Chapter 2599: Chapter 403: Your Hands Are Meant for Painting
If during lunch at the restaurant, Feng Yize calmly dealt with Feng Jinze and Feng Haoze, leaving Qinghuan shocked,
then, in the afternoon when Feng Yize "happily" sent the reporters away, genuinely protecting her from disturbance, he once again redefined Qinghuan’s perception of him.
Sitting in the car, she still found it hard to believe.
In Qinghuan’s impression, reporters never pass up on news stories.
But those reporters just now were really sent away by Feng Yize.
"Feng Yize, you were amazing just now."
Qinghuan looked at Feng Yize with undisguised surprise in her eyes.
She felt she had to get to know him anew.
The eyes that shone like water were fixed on him; this was different from the beggar-like Feng Yize she first met, different from his cheeky smile these days, different from his warmth and care.
Yet it seemed somehow the same.
Qinghuan felt a bit bewildered.
"Qinghuan, the way you’re looking at me makes it seem like you don’t know me."
Feng Yize laughed, his voice clear and cheerful.
With a teasing tone.
Wen Qinghuan’s eyes arched into a smile, "I don’t know you anymore, it seems like the Feng Yize I knew before is different from the one now."
"How is he different?"
Feng Yize pointed to the seatbelt for her, and Qinghuan lowered her head to fasten it.
He also fastened his seatbelt, waiting for Qinghuan to be ready before starting the engine, reversing, and setting off.
Qinghuan thought for a moment, then said confusedly, "I’m not sure, it just feels different. I used to think you weren’t very serious, but today at lunch, you easily made those two who tried to frame you confess themselves..."
"Qinghuan, did you think I was very cunning today at lunch?"
The car started moving, and Feng Yize turned to look at Qinghuan sitting in the passenger seat.
Qinghuan shook her head, a smile blooming between her delicate eyebrows, "Of course not. Feng Haoze and Feng Jinze are the real petty villains. If it weren’t for your cleverness, the restaurant’s reputation would have been ruined by them."
"Qinghuan, thank you."
Feng Yize suddenly expressed his gratitude.
Both grateful and touched.
In his twenty-plus years of life, aside from his sworn brothers Ye Zhan, Tang Jinchen, Chu Junming, and his mother, he had no other relatives.
He had female friends, but he had never felt attracted to any of them, let alone liked them as he did Qinghuan.
Don’t let his usual carefree manner fool you, nor the rumors of him being a playboy.
That’s just the surface.
He is actually pure and sincere.
"Thank me for what? I’m just speaking the truth." Qinghuan looked at him with bright eyes, like stars.
"How’s that waiter doing, is he seriously injured?"
"Not too seriously. He’ll be fine after some rest."
Feng Yize’s eyes held a faint chill, "What Feng Jinze and Feng Haoze owe him, I’ll make them pay."
"Are you... will the Feng Family make things difficult for you?"
Qinghuan asked, showing her concern.
No matter how capable he was, he had just joined the company not long ago.
Being cared for made Feng Yize’s heart warm, his mood bright, "No, they don’t have that ability."
In the past, being bullied was mostly because he wasn’t strong enough.
Now, he wouldn’t be polite to them anymore.
Although the journey wasn’t far, and despite their slow speed while talking, they soon arrived home.
Feng Yize carried the bags, while Qinghuan opened the door.
He stood behind her, looking at her smooth hair, slender figure, the unique scent of a girl lingering near his nose.
He couldn’t help but smile.
Such a feeling, it’s really nice.
Once inside, Feng Yize brought the groceries to the kitchen and handed the other bag to Qinghuan. She placed some snacks on the coffee table and took another bag upstairs.
When she came back downstairs, Feng Yize had already removed his suit jacket, rolled up the sleeves of his white shirt, and was facing away from her, washing vegetables.
Hearing her footsteps, Feng Yize turned around and gave her a bright smile, "Qinghuan, why don’t you go watch some TV, I’ll cook dinner."
Qinghuan came over to his side, looking at the vegetables he had prepared.
She slightly furrowed her brows, "Why did you take out so many things from the fridge? Did you put everything I bought in?"
Feng Yize laughed slyly, his long eyes sparkling with mischief.
"It’s your first time in the Imperial City, I have to be a proper host."
Qinghuan looked at his smile and found it hard to reconcile this version of him with the one at lunch.
"You shouldn’t do this."
She deliberately put on a stern face, opened the fridge, and took out two items she had bought, then put some of the ingredients he took out back in.
"Now, it’s fair."
Four dishes would have been a bit much.
But she picked two which she liked and two which he liked.
Looking at it separately, it wasn’t too much.
"Qinghuan, who’s going to cook the ingredients you took out?"
"I am."
Qinghuan’s smile was bright.
The warm light made her delicate features even more beautiful and captivating.
Feng Yize shifted his gaze from her face and looked down at her hands.
Qinghuan blinked.
"Why are you frowning, don’t you trust me?"
"Qinghuan, your hands are meant for drawing."
Feng Yize’s voice was soft.
But the determination and fondness in his tone were strong.
Before Qinghuan could react, the man’s strong hands grasped her shoulders, gently pushing her out of the kitchen.
His clear and pleasant voice rang in her ears, "Qinghuan, give me an hour, you can watch TV, play on your phone, chat, do whatever you like."
"Hey..."
Qinghuan pouted, watching the kitchen door close behind her.
——
An hour later, the kitchen door opened.
The aroma of the dishes wafted over as Feng Yize emerged, entering Qinghuan’s breath.
She immediately got up to help.
This time, Feng Yize didn’t stop her.
A few minutes later, Qinghuan sat at the table, leaning forward, looking at the delicious dishes on the table with appreciation.
Without holding back, she praised, "Feng Yize, you’re amazing."
Feng Yize smiled and served Qinghuan some food, "Don’t praise me just yet, try the taste first."
"That makes sense."
Qinghuan nodded.
Her eyes curved into a smile as she watched him put the food into her bowl, then she picked it up and took a bite.
"It’s delicious."
"Then eat more."
Feng Yize was confident in his cooking skills.
Though he rarely cooked.
Seeing him about to serve her more food, Qinghuan quickly stopped him, "Don’t waste time serving me, I have hands, you should eat too."
"Okay."
Afterwards, Feng Yize really didn’t serve Qinghuan any more food.
Both of them ate earnestly, only occasionally exchanging a few words.
Yet the atmosphere was very warm.
Until they were full and put down their chopsticks, Qinghuan wiped her mouth and then asked Feng Yize, "Is Aunt still in the hospital?"
"No, she went home after the check-up."
"Oh."
Qinghuan’s eyes twinkled, lightly biting her lip, she smiled and said, "Since Aunt is not well, you should spend more time with her. After dinner, you should hurry back, I’ll do the dishes."
"Washing a few dishes doesn’t take much time."
Feng Yize said casually, "My mom likes quiet, she doesn’t like me making noise around her."
