Chapter 1973: Meeting

Chapter 1973: Chapter 1973: Meeting

Shu Yu blinked, looking at Ms. Tao’s exceptionally earnest eyes, and remained silent for a moment.

After a while, she nodded her head, “…Alright, I’ll go with you.”

Ms. Tao immediately brightened up and promptly said, “Okay, then I’ll go find the matchmaker and arrange it.”

Shu Yu knew that her main role was to bolster Ms. Tao’s courage. Since it was related to Meng Han’s marriage, she was quite concerned about it and was willing to make the trip.

Ms. Tao was very proactive and soon arranged a meeting time and place.

Since this meeting wasn’t a very formal engagement ceremony, Uncle Meng didn’t come. It was just an opportunity for Ms. Tao and as Gan Rui’s eldest sister-in-law, Ms. Liao, to get acquainted, so the location was set at the Yuelai Restaurant.

Early in the morning, Ms. Tao dressed up especially grandly and knocked on Shu Yu’s door with an anxious heart.

Afterward, Shu Yu, Ms. Tao, and Meng Han went to the Yuelai Restaurant together.

The timing was just right, as they reached the entrance of the Yuelai Restaurant just as Ms. Liao’s carriage pulled up.

Gan Rui was sitting on the shaft of the carriage. As soon as he saw them, he immediately turned to Ms. Liao and said, “Sister-in-law, it’s Ah Han.”

Ms. Liao lifted her head and saw Shu Yu first, then looked at Ms. Tao and Meng Han beside her. From the three’s attire and ages, she quickly matched their names.

Gan Rui introduced the parties, and Ms. Tao was a bit reserved at first, but upon seeing Shu Yu greeting Ms. Liao very naturally, she immediately straightened her back, suppressed her inner nervousness, and stepped forward to greet her.

Ms. Liao was holding the hand of a little girl, her five-year-old daughter.

The little girl looked curiously at Shu Yu and the others, shyly retreated a little, and hid behind her mother.

Ms. Liao chuckled, “Nini is quite shy, let’s go inside and talk.”

Soon they entered the restaurant, and Ms. Liao had already reserved a spot on the second floor in advance. The staff led them directly to a private room.

Ms. Liao stood on one side, entering the private room last with Gan Rui.

As the door to the private room closed, none of them noticed a woman standing at the door of a diagonally opposite private room. She had been about to step inside but stopped right away when she saw them, squinting to scrutinize the closed door.

Someone in the private room called for her, and she responded but didn’t go in. Instead, she asked the old woman beside her, “Is that Sister-in-law and Xiao Rui? What are they doing here? Who are the women with them?”

The old woman shook her head, unsure.

The woman pondered for a moment, “Go find out.”

“Yes.”

Someone in the private room called for her again, and after taking one last long look at the private room where Shu Yu and the others were, she turned and walked in.

The atmosphere over with Shu Yu was harmonious. Ms. Liao was very generous and perceptive, just as Jiang Fengshou had described, thorough in everything she did.

Ms. Tao was initially unsure of what to say, but it turned out that the topics Ms. Liao brought up were ones she could continue with.

As they went back and forth, the two sides ended up having a very pleasant conversation.

Shu Yu acted like a stabilizer, occasionally interjecting, asking questions she wanted to know, and then sitting quietly again.

Meng Han was a bit nervous at first but later ended up playing with the Nini sitting next to her.

She already liked children, and once Nini warmed up to her, they started whispering secrets to each other.

Gan Rui occasionally answered Ms. Tao’s questions, yet most of the time, he gazed fondly at Meng Han and Nini.
