Chapter 899: Help me wash it cleaner.
Chapter 899: Help me wash it cleaner.
Wen Ran’s eyes drooped slightly, and she gently pressed her lips together. After a moment, she lifted her gaze to look at Mo Zixuan, whose face was filled with guilt, “You don’t need to apologize to me.”
“Ranran, I…”
“You’d better go buy something for Zhou Lin to eat. That’s more practical.” Mo Xiuchen interrupted Mo Zixuan, pulling Ranran along as they left.
Outside the hospital, Qing Feng, Qing Yang, and Little Liu were waiting in the parking lot. Mo Xiuchen had previously told Qing Feng and Qing Yang to go do something else, but it was just a lie to deceive Bai Xiaoxiao.
Mo Xiuchen told them to go home as well; Bai Xiaoxiao had Luo Haofeng to take her.
By the time they returned home, it was already past nine o’clock. Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen had dinner and then went upstairs to rest. Because of Tiantian, Wen Ran hadn’t rested well on the plane. She had barely managed to suppress a yawn during dinner.
As soon as they went upstairs, Mo Xiuchen tenderly offered, “Ranran, you go find your pajamas, I’ll draw a bath for you.”
“You rest, I can do it myself.” Wen Ran’s voice, though soft, carried a hint of firmness. He was the one injured, yet he still wanted to do this and that for her—as if he had no awareness of being a patient.
Mo Xiuchen’s eyes twinkled, and seeing Wen Ran’s coolness, he smiled warmly, “Alright, Ranran, you go bathe first. After you’re done, I’ll bathe.”
Wen Ran’s eyes swept over his injured arm, her brows furrowing slightly in silence before she turned and entered the walk-in closet to find clothes.
Mo Xiuchen sat on the sofa, poured himself a glass of water, and turned on the television, idly flipping through channels, occasionally taking a sip of water. His handsome face was tinged with a soft tenderness as his eyes glanced occasionally towards the direction of the bathroom.
Thinking of the woman he deeply loved in the bathroom, warmth bubbled in his heart. During the month Ranran was abroad, besides being busy with company matters, he had an unexpected discovery.
It was the third day after Ranran had left the country when he turned on the computer in his study and found the diary he had written before. It was written after he had drawn the virus from Wen Ran’s body into his own and started having complications.
Although he had no memory, as Mo Xiuchen read everything about him and Ranran, it was as though he was reliving it all once more—the contentment and happiness of being with Ranran, as well as the reluctance and longing when facing separation, were incredibly profound.
These days, fragments of memories occasionally surfaced in his mind, but each time he tried to grasp them or remember more, his mind went blank, and he couldn’t recall anything.
Wen Ran didn’t take long to wash; after about fifteen minutes, the bathroom door opened. She emerged wearing a loose pajama set…
Her damp hair, towelled off, cascaded over her shoulders. The bright crystal light illuminated her cheeks, giving off an enticingly delicate blush.
Her skin was tender and as pure as jade.
Mo Xiuchen stood up, a tender smile curving the corners of his mouth as he walked over and gently took her hand. His deep eyes gazed tenderly at her, “Ranran, let me dry your hair for you. Later, would you help me bathe?”
“Help you bathe?”
Wen Ran looked at him, somewhat taken aback.
Whether startled by his words or the heat of his palm, her hand in his shook slightly.
“How did you bathe before this?”
Wen Ran asked in surprise. He wasn’t just injured today; before she returned, how had he managed to bathe?
Mo Xiuchen smiled gently, his tone mild as he said, “I’ve been wiping myself down. At first, Liu wanted to help me bathe, but I wasn’t comfortable with it, so I just simply wiped my body down every night. Therefore, after so many days, I’m quite dirty. Ranran, you have to help me clean up later.”
Mo Xiuchen was shameless. Such intimate words came out of his mouth as casually as if he were commenting on today’s weather.
Wen Ran had thin skin and, after being apart from him for so long, she found it overwhelming to be so close, face-to-face with him, his crisp and mature masculine scent filling the air between their breaths.
Hearing him say that she should help him bathe, and to make sure to wash him thoroughly, her cheeks immediately blazed with heat.
“Ranran, let me dry your hair first.” Mo Xiuchen saw her timidity and, smiling, his grin took on a hint of seduction, sexy and charming.
Wen Ran wanted to refuse, but she couldn’t find the words to do so.
He was her husband, and for her to bathe him was only proper.
If she refused, Mo Xiuchen would surely be upset. Moreover, she didn’t have the heart to reject him.
As she remained in this conflicted dilemma, she was already pulled by Mo Xiuchen towards the dressing table where, with experience, he plugged in the hairdryer and skillfully lifted her hair.

Kangning Hospital
In the end, Bai Xiaoxiao couldn’t withstand Luo Haofeng’s waiting, and after giving Zhou Lin a few instructions, she left the ward with him.
In the corridor, they ran into Gu Kai, who had just finished performing a surgery and was on his way to see Zhou Lin’s daughter before heading home.
“Ah Feng, Xiaoxiao, are you guys leaving now?”
Gu Kai had changed into his own clothes, ready to check on Zhou Lin’s daughter and then leave.
Luo Haofeng nodded, “Mo Zixuan is in the ward, there’s no need for you to go.”
“Mo Zixuan hasn’t left yet?” Gu Kai asked, a bit surprised. Didn’t Mo Zixuan really dislike Zhou Lin and also refuse to acknowledge his and Zhou Lin’s daughter?
Sensing the sarcasm in his voice, Luo Haofeng smiled, glanced back at the ward behind him, and then said, “This might be the effect of Ranran’s words. Before she left, she said a few things to him.”
Gu Kai’s gaze narrowed slightly, and his handsome brows furrowed, “Are you saying that Mo Zixuan stayed to take care of his daughter because of Ranran’s persuasion?”
“Don’t worry, I tested Mo Zixuan just now, and he really doesn’t dare have any thoughts about Ranran anymore. He’s well aware of his own limits, and if he doesn’t want to die a horrible death, he won’t compete with Mo Xiuchen again.”
Luo Haofeng paused for a moment, then added, “I think Shen Yuting’s gaze when looking at Mo Xiuchen is still filled with affection.”
Bai Xiaoxiao was taken aback and looked up at Luo Haofeng.
Luo Haofeng met the puzzled eyes of Bai Xiaoxiao and asked softly, “Xiaoxiao, why would Shen Yuting call Ranran tonight?”
When he and Mo Zixuan had rushed to the hospital, Shen Yuting had already called Wen Ran.
Bai Xiaoxiao blinked, unsure, and said, “I’m not sure either. At the time, I was taking a call. It seemed like Tiantian was crying, and Zhou Lin, out of pity for her daughter, inadvertently mentioned how Tiantian likes to be held by Ranran. When we were in D Country, there were times Tiantian cried so hard that only Ranran could soothe her.”
“So, Shen Yuting called Ranran because of that?” Luo Haofeng’s handsome brows gently knitted together, wondering whether Shen Yuting was just a compassionate pediatrician, or if she had some ulterior motive for calling Ranran.
Luo Haofeng was sure he hadn’t misread the situation tonight; Shen Yuting’s eyes were filled with love when looking at Mo Xiuchen. Remembering how he had stumbled upon Jiang Liu drowning his sorrows in the bar the night before, Luo Haofeng’s brows tightened further.
