Chapter 2466 - 270
Chapter 2466: Chapter 270
In the hospital room filled with the smell of disinfectant, the air froze for a brief moment.
As Old Master Ye’s expression shifted ever so slightly, Momo’s heartbeat slowed, and from somewhere deep in her chest, an emotion rose—slow, irresistible—spreading into her heart.
In her watery eyes, worry slowly condensed within that emotion.
Old Master Ye remained silent.
Facing Momo’s clear, water-like gaze, the words he wanted to say stuck in his throat and, for a time, could not come out.
The eyes that had been clouded from injury went through a storm of change, and then, at Momo’s soft, low voice—"Grandpa, no matter what kind of news it is, I can take it."
His apology lingered in the quiet ward. "Little Momo, I’m sorry, I know it’s wrong to do this."
Momo’s heart suddenly sank.
The small hand resting on the edge of the bed abruptly clenched the white sheet.
She pressed her lips together, forcing down the emotions surging like a tide in her chest.
Her eyes fixed on Old Master Ye, and in a gentle voice, she spoke with firm resolve, "Grandpa, please say it."
"Ah Zhan was injured, and his whereabouts are still unknown."
It felt as if a sharp knife had been driven hard into her chest. Momo’s delicate little face turned deathly pale in a flash.
Her body, crouched by the bed, swayed slightly.
"Grandpa, when did this happen? Ye Zhan was injured, what about Tang Jinchen?"
"Jinchen was injured as well, Little Momo... *cough*..."
"Grandpa, don’t say any more, I understand."
Momo hurriedly stood and gently soothed Old Master Ye’s breathing.
Tears shimmered in her eyes, sorrow and grief hidden in their depths, yet between her fine brows and eyes there was only strength and resolve.
"Little Momo, I’m not trying to force you."
If there were any other way, Old Master Ye would never be willing to let Momo take such a risk.
Especially since she was the girl his grandson liked.
And he believed that as long as Ah Zhan was alive, there was still hope for everything.
If Ah Zhan was gone...
"Grandpa, how do I contact him?"
Momo tilted her head back to glance at the ceiling and asked softly.
From beginning to end, Momo had not blamed or resented Old Master Ye for saying these things to her, and there wasn’t the slightest trace of disrespect in her tone.
"Little Momo, are you truly willing? Have you thought about how dangerous this is... *cough*..."
After saying so much, and with his emotions stirred, Old Master Ye started coughing violently again.
Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.
Momo dared not let him go on.
She called out once, "Grandpa."
Then immediately pressed the call button by the bed.
Outside the door, Ye Zhangming and Chu Junming, who had not gone far, heard Momo’s voice and instantly pushed the door open.
Old Master Ye slipped into a coma and was wheeled into the operating room.
Gu Kai had no time to say anything extra to Momo and followed into the operating room as well.
Outside the operating room, Momo’s slender figure appeared even more thin and fragile.
Looking at her moist eyes and the sorrow that could not be hidden in her brows, Chu Junming felt his own heart tighten.
His thin lips pressed together; after a moment’s hesitation, he spoke. "Sister-in-law."
"Momo, I’ve already sent people to look for Ah Zhan. Don’t let Grandpa’s words..."
Momo’s tears finally spilled beyond her control.
Crystal clear, they slid down her pale cheeks.
That sorrow spread outward in an instant, to all directions, making everyone’s hearts clench with pain.
"He won’t die."
Her brows and eyes suddenly turned cold, as if covered with a layer of frost. That expression made Feng Yize start in surprise.
For a brief instant.
Feng Yize actually felt that Momo, when she was angry, looked a bit like his eldest brother.
Chu Junming shot Feng Yize a sideways glance.
He shut his mouth, not daring to say anything else that would sadden Momo.
Momo had already made up her mind. "Ye Zhan being injured this time is not like usual."
At this, she pressed her lips together again; the tip of her tongue tasted the salty tears, with a faint bitterness underneath.
She spoke calmly. "Even if he can’t come back alive, I will still bring him back."
When the Mo family in distant G City learned that Momo was going to use herself to exchange for Ye Zhan, they were all stunned.
Water overflowed from the cup and scalded Wen Ran’s hand before she realized it and let out a muffled sound.
Beside her, Mo Xiuchen’s expression shifted slightly as he snatched the cup from her hand and set it aside, asking with concern, "Ranran, how did you burn your hand? Go rinse it with cold water."
"Mo Xiuchen, don’t worry about my hand. Momo is just a girl, how can she possibly save Ye Zhan? You can’t just watch her walk into the tiger’s den like a sheep..."
Wen Ran was anxious about her daughter’s safety and couldn’t care less about her own hand.
"Dad, please take care of Mom’s burn first. Leave Sister to me."
