Gate of Revelation

Chapter 803

Chapter 803

“Got a confession?”

Opening the door to her room, Nicole saw that Tian Lie was still inside. There was an open book placed on his chest and he smiled while looking at her.

“Why are you still here? Hurry up and get out. I’m going for a shower, then sleep.” Nicole frowned, looking unhappily at Tian Lie.

“It can’t be helped. Curiosity kills the cat.” Tian Lie carefully folded the page he was on before putting the book aside. “That kid. He liked you from back then, right? I’m quite curious. How did he confess to you and what did you say?”

“I rejected him.” Nicole walked into the room without closing the door. Then, she said coolly, “Hurry up and get out.”

“Fine.” Tian Lie slowly got up and walked towards the door. When walking past Nicole, he suddenly turned his head and said with a wicked smile, “I say, you rejected the kid. Surely, it is not… for me, right?”

Suddenly, Nicole summoned out her Floater and it began transforming beside her.

“You want to fight?” Tian Lie shook his head. “Even if you want to vent, you can’t do it here. To raise such a ruckus when we haven’t even found the enemy…”

Before he could finish speaking, however, he saw that the Floater was not transforming into a weapon. Neither did it transform into a mech suit to cover Nicole’s body. Instead, it spread out while transforming into a smooth mirror.

Reflected on the mirror was Tian Lie’s figure.

“What’s the meaning of this?”

Tian Lie looked at his reflection and blinked.

“Nothing, really. I just want to ask you to look in the mirror.” There was a serious look on Nicole’s face.

Roddy quickly informed the rest of Meteor Rock Guild about the things that happened to Chen Xiaolian after he disappeared.

This was – relatively speaking – something of a rousing good news.

That said, given the current situation of the instance dungeon, the news was of no help.

Their radars were still not showing the location of the meteorite. Thus, they could conclude that the other party must have started Hidden Quest 3. Only after 100 hours had passed would the system reveal their location.

The opponent was an [S] class expert to begin with. Even when combining the strength of Meteor Rock Guild, Tian Lie and Nicole, defeating this opponent would not be easy. Moreover, their side would have to rely on Tian Lie, a monstrous guy who was also an [S] class character.

Within that 100-hour period, he would be able to use the alien embryo to improve his strength again. How much stronger would he become? Just thinking about it made them feel pessimistic.

Thankfully, Qiao Qiao could see the description for this instance dungeon. The punishment for failing the quest was not death.

Upon failing the quest, 1,000 points would be deducted from each participant who failed. Additionally, the rewards for the next three instance dungeons would be halved. The 1,000 points deduction was not a particularly big number. However, considering Meteor Rock Guild’s current ability to earn points, having the points they earn cut down by half for three consecutive quests was quite the painful loss.

At the very least, though, this punishment was not too terrible for Meteor Rock Guild. It was much better than having to go to a punishment-type instance dungeon or worse, instant death.

Thus, if necessary, Meteor Rock Guild could choose to give up on this instance dungeon. They would lose a high number of points for the sake of preserving their lives.

After spending two days searching around, Roddy and the others had simply given up.

Clearly, the one who snatched away the meteorite had resolved to hide himself completely. If so, spending more time looking for him would simply be for naught. It would be better for them to just wait for the system’s protection period to end.

On the morning of the fifth day, something finally happened…

A prompt appeared in everyone’s personal system at the same time.

[System prompt:

[Protection period will be ending soon. In 3 hours, the location of the Species Lord will be displayed upon the personal radar once more. Countdown: 2:59:59]

“Finally…”

After receiving the prompt, Roddy breathed a sigh of relief.

He had been spending the past few days cooped up inside the hotel. He was already about to die of suffocation.

Previously, his Sentinel mech had sustained serious damage, even losing an arm. Thus, he had removed the components of another Sentinel mech to use as spare parts and replacement for his damaged Sentinel mech.

However, the key components of his main Sentinel mech had been enhanced with Star Sand before while this spare one was not. The new right arm also had white flowers painted on its surface, looking completely different from the other parts of the mech, giving the whole thing an awkward appearance.

It will soon be time to face their enemy.

Although there were still three hours left, the members of Meteor Rock Guild, Nicole and Tian Lie had already gathered up. They were sunbathing in a park not far away from the hotel, waiting quietly for the radar.

“The sunshine in California is pretty good. A pity, there are only two more hours left to enjoy it.” Qiao Qiao lay on the lawn, stretching while giving out a contented sigh.

“There’ll be plenty of time to enjoy it once we complete this instance dungeon.” Lun Tai smiled. “Do not forget. Our opponent is an [S] class guy.”

“[S] class… beating him is not necessarily impossible.” Roddy smacked his lips and glanced at Tian Lie, who was nearby. “I say, if I am not mistaken, you are [S] class, right?”

Tian Lie smiled. “It wasn’t an easy win for you guys.”

“Yes. Nicole died. However, it shows that, at the very least… [S] class is not invincible.” Roddy sighed. “How unexpected. To think that a day would come when I would fight alongside you.”

“I advise you to not view this so casually.” Tian Lie, though, shook his head. “Do you think that all [S] class fellows are on the same level?”

“Tell us about it.”

Lun Tai turned to look at Tian Lie. “You mean to say, the opponent we have to face this time is stronger than you?”

“Hard to say.” Tian Lie hesitated for a moment. Shaking his head, he then said, “This Aderick is someone who made a name for himself a long time ago. As the Guild Leader of the Knights of Darkness Guild, his comprehensive strength is surely not weak. But I have never fought him before. I also do not know how good he is.”

“Wait! Wait! Wait!” Roddy abruptly jumped to his feet.

“Aderick? Knights of Darkness Guild? How do you know its him? Also… isn’t the Knights of Darkness Guild a resident guild of Zero City?!”

Having lived in the Awakened world for over half a year, it was only natural for Roddy to know a lot about it. And while Zero City had been destroyed, Roddy had still heard of those names.

“As a former Inspector of Thorned Flower Guild, even though I have never met him in person, I do have information about him,” Tian Lie said coolly. “The Guild Leaders of the resident guilds of Zero City, their equipment and skills, how could I not know all that?”

“They… are truly still alive.” Roddy glanced at Nicole, but Nicole merely lowered her head as she played with a stalk of grass in her hand. It was as though she did not hear the words being exchanged at all.

“Alright. Hurry, tell us about his skills. The more information we can collect before the battle, the better it would be for us,” Lun Tai hastily said.

“His main style of fighting is close combat. Using his own skill and the [S] class Soul Eater Sword he wields, he can directly attack his opponent’s soul. Naturally, his one weakness is that he needs his weapon to make contact with his opponent’s body before it could take effect. But once it makes contact, the damage it deals is considerable. Another way of putting it…” Tian Lie rolled his eyes. “This guy counters me a bit.”

“I think… it’s not just a bit, is it?” Roddy regarded Tian Lie.

“Bluntly put, your monstrous ability to recover is completely non-existent to him.”

“Yes.” Tian Lie nodded honestly.

“Damn it! I was thinking you could become our main fighting force,” Roddy swore loudly.

“However, his fighting style is closer to that of an assassin. Even though his offensive power is formidable, he might not be as capable in combat as me,” Tian Lie’s words gave Roddy and the others a bit more confidence. “Besides, you fellows are already much stronger than before. Even if you guys have to face Aderick, you might be able to fight him.”

“We are very confident about that.” Roddy smiled.

For the past six months, by relying on Qiao Qiao’s BUG, Meteor Rock Guild had been practically cheating their way through as they joined every instance dungeon. At present, every single person in their guild was at least an [A] class.

The [S] class was very strong, extremely so. But that did not mean it was invincible.

Even a monster like Tian Lie, with his near-unkillable body, had been finished off in the Tokyo instance dungeon.

“However, I am currently worried about what he can get from the alien meteorite. I do not believe that he was simply spending the past few days in hiding without doing anything.” Lun Tai shook his head.

His tone had been one of speculation, but everyone from Meteor Rock Guild knew that this was not a speculation. It was a certainty.

The description that Qiao Qiao saw was very clear. The one who devoured it would replace the embryo within the meteorite and become the Species Lord. In addition, he will also obtain the ability to spread out alien genes.

Presently, Aderick had become the BOSS of this instance dungeon.

A shrill siren suddenly rang out from the roadside and the three of them turned their heads to see several police cars that were parked beside the road turning on their sirens before quickly driving away.

Farther ahead, faint roaring sounds kept appearing again and again.

It would appear that… something was happening.

Exchanging glances, Lun Tai and the others swiftly stood up and walked towards the car parked beside the road.

“Let’s go, after them. We’ll see just what is going on.”
