Chapter 2576 - 380: The Marriage Certificate
Chapter 2576: Chapter 380: The Marriage Certificate
The news that Ye Zhan and Momo were going to get their marriage certificate somehow got leaked.
When they arrived at the civil affairs bureau, they saw Tang Jinchen and Gu Zhitong standing at the entrance, fingers interlocked.
"Sister Tongtong, why are you here?"
Momo’s eyes showed surprise, and a bright smile appeared on her delicate face.
Gu Zhitong smiled at her, raised her hand that was intertwined with Tang Jinchen’s, and said in an elongated tone, "Isn’t it obvious? If we weren’t here to get our certificate, would we come here to cheer you on?"
Momo’s mouth twitched hard.
Beside her, Ye Zhan glanced at Tang Jinchen, then ignored them, directly telling Momo, "Momo, let’s go in."
So much for having a quiet moment alone to get their certificate.
Ye Zhan felt quite annoyed.
Tang Jinchen, this guy, of all the times to get his certificate, had to come join the fun now.
Behind them, Tang Jinchen and Gu Zhitong exchanged a smile and followed the pair into the civil affairs bureau.
The process of getting the certificate wasn’t complicated, and since it was late at night, with no other couples there, Ye Zhan and Momo quickly got their little red booklet.
Looking at their names and the official stamp on it, Momo felt a bit surreal.
She stared blankly at the marriage certificate until it was snatched away by Gu Zhitong’s reaching hand.
Only then did Momo look up to see Gu Zhitong admiring her red booklet, "Momo, your photo with Ye Zhan is beautiful! A perfect match, truly made for each other."
"Hurry and go take your photo, Tang Jinchen is waiting for you."
Momo snatched back her red booklet, not having had a clear look at it earlier.
Gu Zhitong walked away as she was told, and Ye Zhan’s voice, low and gentle, sounded beside her ear, "Momo, you’re so beautiful."
"It’s not like it’s an artistic photo," Momo laughed teasingly.
Ye Zhan leaned down to peck her cheek and said, "Even if it’s not an artistic photo, you’re still beautiful. I’ve never seen a woman more beautiful than you."
"Should I also praise you?"
"Sure, go ahead, I’m listening." Ye Zhan curbed his smile, looking overly serious.
Momo glanced at Tang Jinchen and Gu Zhitong taking photos not far away and hooked her finger at Ye Zhan, signaling him to come closer.
With a smile on his lips, Ye Zhan obediently leaned down.
Momo hooked an arm around him, her breath brushing against him as she said softly, "Hubby, even if you become ugly in the future, I’ll still love you the same."
The soft and tender way she called him "Hubby" made him feel completely smitten.
"Wifey, let’s go home."
Ye Zhan resisted the urge to kiss Momo, took the red booklet from her hand, put it in his pocket, and pulled her to leave.
Momo glanced toward Gu Zhitong and Tang Jinchen.
Without resisting, she smiled and let Ye Zhan lead her out of the civil affairs bureau and into the car.
As the door closed, the sound of the car door opening quickly followed.
Momo was pulled forward with a force that made her lose balance, and the handsome features of the man before her came into close view, his warm breath brushing against her...
She smiled as she sweetly accepted him.
Until he was satisfied and let her go, she gazed into his eyes with a smile softening her own.
"Momo."
Ye Zhan softly called her name, his voice tender.
Momo softly replied, "Mm."
"You must always be so good."
Good to stay by his side, good to let him tease her.
Momo smiled,
"I’ll call my parents and tell them we got our certificate."
"Alright, you dial, and I’ll speak." Ye Zhan’s voice was still hoarse, but there was an extra touch of tenderness in his gaze.
His long arm circled around her shoulders, pulling her possessively into his embrace.
Momo saw him looking at her phone, and without minding, she dialed her mother Wen Ran’s number.
She recalled telling her mom at noon that she was moving in with Ye Zhan, and now they had gotten their certificate in the evening; it seemed a bit impulsive.
She looked up at Ye Zhan, who was gazing gently at her, and their eyes met, causing her heart to inexplicably skip a beat.
Sweetness spread through her heart, and she realized that it wasn’t impulsive — she loved this man so much that she couldn’t bear to part with him. It was only right to be together like this.
The phone rang twice before being answered, with Wen Ran’s warm, smiling voice coming through, "Momo."
"Mom, it’s me."
The phone was indeed taken by Ye Zhan.
Momo blinked, just watching him with a smile.
Ye Zhan turned on the speaker and said to Wen Ran on the other end, "Mom, I have good news for you. Momo and I just got our marriage certificate."
"You got your certificate so soon?"
As soon as Ye Zhan finished speaking, it wasn’t Wen Ran’s voice from the phone, but Mo Xiuchen’s, with a bit of hesitation and surprise.
And a subtle, indescribable emotion, as if he wasn’t quite happy.
Ye Zhan wasn’t too sure, glanced at Momo who was looking at him, and his smile deepened, his voice low and joyful, "Dad, Momo and I are still outside the civil affairs bureau. We just got our marriage certificate. Jinchen and Tongtong are still inside handling their paperwork. We’ll be back soon."
"Did Momo take her household registration book?"
Mo Xiuchen felt a bit uneasy.
The beloved daughter he cherished was someone else’s wife now, and from now on, Ye Zhan would be the closest person to Momo, and he and Ranran would have to step aside.
Ye Zhan chuckled, "Dad, Momo and I decided to get the certificate on a whim, so we didn’t go back to get the household registration books."
They say money can do anything, and for someone with Ye Zhan’s status, it made things even easier.
"How did it happen so fast? You just got back and you’re already getting a certificate? How did you trick Momo?" Mo Xiuchen seemed genuinely displeased.
His tone became noticeably emotional toward the end.
Ye Zhan wasn’t foolish; he could hear it.
He tightened his hold on Momo, a charming smile on his lips, "Dad, Momo agreed willingly."
"Dad, we’ll come back and show you and Mom our marriage certificate later." Momo couldn’t listen to Ye Zhan and her father chat any longer and interrupted them.
Mo Xiuchen, hearing her voice and the happiness in her tone, felt a bit of his displeasure subside, yet at the same time deepen.
Suddenly, a sense of loss enveloped him, "Alright, talk to you when you get back."
"Okay, I’ll hang up now, Dad."
After Momo said this, she truly ended the call.
"Momo, why did you hang up so quickly? Jinchen and Tongtong aren’t out yet."
"If I didn’t, you’d just keep upsetting my dad, wouldn’t you? Didn’t you sense he wasn’t too happy?" Momo’s voice was soft, with a hint of emotion as she said this.
Ye Zhan lowered his head to kiss her forehead, stroked her hair affectionately with his large hand, "Dad’s not unhappy; he’s just feeling a bit off-balance. Momo, when we get home, you tell Dad that I’m the best man in the world and that you married me willingly. That will put Dad at ease."
"..."
Momo looked at Ye Zhan with a doubtful expression.
Are you sure?
A sly smile appeared in Ye Zhan’s eyes, "As long as you’re happy, Dad will naturally be happy too."
