Chapter 1022: How Does It Feel
Chapter 1022: How Does It Feel
The few soldiers from the Jin state hadn’t seen Song Qingshu return with Shuang’er earlier. Later, upon hearing sounds coming from his room, they instinctively assumed that the female lead was the earlier-mentioned Cheng Yaojia.
As they casually gossiped nearby, they unwittingly led Lu Guanying, who was pretending to sleep but was actually eavesdropping, to misunderstand the situation.
Thinking about how his beloved w!fe was currently lying beneath another man, being ravaged, Lu Guanying felt his bones creak with anger. Unfortunately, being imprisoned here meant he could do nothing despite his furious heart.
“That dog official, I will definitely kill you!” Lu Guanying swore silently.
Of course, Song Qingshu had no idea that, through a twist of fate, he had become the rival in love in Lu Guanying’s heart. Even if he had known, he probably wouldn’t have cared. After enjoying a night of Shuang’er’s tenderness, he woke up the next morning feeling incredibly refreshed.
“Shuang’er, you rest well in the room. I have something to do now,” Song Qingshu thought it wouldn’t do to keep Cheng Yaojia and her husband detained any longer. Since it was just dawn, it was the perfect time to let them go.
“Brother Song, I’ll help you wash up,” Shuang’er said, still half-asleep and struggling to get up.
Song Qingshu hurriedly pressed her back down onto the bed. “Alright, Shuang’er, you were exhausted last night, so don’t get up. Just rest well.”
Feeling his thoughtfulness, and with her own b0dy feeling soft and weak, Shuang’er blushed and murmured in agreement.
Song Qingshu quickly got dressed and knocked on Cheng Yaojia’s door next door. “Madam, are you awake?”
“Just a moment,” came Cheng Yaojia’s gentle voice from inside. However, Song Qingshu was taken aback; why did her voice sound so hoarse and fatigued compared to usual after just one night apart?
Cheng Yaojia sat up in bed, lazily stretching and unable to suppress a yawn. The loud noises from next door had left her feeling anxious and unable to sleep. She had planned to wait until they quieted down before sleeping, but who knew she would end up waiting until dawn? Now, having just slept for an hour, she was being called awake by Song Qingshu.
‘After being restless all night, how can you have so much energy getting up this early? Could it be that the Jin barbarians are indeed like the rumors say, wild beasts from the grasslands?’ Cheng Yaojia lifted the covers to get out of bed, only to find her clothes damp and slippery, instantly flushing her cheeks with embarrassment. She hadn’t expected to have such a shameful reaction after eavesdropping all night.
After waiting for quite a while outside, the door finally opened from within. Noticing that Cheng Yaojia’s complexion seemed a bit unnatural, Song Qingshu couldn’t help but ask, “Madam, are you feeling unwell? Should I call a doctor to check your pulse?”
“No… no need,” Cheng Yaojia quickly waved her hand, thinking to herself how could she possibly say such a thing.
“Then I’ll go call your husband now,” Song Qingshu said, feeling particularly cheerful after enjoying a night of tenderness, and thus had no intention of making things difficult for the couple.
“Thank you, my lord,” Cheng Yaojia felt delighted in her heart, placing her hands over her abdomen and performing a deep bow to him.
Song Qingshu smiled and then instructed his subordinates to bring Lu Guanying over.
“Little brother, you really are beaming with springtime joy today,” at that moment, Suo Etu happened to come by, and upon seeing his expression, couldn’t help but tease him with a smirk.
Song Qingshu welcomed him with a smile, “You flatter me, Brother Suo.”
“Yin and yang coming together is the ultimate principle of heaven and earth; there’s nothing to laugh about. However, I’m not as fortunate as you. The little beauty I brought back last night quietly escaped in the evening,” Suo Etu said with a look of regret. He had come over mainly regarding Shuang’er’s matter.
Suo Etu had planned to let Shuang’er go last night, but to his surprise, he found her missing. He guessed that Shuang’er had left on her own and didn’t take it to heart. However, he still needed to inform Song Qingshu about this in advance; otherwise, it would be hard to explain if someone asked, especially since Shuang’er had assassinated a government official in plain sight.
Song Qingshu was momentarily taken aback but quickly guessed his thoughts. Since Suo Etu was lying through his teeth with his eyes wide open, he might as well play along. After casually comforting him a few times, the two soon found themselves chatting happily. Glancing at the beautiful Cheng Yaojia beside them, Suo Etu subtly nudged Song Qingshu with his elbow, a mischievous grin on his face as he winked, “So, what do you think?”
Song Qingshu was confused, “What do you mean?” Suo Etu raised his eyebrows and chuckled, “Of course, I mean how was it last night?”
“Soft, smooth, and tender; I can’t help but wish I could play with it every day,” Song Qingshu couldn’t help but exclaim.
His words made both women outside and inside the room blush deeply. Inside, Shuang’er, hearing that Suo Etu had arrived, hurriedly got out of bed and hid behind the door. She just happened to hear Song Qingshu’s remark, feeling both sweet and shy in her heart.
Outside, Cheng Yaojia thought Song Qingshu was talking about her, her face turning redder, mostly out of embarrassment and anger. She wanted to explain but was worried it would ruin Song Qingshu’s big plans, leaving her feeling conflicted.
At that moment, Lu Guanying was brought over by the guards and happened to hear this statement, nearly fainting from anger. He immediately shouted, “You dog official, I will kill you!”
Unfortunately, he was firmly held back by the guards beside him and couldn’t move an inch.
“Husband, don’t misunderstand, it’s not what you think,” Cheng Yaojia rushed over to explain, but suddenly she heard Song Qingshu’s voice in her mind: “If you want to save your husband’s life, you should keep your mouth shut from now on!”
Cheng Yaojia was taken aback, unsure whether to step forward or stay back. It was then that Suo Etu came back to his senses and pointed at Lu Guanying, asking, “Who is this?”
Song Qingshu smiled and said, “He is this young lady’s husband. Last night, he recklessly stormed into the government office to save his wife.”
In his statement, he downplayed the situation, emphasizing Lu Guanying’s act of saving his wife while deliberately omitting the fact that he was an envoy of the Southern Song Dynasty.
Cheng Yaojia couldn’t help but feel grateful; if Suo Etu knew their true identities, it would be troublesome.
Who would have thought that Lu Guanying, in a fit of rage, would no longer care about the details and shouted, “You scoundrel, no need for your fake sympathy. When the day comes that Li Kexiu…”
Hearing her husband about to reveal their identities, Cheng Yaojia was so frightened that her face lost color. She hurriedly scolded, “Husband!”
Fortunately, Song Qingshu reacted quickly, flicking his fingers from his sleeve to secretly seal Lu Guanying’s mute acupoint, preventing him from continuing.
Suo Etu was left puzzled, looking at him and asking, “Why did he suddenly stop talking?”
Song Qingshu chuckled, “Maybe he found out I had fun with his wife and got so angry he couldn’t speak.”
Cheng Yaojia was both angry and anxious, just about to say something when she heard Song Qingshu’s voice again: “Madam, please understand, I’m saying this to deceive Suo Etu, making it easier to release you later. You can explain the misunderstanding to your husband when you get back.”
Cheng Yaojia bit her lip; for her husband’s safety, she ultimately nodded, thinking that she and Husband had always respected each other over the years, and she could clarify things with him afterward. They just needed to get through this immediate crisis.
Last night, Lu Guanying had still held onto a glimmer of hope after hearing the soldiers’ gossip, but seeing his wife blushing and tacitly acknowledging the matter now left him feeling like a withered husk, utterly despondent. (G: poor guy.)
