Chapter 2462 - 266
Chapter 2462: Chapter 266
Momo lifted the coffee to her lips.
Mo Xin watched nervously from across the table, "Momo, don’t drink it, there’s something in it."
She frowned, whispering a reminder.
In her heart, she hoped Momo would hurry and drink it.
She suspected that Momo might have taken an antidote before coming here.
But Ji Anyun had told her this drug...
Momo glanced at Mo Xin with a slight lift of her eyelids; she didn’t believe Mo Xin actually cared about her.
Mo Xin understood her, just as she understood Mo Xin.
Though she hid it well, Momo still caught the fleeting glint in her eyes.
She smiled faintly, "Is there no antidote for this drug?"
"Yes."
Mo Xin hesitated for a moment, then nodded softly.
A voice in her mind said, if you want to drink, just drink it.
Momo put down the coffee and took a mirror out of her bag, looking at herself for a few moments.
The two men across the room were intently watching her.
Waiting for her to drink the coffee.
She lifted the coffee to her lips again, but somehow, her hand slipped.
She let out a small cry.
The cup fell onto the table, spilling coffee across the surface, dripping off the edge.
The two men, separated by two tables, stood up with a slight change in their expressions.
Their eyes filled with suspicion as they looked at Momo.
Opposite, a flicker of disappointment crossed Mo Xin’s face.
"Let me order you another cup."
She glanced at the two men, then waved a distant waiter over.
Momo frowned slightly at the spilled coffee in front of her and the liquid on her clothes.
Suddenly, she lost interest.
She picked up her bag and stood up, speaking with indifference, "If you’re finished talking, I’ll leave now."
"Momo."
Mo Xin’s voice emerged anxiously.
Her gaze complex as she looked at Momo.
"Anything else?"
Momo didn’t look back at the two men but could feel their eyes fixed on her.
She guessed silently that, having not consumed the drug, they wouldn’t let her go.
It was rare for her to be alone.
And given their presence today, it must have been prearranged.
"Let’s leave together."
Mo Xin glanced behind her at the men.
She bent down, grabbing her bag, quickly took out her purse, and paid.
Momo raised an eyebrow.
"Fine."
Mo Xin appeared nervous as she paid.
Momo watched her complete the transaction before turning to leave.
The two men, separated by two tables, stood up as they saw them walk by.
The two also paid and left their seats.
Momo’s fingers tightened around the strap of her bag.
As they approached the exit, the two men followed behind them.
Just as they stepped out of the café, one of the men suddenly reached out from behind Momo with a cloth.
Covering her mouth and nose with one hand, while the other hand grabbed her.
Instinctively, Momo tried to dodge, but out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of a car door opening at the roadside, a man stepping out.
She let out a muffled cry.
Unable to evade.
A pungent smell hit her; her head spun, and before Mo Ziye could reach her, she already blacked out.
——
When Momo slowly woke, she found herself lying on a hospital bed.
Her head still felt a little dizzy.
Opening her eyes, she saw Wen Ran and Jing Xiaocha by her bedside.
They both wore expressions of deep concern.
Momo smiled faintly and softly called to them, "Mom, Aunt Xiaocha."
"You’re awake. How are you feeling? Is there anywhere uncomfortable?"
Wen Ran, seeing her awake, didn’t relax her tense brow, asked nervously and with concern.
Jing Xiaocha, too, looked at Momo with concern, "Yes, you were unconscious all afternoon, do you still feel unwell?"
Momo smiled and shook her head, propping herself up.
Wen Ran didn’t stop her but reached out to support her, while Jing Xiaocha placed a pillow behind her back.
Being cared for by her elders, Momo felt a warm rush in her heart, and her delicate face lit up with an even brighter smile.
"Mom, Aunt Xiaocha, don’t worry. I’m feeling great now. Except for a slight dizziness, nothing’s wrong. What about Ziye? Did he catch those two men?"
"He caught them, you don’t need to worry about the rest."
Wen Ran’s expression turned serious, she reproached, "Why didn’t you dodge at the time; don’t play with your safety. Who knows what drug they used, weren’t you afraid at all?"
"Mom, I was a bit distracted, and it was too late to dodge."
Momo pouted playfully.
She was telling the truth.
Her momentary distraction upon seeing Mo Ziye cost her the chance to dodge, and eventually, she was knocked out.
"You were asleep for several hours, even your grandfather got alarmed, they’re all in your uncle’s office now. I’ll call them over."
While speaking, Wen Ran scolded Momo with a glance.
She took out her phone and called Mo Xiuchen.
Momo was eager to know what happened after she lost consciousness.
But neither Wen Ran nor Jing Xiaocha mentioned a word.
She pursed her lips and waited quietly as Wen Ran made the call.
At this moment, Mo Xiuchen and the others were in Gu Kai’s office.
Answering the call, Mo Xiuchen asked immediately, "Ranran, is Momo awake?"
"Yes, she’s awake. Come over."
"Alright, we’re coming right away."
Mo Xiuchen’s lips curled into a relieved smile.
Momo was awake, and everyone would be at ease.
Although Gu Kai had already checked her, stating it was just drug-induced sleep.
Momo’s health had always been the focus of everyone’s concern since childhood.
Ending the call, Mo Xiuchen reached out to help the already standing Gu Yan, speaking warmly, "Dad, Momo’s awake, don’t worry."
"Yes, I’m not worried, let’s go see Momo first."
Gu Yan said he wasn’t worried, but his feet kept moving forward.
