Chapter 1020 Cockpit
Chapter 1020 Cockpit
Sylas' eyes looked at the swirled tufts of white hair that almost looked… styled. He couldn't help but wonder if it was just like that naturally, or if it was groomed to be like that. And if it was groomed on purpose, then how was it that it had managed to maintain itself while she changed from centaur to human, and then back again?
Also, why did her horn only grow out when she lost her original lower half? It was an odd correlation.
Megean blinked when she noticed Sylas' gaze focused on her lower half. At first, she thought it was just the first time he had seen a member of the Unitaur Race, so she didn't think much of it. But then she suddenly remembered something, and her face went bright red.
She hurried to turn around, pulling out a pair of pants from what must have been a spatial device.
Sylas felt a heat inside of him drum itself up as she jiggled around, struggling far too much to put on what was most definitely a pair of pants that was much too tight for her.
No, the sizing of the waist was fine enough. But it was clearly not tailored well enough for her hips and, well…
Sylas shook his head and finally closed his eyes, calming the blood rushing to the top of his head. His Will stamped it out with ease, and soon it felt like a cool stream was flowing through his veins.
When he opened his eyes again, Megean was pulling up the rest of her white pants over herself and struggling to button it at the waist. Finally, she pulled her shirt down over her… assets and finally turned around again, clearing her throat.
Megean was an extremely young genius of the Unitaurs. She looked mature only behind her glasses, but in reality, she was only 20 years old when her age was adjusted from the calendar of her Race and their relative evolution speed.
"… Apologies… I have a bad habit of doing that…" she cleared her throat again and muttered under her breath. "… But you're the only one that actually looked the whole time…"
The latter part was just for herself, but Sylas heard it pretty clearly.
"Are you good now?" the Inspector asked.
"I have no idea what you're talking about!" Megean said with a little bit of a squeal in her tone.
It was only then that the Inspector finally removed his palms from his eye sockets. He didn't even dare to use his fingers for fear of being accused of impropriety.
Most Guardians were well above Inspectors in terms of status, but that wasn't the main problem here.
The Unitaurs were an extraordinarily powerful Race. Even the weakest of them were of the D tier in terms of Race Grade. In the Golden Grove, their status was near unmatched. Only the Aurans were of equivalent stature to them.
Megean was an extremely young genius of the Unitaurs. She looked mature only behind her glasses, but in reality, she was only 20 years old when her age was adjusted from the calendar of her Race and their relative evolution speed.
Despite being just 20 years old, she was already nearing Level 100 and would be preparing for an ascent into D-Grade very soon.
It was safe to say that although the Inspector was a tier above her, he didn't dare to look at her frivolously. No one did.
She had made that mistake more than once, mostly because she very rarely stepped out of her half-Unitaur form in the first place. But one could best believe that anyone nearby would react much the same way the Inspector had.
If news that Sylas had looked the entire time came out, it certainly wouldn't be Megean who made him pay; it would be one of her many uncles and brothers, if not her father himself.
But in the Inspector's opinion, he would rather be beaten to death by the former group than face the latter.
Usually, when she made that mistake, Megean would pretend as though nothing had happened. But right now, she was having a hard time not being entirely beet red.
This was completely different from her usual reaction, which meant…
The Inspector gave Sylas a look that was half envy, half pity.
Megean cleared her throat again, and then again. Then she was forced to do it again as it seemed her throat wasn't working properly at all, so she even had to slam a couple of fists on her chest before she could finally make another sound.
Sylas' eyes narrowed. Just the reverberating thumps of that tiny action were enough to make him extra cautious.
This woman… she was powerful. More powerful than anyone he had ever met personally.
Subconsciously, he had eliminated the Inspector from his mind. Even his master didn't quite count to him because he was nothing more than a projection.
"Alright, come with me, please."
After saying this, Megean waved a hand and took the chains that bound Sylas away from the Inspector.
"Wait, how am I supposed to…"
"You can do your next mission without it. Or just borrow one."
"But that—."
Megean began to scurry away, ignoring the Inspector's words. But she didn't seem to notice that the source of her embarrassment was the very same man she was dragging around now.
Lorien gave the Inspector a look, and then a bow, before rushing after them as well. Much like the Inspector, though she was a woman, she hurriedly closed her eyes as well, just following his lead. She wasn't sure if Sylas had done the same, but right now, she wasn't aware of just how much that would matter.
As for Sylas, he had already placed this at the back of his mind. What was this woman talking about, exactly?
He was pulled out of the room into a long series of maze-like hallways. There was nothing grandiose or special about them at all; it just felt like he was in a more elaborate laboratory or hospital basement.
"Where are you taking me?" Sylas asked.
Megean cleared her throat again, trying to clear her mind of what had just happened.
"There's a cockpit that you seem to be very much suited for. I want to see if I'm right before I make any other decisions."
"Cockpit?"
"Oh right, you don't know." Megean didn't look back, afraid to meet Sylas' eyes. "Not cockpit, technically it's called a UniForge, designed by Race. There's one my grandfather designed that has been lying useless for quite a while, and you might have the affinities to use it."
