From Bullets To Billions

Chapter 763: The Fallen Rose

Chapter 763: The Fallen Rose

The arrival of the Fallen Rose had changed the entire direction of the battle.

Until then, Max had practically been fighting alone while a large crowd of rowdy gang members, hired thugs, and escaped prisoners surrounded him. They had been eager to overwhelm him with their numbers, believing that there was little he could do against so many attackers.

Now, however, they had someone else to fight.

The men were tough and used to violence, but they didn’t understand that the women they were facing were far tougher than any ordinary gang members.

One of the men raised a large bat above his head and swung it down with both hands. A wooden sword met the weapon in mid-air. Rather than trying to stop the bat with brute force, the Fallen Rose member angled her weapon and allowed the bat to skim along its surface, deflecting the attack to the side.

Before the man could recover, she struck him three times in quick succession.

The first blow landed on his wrist, the second struck the side of his body, and the third crashed against his head. The man dropped onto his back, unconscious before he even hit the ground.

It quickly became clear that the Fallen Rose members possessed far more skill than the people they were fighting. If the two sides had equal numbers, it would have taken only a few moments for the women to deal with them all.

Unfortunately, the numbers weren’t even.

The attackers continued rushing towards them, relying on their overwhelming advantage. They were relentless, and no matter how many fell, more stepped forwards to take their places.

There was something else making the battle difficult for the Fallen Rose as well.

"Come on!" Shooting shouted to the others. "This might be the hardest situation we’ve ever had to fight our way out of, but once we’re free from this, we’ll have proven that we’re the strongest out there! No one will be able to match us!"

Shooting dived into the crowd and swung her wooden sword against a man’s wrist, forcing him to release the weapon in his hand. She continued moving from one side to the other, striking the hands and legs of everyone who approached.

She couldn’t completely take out every attacker, but she was injuring them enough that they could no longer hurt the other members of her group.

Shooting needed to pick up the slack wherever she could because the Fallen Rose members were already tired.

The reason they hadn’t been able to help Max immediately was because they had been trapped in another city, fighting against a different group. The Fallen Rose had eventually defeated them, as expected, but the fight had lasted for more than a day.

Their enemies had attacked in waves, forcing the Fallen Rose to remain in the city. Every time it seemed as though they were finally free to leave, another group came after them.

It had made travelling to Max nearly impossible.

After learning about the situation Max was facing, Abby had begun to wonder if the timing had been intentional. It seemed far too convenient that the Fallen Rose had been trapped in another city at the exact moment Max needed their help.

That suspicion had only driven Abby to fight harder.

Eventually, they had managed to eliminate the group blocking their path. Abby had wasted no time after that. She immediately led the Fallen Rose out of the city and followed the instructions Max had given her.

They had agreed to protect him. It was clear that several powerful people were targeting Max, and Abby refused to fail at the task she had been given.

"I think the others can handle the rest of these guys for now!" Sarah shouted as she moved back-to-back with Shooting.

Vera soon appeared beside them, holding her wooden sword firmly in both hands. She looked across the docks, taking in the numerous fights happening around them.

"These people aren’t the ones we need to worry about," Vera said. "It’s obvious that Max wouldn’t have had any trouble dealing with them. There have to be stronger opponents here—the ones who forced him into this situation in the first place."

Sarah and Shooting understood what she meant.

"Find the people who are struggling against them and help out," Vera continued. "I’ll go to Max."

The two women nodded in agreement. They had been in enough battles to know that dividing their attention like this was the right decision.

Vera headed towards Max while Sarah and Shooting remained close to each other. Together, they moved through the crowd like a whirlwind.

Their wooden swords tore through the attackers from one side to the other. Even when several people came at them at once, the two women defended themselves from every angle.

More importantly, they had complete confidence in each other.

Neither of them needed to watch every direction. Sarah knew Shooting would protect one side, while Shooting trusted Sarah to do the same for her. That allowed them to concentrate fully on the enemies in front of them without worrying about being struck from behind.

As they fought through the crowd, both women continued searching for the most dangerous opponents on the battlefield.

It didn’t take them long to find them.

Two injured men were down on their knees, breathing heavily. Their bodies were bruised and battered, but they were still attempting to stand and continue fighting.

Sarah and Shooting moved through the remaining attackers until they reached them.

"I’m going to guess you two are with the Billion Bloodline and are fighting for Max," Sarah said as she stood by their side. "If that’s the case, we’re here for the same reason."

The two injured men were Jett and Darius. Standing across from them were Popper and Dipter, both of whom remained in far better condition.

"This is a little embarrassing, isn’t it?" Jett said as he forced himself back onto his feet. "It looks like we have to rely on reinforcements."

"I told you that Vivan always bets on the right horse," Darius replied as he stood beside him. "I knew something like this would happen."

Darius looked towards Sarah and Shooting, showing no hesitation about accepting their assistance.

"I don’t have enough pride to insist on winning this fight by myself," he continued. "So we’ll definitely accept your help."

Not far away, Max and Dud were still engaged in their own fight.

Dud continued attacking recklessly because he knew his wounds would heal and that he wouldn’t feel any pain from them. The advantage made him far more willing to take damage if it meant landing a blow of his own.

He charged towards Max and swung a kick aimed directly at his head.

Before the strike could reach its target, a wooden sword came down and slammed against Dud’s shin.

A loud cracking sound rang out as the bone broke beneath the force of the blow. Dud’s leg was knocked back towards the ground, throwing him off balance before he could reach Max.

Vera had arrived between them, still holding the wooden sword that had broken Dud’s leg.

"Vera," Max said, recognising her immediately. "It looks like you managed to make it."

"It’s a good thing you were able to hold out for this long," Vera replied as she placed herself beside him.

Her hands tightened around the wooden sword as she looked towards Dud, ready to help Max finish the fight.

"The last thing I would ever want is for what happened to me to happen to you."
