Chapter 1229 One Day [Bonus]
Chapter 1229 One Day [Bonus]
Sylas opened the door to find not Ansla, but the Duchess.
She was back in her cloak, and covered quite well from head to toe. Even her aura smelled different than usual, not carrying the same unique scent as before.
But he knew it was her. The one thing that was impossible to change—or at the very least he had never heard of a possible method—was one's Will.
A glove-covered palm pressed against the door and Sylas was forced to take a step back to accommodate her
entrance.
Before he could say much, the door had slammed shut behind him, and a vial was practically bulldozed through his chest.
Sylas looked down at the vial, his Runeweaver Eyes already capable of seeing through the Runes that formed it. It wasn't poison, it was a Healing Elixir. A powerful one at that.
But it was designed for Demons and formed from Demonic Runes. If he drank it…
Well, honestly, he wasn't sure of what the result would be.
Normal Healing Elixir formed a symbiotic relationship with your Constitution, accelerating your personal healing factor that way.
If Sylas was just looking for that, he could use Fusion and then cast his Hibernation Halo. Now that his Vipermancy Profession was E-Grade, the healing he could get from that was exceptional.
Plus, he had already managed to force a Fusion with Gogo in a heavily injured state before. His Profession didn't have nearly the same limitations as before. Being at 70% capacity right now was more than enough to allow a Fusion.
The reason he hadn't was because he wasn't sure who was watching, and he was still trying to hide the full extent of his abilities.
This didn't even count all the resources he had practically pillaged from the Golden Grove. He had plenty of powerful Healing Elixirs of his own.
This aside, if Demonic Healing Elixirs worked the same way… well, Sylas had just found out that their blood was very different, so the method it used to pull energy from him would also be much different.
'Can I safely drink this?' Sylas asked.
'You have the Gluttony Seed, there's nothing you can't eat.
It's not my fault you've been using it like a complete fool.'
'But will it heal me as it's supposed to?'
'For you, Demonic Elixirs are probably even better than the ones you are used to.'
Sylas didn't know what this meant, but he didn't hesitate much to tilt the vial open and to the back of his throat. He chugged it in one go, taking internal note that he would have to get better at assessing these things on his own in the future.
If he wanted to create a Human Simioid Rune Armor, he should at least be able to guess the effects an Elixir would have on his body from the Runes alone. Just being able to tell it was a Healing Elixir wasn't enough.
Well, there was only one way to start. He didn't have much experience with using Elixirs in general, and honestly he was surprised the Scorned Wraps let him use them at all. So, he focused on the changes to his body immediately and was taken aback by what he felt.
'This… I see…'
At first, Sylas was shocked because the Elixir hadn't taken anything from his body. He thought that somehow the Demons had those legendary Elixirs capable of healing without taking anything.
But then he realized where the energy was coming from.
There was highly potent blood within the Elixir forming the foundation of the healing.
'I see… Demon blood is basically Blood Essence and much easier to harvest as a result. Technically, if I use my Blood Essence snatching abilities, there's nothing stopping me from replicating this in the outside world. I'd just need to find the rest of the formula. Unless… Blood Essence and Runes alone trigger it…'
Sylas didn't have much interest in becoming an alchemist, but if he could carry his own personal Healing Elixirs around from the corpses of his enemies, wouldn't that be huge?
The Greed Seed had once been able to do that for him, but he couldn't have it for obvious reasons. And now, with his Race Grade accelerating and improving every day, finding methods that could keep up with the healing he needed was very difficult.
This had suddenly opened up a new door.
All at once, Sylas' skin was back to normal, even the fractures to his legs caused by the Duchess' father were back to normal, and he could stop using his telekinesis to compensate for them.
Taking a breath, he finally looked at the Duchess again.
"My father overstepped today," she said in that familiar arrogant voice. But her words themselves seemed to
underline something else entirely. "He is very protective of me, but he shows it in his own way."
"I've already said that I am not interested in you. He should have listened," Sylas replied coldly.
"You should also learn to choose your words more carefully.
My father may have chosen to respect your backbone today, but it is only because he knows that he went too far too. At some point, honor alone isn't enough to rein in a man's temper, and you are not strong enough yet."
"That's what your father seemed to think today, and look what happened?"
The Duchess suddenly became exasperated.
"Do you think my father and Ebison are the same sort of character? Even if my father was the same Level as Ebison, he could slaughter him with half a move. They are not the same!"
"Yeah? And could your father make a joke of the ant while he was a Level 50?"
The Duchess froze for a moment, not knowing how to answer. Her pride wanted her to say yes. Her logic wanted to say no. But that was because no one could say yes to such a thing in good conscience.
"If that's everything, you can leave now," Sylas said coldly.
"…"
The Duchess hesitated, looking toward the door.
"… I don't believe for a moment that you're not moved by me.
If you liked Ansla for her character, her lack of action today should have proved to you what woman she is, so I doubt a man of your caliber has much interest in her left.
"Don't you want an opportunity to elevate yourself? Maybe you could even get revenge against my father yourself one day."
