Gate of Revelation

Chapter 798

Chapter 798

Given how tense the situation was, Roddy did not even have the time to check if Nicole was dead or alive.

Run! Hurry up and run!

“Thank you!”

Roddy only had time to say those two words through the guild channel.

He did not explain further because he knew that his teammates would understand his actions and what they had to do.

“Don’t worry!”

Every one of them was quick to respond through the guild channel.

When they saw Roddy successfully rescue Nicole, everyone from Meteor Rock Guild breathed a sigh of relief.

Bei Tai continued to provide long-ranged suppressive fire. The number of steel ingots around him had fallen by half.

After the chaos from the initial assault, the others had finally gathered up.

Xia Xiaolei and Soo Soo worked together to firmly entangle Gaza’s Magic Mech. Xia Xiaolei took the brunt of the attacks while Soo Soo kept firing her fire-type spells at the Magic Mech.

“The meteorite is with him!”

The 30-second period of absolute defence from Lun Tai’s Guardian Shield was almost over. But seeing Xia Xiaolei taking over the role of entangling Gaza, Lun Tai quickly retreated to instead charge at the nearby Thunderstorm Tank while bellowing out loud.

The fellow piloting the strange mech was clearly a Team Leader for one of Thorned Flower Guild’s teams. As a quest item, the meteorite could not be kept inside a storage gear. Naturally, the Team Leader must be carrying it with him.

Kill him, and snatch away the meteorite!

The Thunderstorm Tank aimed its main turret muzzle at Lun Tai before firing out an arc of light at him. However, the arc of light failed to break through the defensive power of the Realm of Immunity and it disappeared after a brief flicker.

By then, Lun Tai had already arrived before the Thunderstorm Tank.

Positioning the shield before him, Lun Tai smashed into the Thunderstorm Tank’s energy shield. Coincidentally, it was the last remaining second for the Realm of Immunity.

In the face of the absolute defence of the Guardian Shield, the energy shield was instantly cancelled out. In that one second’s worth of opening, Lun Tai threw a pitch-black grenade towards the Thunderstorm Tank.

Gravity Grenade.

If the energy shield was still working, not even ten grenades would be able to break the energy shield. At present, however, the only defence the Thunderstorm Tank had was its metal plates.

A three-metre radius gravitational field promptly appeared above the Thunderstorm Tank’s turret. The field disappeared in a flash, sucking away the entire turret into its central spot, gathering and twisting until it became a metal ball, smaller even than a fist.

The gravitational field disappeared and the metal ball fell upon the tank. Due to the extreme degree of compression of the metal ball, it became like a ball of iron falling into water, easily smashing through the body of the tank.

The tank immediately blew up.

Lun Tai did his best to protect himself with the Guardian Shield, but the active period of the shield’s Realm of Immunity skill had expired. And so, the violent explosion sent him tumbling backwards and he ended up coughing out a mouthful of blood.

In order to avoid accidentally wounding his own teammates, Bei Tai had already changed the shape of his liquid metal left arm. The liquid metal flowed, transforming from a rapid-fire gun to a heavy sniper rifle.

The defensive power of the Magic Mech was clearly not something that ordinary bullet-based weapons could break through, but the defensive power of the protective suits that the other Players were wearing were not as formidable.

A loud sound rang out and a Player deftly avoided being hit on a vital point, but his left arm was hit by the 12.7mm calibre bullet. While the bullet failed to pierce the protective suit, its impact managed to break the bones of the forearm, causing the Player’s hand to hang down limply.

Qiao Qiao enveloped another Player with her black mist form, decomposing him into basic particles. However, a beam of light suddenly struck the black mist, eliciting a swift cry of pain from her while causing her to return to her human form.

Her Child of Darkness skill was a double-edged sword. After dematerializing herself, Qiao Qiao would become immune to all physical attacks. More, she would also become a high damage dealer. At the same time, though, it greatly reduced her resistance to energy-type and spirit-type attacks.

More importantly, in her particle state, her body – vulnerable to those attacks – became much bigger.

On Qimu Xi’s side, by relying on her speed, she kept flitting through the battlefield. Her two blades had already reaped two enemies. That said, she did get hit several times. Her protective suit was already badly damaged and there were a good number of wounds on her body.

Lun Tai had long since activated his Muscle Fruit skill. Muscles swelled up all over his body as he raised a bronze war axe, fighting against another strength-type Player, but he could not end the fight. When he heard Qiao Qiao crying out in pain, he shouted, “Xia Xiaolei, eat!”

“Got it!”

Xia Xiaolei swiftly brought out a sack from his storage gear. His left hand transformed out tens of tentacles, which then wrapped around the sack before devouring it into his body.

The sack had been about half as big as his body, but Xia Xiaolei – after swallowing the sack – showed no significant changes to his body size.

It had contained white sugar.

The higher the degree of genetic adaptation with the host, the more power the Bug Armour could exert in battle. At the same time, though, it also required a greater supply of energy.

Should the battle become too intense, Xia Xiaolei would need to replenish his energy on the spot.

Basic carbohydrates were the most energy-dense food.

After swallowing the white sugar, Xia Xiaolei, who had looked somewhat sluggish, instantly became reinvigorated.

Lun Tai, on the other hand, suddenly changed his fighting style. He had been holding a shield on his left hand and a war axe on his right hand, defending while counter attacking. At that very moment, he suddenly smashed down both his shield and axe at his opponent, ignoring the opponent’s blades coming at him.

His protective suit reduced a portion of the incoming damage. Even so, the opponent’s attack managed to leave a deep slash on his chest. At the same time, his shield managed to smash the enemy’s head. After that, his axe swung to cut the opponent’s waist into two.

“Life Diversion!”

Xia Xiaolei brought out a gem and crushed it.

A ray of light then enveloped his body before radiating outwards, connecting with everyone from Meteor Rock Guild.

During the battle, everyone had more or less sustained some level of injuries. But the moment the gem was crushed, all their wounds disappeared simultaneously.

The Life Diversion Gem was a one-time consumable. By crushing it after specifying the targets in advance, the user may choose to distribute the damage taken equally or pile up all the damage upon one person.

Given the current makeup of Meteor Rock Guild, it was more advantageous for them to choose the latter.

Xia Xiaolei’s entire body trembled and several deep wounds swiftly appeared on his body. But in the blink of an eye, countless bits of flesh grew to mend the wounds.

What the hell? Just where did this team come from?

Seeing Roddy save Nicole and not Tian Lie, Gaza had quickly felt somewhat at ease.

Even so, this team’s combat power had still shocked him.

Every single one of them possessed a very strong combat power. The ability of their skills to complement one another was very high. Moreover, they also appeared very well-trained in the way they cooperated with one another.

This was just like… a resident guild from Zero City.

The elites of the guild!

However, Thorned Flower Guild possessed detailed information about Zero City. There wasn’t a single elite from the resident guilds of Zero City that Gaza did not know. But the enemies that appeared this time, none of their skills and appearances matched the intel he had.

Just… where did they come from?

The little girl. Although she looked to be only around 10 years old, the fire-type spells that she casted had terrifying power. Despite the Magic Mech’s formidable defence, Gaza dared not casually take on the spells.

As for the other fellow, Gaza had immediately recognized that he was using the Bug Armour.

And yet, Gaza had never seen someone with such a high degree of genetic adaptability.

He could transform out melee weapons, organic thermal blasters and even fire out organic guided missiles which he controlled using his brain waves.

More importantly, he was simply too capable of taking a beating.

Throughout the battle, he would only protect his head. Attacks aimed at the other parts of his body would be simply endured. Even if the attacks were to make a see-through hole on his body, he could quickly recover, becoming as good as new.

Those two had entangled Gaza while the remaining three kept taking down his other team members who were nearby.

Of their three Thunderstorm Tanks, none was left.

Should this be allowed to continue…

Gaza suddenly felt that he might end up facing a complete wipe-out in this instance dungeon.

“Xia Xiaolei, Soo Soo, hold him down! Don’t let him get away!”

Lun Tai hacked his opponent, knocking him backwards. At the same time, a bullet from Bei Tai accurately struck the opponent’s head, which burst into a cloud of blood.

“Understood!”

Naturally, Thorned Flower Guild’s comprehensive combat power was great. However, Gaza was only the leader of one of Thorned Flower Guild’s sub teams. Additionally, they had already lost quite some men in their earlier battle with Tian Lie and Nicole. They even lost two Thunderstorm Tanks in the battle. And now, ambushed by Meteor Rock Guild, they ended up in a disadvantageous position.

They had already obtained the meteorite. Staying here and fight was pointless. It would be better to just flee for now and repair his Magic Mech.

“Retreat separately!” Gaza was quick to decide. Promptly, he shared out the coordinates of a place through their guild channel.

With the verdant mountain intact, there was no need to fear a lack of firewood [1].

Before that, though, there was one last thing Gaza had to do.

Tian Lie was still lying still on the ground. It would appear that the virus he prepared was still in effect. If so…

His Magic Mech had been struck by two of Xia Xiaolei’s organic missiles and one of Soo Soo’s flaming phoenix attacks. A major part of its back armour plating had been blown away and a small part of its left leg had melted. Even so, it charged towards Tian Lie.

Kill him! No matter the cost!

Several halos wrapped around what remained of the Magic Mech’s left arm and it dove down from the sky, its fist smashing towards Tian Lie.

Ding!

Suddenly, a phantom-like silhouette floated up from the ground like a ghost.

In its hands was a knightly sword that gently poked the centre part of the Magic Mech.

That one move caused the Magic Mech’s movements to abruptly stiffen. Its forward momentum remained the same and its upraised fist was positioned in front. Next, the entire mech smashed into the ground.

The silhouette followed up with a slashing attack, cutting open the back part of the Magic Mech and taking out the meteorite that Gaza had stored inside a compartment.

After obtaining the meteorite, the silhouette – without so much as a warning – simply disappeared.

1 With the verdant mountain intact, there is no need to fear a lack of firewood. An idiom that meant as long as one remained alive, there would be hope for the future.
