Chapter 707: Child, Don’t Call Her That

Chapter 707: Child, Don’t Call Her That

"Oh, yeah. I’m the Emperor," Gael said casually, nodding as though he had just mentioned an ordinary position.

Isaac nodded along automatically before suddenly stopping. He slowly turned his head toward Gael, his expression becoming increasingly strange as he realized what he had just heard.

"You’re the Emperor?" Isaac asked, still finding it difficult to connect the mischievous disciple he remembered with the ruler of Florathi.

"Yes, I am," Gael answered, looking completely unconcerned about Isaac’s reaction. He continued walking toward the entrance of the main attraction, leaving Isaac to follow behind him while thinking about the implications of what he had just learned.

Suddenly, the situation had become much more complicated. If Gael was really the Emperor, then the Emperor was supposedly one of Isaac and the Sword Empress’s allies, so why had the Florathi caused so much trouble for him? There were too many things that did not make sense, and Isaac could already feel another complicated situation forming around him.

While Isaac was silently putting the pieces together, Gael continued walking as if nothing unusual had happened. After a moment, he seemed to remember something else and turned his attention back toward Isaac.

"Oh, right. What’s going on with Alice? I caught a glimpse of her earlier, and that thing inside her is going wild. Are you not taking care of her properly?" Gael asked, his tone becoming slightly more serious.

"Huh?" Isaac muttered, momentarily confused by the question. Then he immediately remembered Alice’s strange behavior in the market.

Alice had been unusually quiet from the moment they arrived, and although Isaac had noticed it, he had assumed that she was simply thinking about something she did not want to discuss. He had decided to give her space because she seemed to be hiding something from him, but if Gael’s words were to be trusted, then perhaps the situation was more serious than Isaac had thought.

Gael glanced at him and continued, "Take care of her, brat. Otherwise, you’re going to end up getting locked up. Trust me, it isn’t a pleasant experience."

Isaac blinked before looking at Gael with a suspicious expression. For some reason, it sounded as though Gael had experienced being locked up himself at some point, and Isaac was beginning to wonder just how many strange things had happened during Gael’s two lives.

However, instead of asking those questions, Isaac returned to the matter that had been bothering him since their reunion.

"So why did you suddenly appear here?" he asked, wanting a proper answer this time.

Gael continued walking for a few more steps before casually answering, "Just because. There wasn’t any particular reason. I only wanted to ask you about how your meeting with that child went."

The two continued walking through the waterpark toward the place where Isaac had decided to meet the others, with Isaac leading the way and Gael following beside him. Quite a few people, especially women, turned their heads to look at them as they passed, but neither of them paid much attention to it.

There was also no need for them to worry about anyone overhearing their conversation. Both Isaac and Gael were using their own abilities to conceal their voices and thoughts from anyone who might be trying to eavesdrop, so they could speak without worrying about the people around them.

"Child?" Isaac asked after a moment, returning to the strange way Gael had referred to Jasmine.

"Jasmine, the Seventh Queen," Gael replied.

"Why are you calling her a child?" Isaac asked before pausing to think about it. "Never mind. You’re over a hundred years old, while she’s only twenty-one, so I suppose you can technically call her that."

"So?" Gael asked, looking at him.

Isaac was about to give him a convenient answer, but then he remembered who he was talking to. Gael was not only his senior disciple, but someone who had been like an older brother to him during Selene’s Trial, and now that he knew Gael was the Emperor, it was likely that he already knew about the God Domain Isaac currently had the highest affinity with.

"How else could it have gone? She spoke politely, but it was obvious that she thought my intentions were impure. She seemed to think I was interested in Althea and her for the wrong reasons, and it was pretty easy to tell that she hated me," Isaac finally said.

Gael laughed when he heard that. "Don’t worry about it. She hates almost everyone, so you shouldn’t take it too personally. In fact, she might actually hate you less than most people because she normally won’t allow anyone to get close to her, let alone meet her in person even if it’s for something important, but she still did that for you."

Isaac looked at Gael with some surprise. He had not expected Gael to know that much about today’s meeting, and the fact that he knew Isaac had met with real body of Seventh Queen made him wonder how much information the Emperor actually had about the people around him.

"Is that so?" Isaac asked before continuing, "Anyway, I apologize if it seemed like my intentions were impure. I have no intention of looking at sister-in-law like that—"

"Don’t call her that," Gael interrupted in a cold voice.

Isaac immediately looked at him with a confused expression. The sudden change in Gael’s tone was unexpected, especially because he had been joking only a moment earlier.

Gael noticed Isaac’s confusion. He sighed and scratched his head as his expression gradually softened. "It’s complicated. I’ll explain everything properly when I have some time, but between the two of us, I hope you won’t refer to her as my wife. It’s already annoying enough dealing with the ministers, and at least when I’m with you, I want to be comfortable enough to speak normally."

There was a strange mixture of frustration, exhaustion, and resignation in Gael’s sigh. Isaac could tell that there was clearly a much larger story behind those words, but he decided not to press him about it yet.

"Fine. I won’t call her that. But now I’m even more curious about what happened between the two of you," Isaac said after a moment.

Gael glanced at him from the corner of his eye and gave him a helpless smile. "I’ll tell you eventually, but if I start explaining everything now, we probably won’t reach the others before they leave the waterpark."
