Chapter 665: Goddess’ Shock, War God

The blurry figure stared at Isaac. He could not make out her eyes clearly, but he could tell that she was looking directly at him.

After a moment, the blurry figure turned her attention toward Goddess Ruth. A quiet sigh escaped Goddess Sylvie as she seemed to consider how she should explain what she had to say.

"I would have preferred to speak about this in private, since it concerns your personal history. However, we cannot stray too far from Ruth, as she is one of the focal points of this summoning along with Selene. Still, I will give you my word that Ruth is trustworthy, so you don’t have to worry," Goddess Sylvie said.

Isaac frowned slightly. A secret about him? He immediately wondered if this had something to do with his parents. Another possibility crossed his mind as well. Perhaps Seraphine, the War God’s angel, had already told Goddess Sylvie that he was related to the War God.

Isaac decided to wait and listen. It was not as though he could stop a literal goddess from speaking if she decided to reveal something, and even if he somehow managed to interrupt her, she could simply tell him after he left. There was no point in worrying about something he could not control.

Besides, Isaac trusted Goddess Sylvie to some extent. If she really was the Goddess of War, Harvest, and Love, then she clearly knew far more than most of the other Gods he had encountered. She had been paying attention to him from the beginning and had even congratulated him after he awakened Alice, knowing that without him, Alice would have had a much harder life.

"You are the son of the War God," Goddess Sylvie said.

Isaac nodded. He was surprised, but not nearly as shocked as he might have been. He had already considered the possibility, so hearing it confirmed did not completely catch him off guard. In truth, part of him still did not understand what being the War God’s son actually meant, and perhaps that was why he could remain so calm.

His greatest advantage was still the Bonded Blessing System. Without it, Isaac doubted he would have ever awakened the Warthrone Physique in the first place. He did not even possess a bloodline despite being the War God’s son, so the revelation did not suddenly make him feel as though he had inherited some overwhelming power.

The more Isaac thought about it, the less impressive it seemed. His physique was certainly powerful, and he could not deny that having such an ability was an enormous advantage, but that was about it. Being the son of a God did not automatically solve every problem in his life.

Selene was also calm, although Isaac could tell that she was trying to appear calmer than she actually felt. Her eyes carried a complicated expression that Isaac could understand without needing to ask her about it. The partial memories of her past life had given her enough reason to dislike, if not outright hate, the War God, and now the man she loved had been confirmed to be his son.

Even though Selene had already vowed that she would never harm Isaac, the revelation would naturally create a storm of emotions within her. Isaac could only imagine what it felt like to learn that the person closest to her was connected by blood to someone she had such complicated feelings toward.

The strongest reaction, however, came from Goddess Ruth.

"What? The son of the War God? That brute actually had a child?" Goddess Ruth shouted, her usual dignity almost disappearing from her expression.

She stared at Isaac in disbelief before suddenly turning toward Goddess Sylvie. "No, wait. That cannot be right. He is from the mortal realm, so the War God must have married and had children with someone else. You, of all people, want to make your husband’s son from another woman your chosen? That’s like saying sun if rising from—"

"Enough," Goddess Sylvie said, cutting her off.

Isaac could not clearly see Goddess Sylvie’s expression, but whatever Goddess Ruth saw was enough to make her flinch. The Goddess of Wealth and Purity quickly stopped herself and took a breath before lowering her voice.

"I apologize for my unbecoming behavior. It is simply surprising to hear that the War God had children," Goddess Ruth said.

"Is it really that surprising?" Isaac asked.

He had asked Seraphine the same question before, and the answer seemed to be no different this time. Still, Isaac could not help but be curious. If everyone knew so much about the War God, then surely there had to be a reason they found the idea of him having a child so strange.

"It is. Even if he reincarnated, his soul should still be the same. Knowing him, I would have expected him to focus entirely on training and creating absolute chaos wherever he went," Goddess Ruth explained.

Goddess Sylvie sighed and rubbed her forehead. From her reaction, Isaac got the impression that she had expected roughly the same thing from the War God.

"Was he really that chaotic?" Isaac asked.

Anyone would be curious after hearing people talk about someone like that. Isaac had heard the War God’s name many times, but strangely enough, he had rarely heard about the things the man had actually accomplished. Now that he thought about it, that was rather strange.

"Yes. He was one of the fastest mortals to become a God. When he was still a mortal, he stopped a God from invading his home dimension, and he eventually became the first human to ever become a God. Before him, it was considered impossible for humans to reach Godhood, but he proved everyone wrong," Goddess Ruth said.

She paused for a moment before continuing.

"He also had a habit of going after people for seemingly no reason, regardless of how powerful they were, and killing them when they crossed paths. He was chaotic, but he was also strong and just in his own way. Of course, with the System our world has now, you may not think those achievements sound particularly difficult. But back then, there was no System like this one, and even the previous System was vastly different. Those achievements were considered nearly impossible."
