with ambiguous and passionate tension.
As a girl who had never been in a relationship, Jing Xiaocha thought most about Wen Jin when writing such scenes.
Images that just popped into her mind involuntarily.
Especially when she imagined herself as the heroine, she’d inevitably picture Wen Jin as the male lead, which is why the heroine had traces of her own experience.
She even wished Wen Jin had engagements every day and no time to supervise her work.
At least for these few days, he shouldn’t come supervise her work, nor should he proofread her errors.
That would be too awkward.
Leaning against the headboard, reciting a chapter via voice input, Jing Xiaocha rested for ten minutes, then sprawled back on the bed to continue.
Tonight’s speed was a bit faster than last night’s, which she was quite satisfied with.
The typos were still frequent, seemingly due to the voice software’s poor recognition ability. She reconfigured some commonly used words.
Checking the time, she began to proofread for typos.
Initially, she thought Wen Jin would arrive at the hospital after nine, but unexpectedly, his engagement wrapped up quickly, and he arrived at the hospital by eight.
Jing Xiaocha hadn’t even finished proofreading a chapter’s worth of typos when she heard the sound of the hospital room door opening, and her heart inexplicably skipped a beat.
Without looking up to see who it was, she instinctively knew it was Wen Jin.
Sure enough, what met her gaze was Wen Jin’s handsome face, his features sharp and elegant, his expression gentle, and his voice smooth and soft, “You’ve been working until now?”
Not hearing any sign of anger in his voice, Jing Xiaocha smiled, propping herself up with her left arm to sit up on the bed.
“Brother Wen, how come you’re so early?”
Wen Jin’s eyes narrowed slightly as he strode over to the hospital bed, his gaze sweeping over the laptop placed on her bed as he looked down at her from a height.
“You still complain I’m early. I told you to work only an hour a day. How long have you worked today?”
“…Brother Wen, my inspiration was flowing too well today. I couldn’t stop and worked an extra half hour… Really, only half an hour.”
She said, holding up her finger to show.
Wen Jin gave her a sidelong glance and bent to take the laptop.
Jing Xiaocha’s eyes shifted, and she immediately reached out to hold down the laptop, “Brother Wen, you drank tonight, you’re probably dizzy, so don’t help me proofread the typos. I’ll do it myself. You sit there and rest a bit.”
Wen Jin hadn’t had much to drink, only two glasses.
However, as they spoke, a faint scent of alcohol lingered, which Jing Xiaocha used as an excuse to prevent him from proofreading her typos.
Wen Jin’s gaze lingered on her hand pressing down on the laptop, his thin lips pursed slightly as he observed her, silently.
