Chapter 524: Monstrous Strength
Chapter 524: Monstrous Strength
The Crimson Sky Wyrm and the Blazing Pterodactyls opened their jaws several times to unleash flaming breath attacks toward the throne.
Every attempt failed.
The moment they started charging their attacks, another spear would fly upward from the Drowned King. The throws were too fast and too powerful. The flying summons had no choice but to stop their attacks and dodge.
"This is taking too long," Eleanor shouted while blocking another spear. "At this rate, we’ll exhaust ourselves first. My lady, use Plan C!"
Emily immediately understood what she meant.
"Plan C!" she ordered.
Three giant summons charged forward simultaneously.
The Colossus Grazer led the charge while the Iron Armor Rhino and Stoneward followed close behind.
All three were tank-type summons specialized in defense and direct confrontation.
The Colossus Grazer roared as giant cyclones formed around its horns before launching horizontally like enormous spears. The horn of the Iron Armor Rhino glowed blood red while Stoneward’s entire body became covered in a golden-yellow aura.
At the same moment, Alice transformed.
Black scales rapidly covered her body as her size expanded.
A giant black dragon appeared on the battlefield.
[Domain of War.]
Mana erupted outward from Alice, empowering everyone within range. Emily immediately felt the enhancement spread across her summons as their mana surged violently.
Then Alice opened her maw.
Golden dragon breath exploded forward.
The combined attacks crashed toward the throne in a catastrophic explosion. Water, mist, and debris erupted into the air while shockwaves powerful enough to uproot ancient trees tore through the surrounding ruins.
For a brief moment, nobody could see anything.
Then the dust slowly cleared.
The Drowned King was still sitting on his throne.
His posture had not changed at all.
In front of him stood a gigantic sword stabbed into the ground. The blade itself nearly rivaled his size.
Chains extended outward from the sword, binding all three of Emily’s tank summons in place.
The sword itself had intercepted Alice’s dragon breath entirely.
The Drowned King slowly raised his gaze toward the Crimson Sky Wyrm and Blazing Pterodactyls preparing another attack overhead.
Chains suddenly erupted upward.
They shot through the air like giant serpents toward the flying summons.
All four flying summons immediately scattered and maneuvered around the chains while attempting to intercept them.
However, at that exact moment, a giant crimson beam suddenly materialized directly in front of the Drowned King’s face.
BOOM!
The explosion shook the entire palace ruins.
Half the throne shattered apart.
When the smoke cleared, the Drowned King’s helmet was completely gone, and half of his skeletal face had melted away.
For the first time since the battle started, the Boss Monster looked angry.
The Drowned King slowly turned his gaze toward an empty area of the battlefield.
Mana erupted violently from his body.
The illusions shattered apart instantly, revealing the Thorn Tyrant and the Abyssal Jester hiding there.
The Drowned King roared in fury. The sound caused the flooded water across the battlefield to explode upward.
Then he finally stood up.
He grabbed the gigantic sword.
The pressure throughout the battlefield doubled instantly. Emily felt her entire body grow heavier as though a mountain had been dropped onto her shoulders.
The Boss slowly raised the sword overhead.
White light gathered around the blade.
Then he swung downward.
Emily’s eyes widened immediately.
The attack was monstrous.
The pressure behind that single slash rivaled the final attack the Colossus Grazer used during the Boss Battle in the First Area.
And this was merely the Drowned King’s first direct attack.
The difference between the Boss Monsters of the First and Second Areas was absurd.
The sword descended, drawing a glowing white line through the air itself.
At that moment, Eleanor stepped forward.
Empowered by Alice’s Domain of War, she planted one foot firmly into the flooded ground and swung her sword upward with everything she had. Mana exploded around her blade violently as the two attacks collided head-on. The pressure generated from the clash distorted the air itself while blinding light swallowed the battlefield whole.
Then the explosion came.
The world disappeared beneath white light and deafening sound.
Emily felt her body thrown backward alongside Alice before she even realized what had happened. Stone pillars shattered around them while shockwaves ripped through the palace ruins like a natural disaster. Water erupted into the air across the flooded battlefield as chunks of the palace were torn apart from the impact.
For several seconds, Emily could hear nothing except a painful ringing inside her ears.
When she slowly regained consciousness, she found herself buried beneath broken stone and shallow water. Her head burned painfully, and her vision remained blurry for a moment. She forced herself upright while coughing from the dust and mist filling the air.
Then she looked ahead.
Half the palace was gone.
The right side of the gigantic structure had completely vanished, reduced to rubble scattered across the marshland. Even the clouds high above the battlefield had been blown apart by the shockwaves from the collision. Sunlight briefly descended upon the flooded ruins, illuminating the battlefield for the first time since entering the Second Area.
Emily’s breathing slowed as she stared toward the center of the battlefield.
Eleanor still stood there.
She was breathing heavily while supporting herself with her sword. Blood continuously flowed from the corner of her mouth before she suddenly bent forward and vomited blood onto the flooded ground. Her arms trembled visibly from the strain, yet she still refused to collapse.
Opposite her stood the Drowned King.
Or rather, what remained of him.
The gigantic sword was gone completely, shattered into countless fragments spread throughout the battlefield. More shocking than that, the Boss Monster’s arm below the elbow had also disappeared entirely.
Emily stared blankly for a moment.
The scene felt unreal.
Eleanor’s strength in the First Area had already left everyone speechless, but this was something entirely different. The Boss Monster of the Second Area was monstrously stronger than anything they had faced before, yet Eleanor had met its full-powered attack directly and won the clash.
