Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1330: Three Wars

Chapter 1330: Three Wars

As ready as Sylas felt he was, the process was even more complicated than he thought it would be.

Truthfully, he knew that nothing like this could possibly be simple. Even with his talent in Rune Mastery, the best thing he had ever done in regard to his body was form a Gene Talent for himself. However, even then, not only had he had a template to work with and references to draw from, but he had the foundation of a broken one in his body as well.

It could be said that Sylas had never formally created something worthy of being acknowledged by the system except for his Glassvolt Poison Rune.

However, even then, he had yet to draw his Glassvolt Poison Rune to 100% Mastery. He had just managed to form a Rune with 100 Foundations, which was just as impressive, of course—but not the same.

That said, Sylas was sure that he could draw it to 100% Mastery now. The problem then was that everything else would be so simple.

The good news was that Sylas didn’t believe he actually had to draw anything of the sort right now. He just had to guide the evolutions. The bits and pieces from his Raw Template and his new Gene Classes were already within him; he just had to arrange them properly.

Unfortunately, that was where all the good news ended. It felt like there were simply way too many things to balance.

For one, Gene Classes were great and powerful. But having two of them that weren’t necessarily compatible wasn’t nearly as great as it seemed.

Luckily, Chaotic Sovereign and Glassborn Crystal Emperor weren’t polar opposites. In fact, they had differing strengths.

Chaotic Sovereign was more rooted in the bone and muscle, while Glassborn Crystal Emperor was more Mental- and Will-based. They didn’t have reason to clash and negate one another.

However, the body wasn’t as simple as having such strict and well-thought-out divisions. All stats fed into one another, and there was always bound to be overlap—even if it wasn’t as much overlap as it might have otherwise been in a worst-case scenario.

The second issue was his Seeds. A lot like his Classes, his Seeds were spread throughout all the many Layers of his body, and each one seemed to want to interact with his Gene Classes.

His Gluttony Seed seemed especially enamored with Glassborn Crystal Emperor.

Sylas vaguely understood that this was because of the overlaps Gluttony had with Greed, and now, of the two Paths of Glass, he had taken the selfish path. Due to this, the synergy between Glassborn Crystal Emperor and his Gluttony Seed was actually quite high.

His True Pride Seed, however, was always attempting to latch onto both.

Whether it was his Simioid or Glass Gene Class, both of them had aspects of Sovereignty his True Pride Seed couldn’t get enough of.

The Lust Seed’s actions were a bit more subtle, but it seemed to pull on the Chaotic Sovereign Class more as well. There was something particularly feral and bestial about the Chaotic Sovereign Class that spoke to Lust in ways the others didn’t.

If it were just this, maybe there would be a balance, but his Seeds weren’t satisfied with this alone.

Gluttony might have liked Glassborn Crystal Emperor more, but Chaotic Simioid literally came fitted with [Primal Gut], a Gene Skill directly designed to help facilitate digestion and consumption. How could Gluttony not love such a thing?

And then there was Lust. It too seemed to want to dip its toes into Glassborn Crystal Emperor. What was an Emperor without a harem? Especially if he decided to take the path of selfishness as he had.

There didn’t seem to be any escaping either path, and both wanted to root themselves into his Gene Classes.

This seemed to be a path of strengthening both Classes considerably, but it was hard to say how much to allow it and how much to rein them in.

The Seeds weren’t something that he could rely on indefinitely. He liked having control over himself, and he also knew something else quite clearly:

There could only be one official Sin. Unless he planned to fight three separate wars at the same time—claiming the helm of Pride, Lust, and Gluttony—he couldn’t afford to make all three of them key parts of his foundation. Otherwise, the chickens would inevitably come home to roost.

However, the more Sylas tried to rework things to take the safer path, the more he found that his Seeds just refused to let go.

The little girl was silent all the while, and he was beginning to find out that maybe this was the real reason she wanted him to have help.

No one had ever been able to sense when he used the Seeds. It seemed that their existence was similar to the Madness Key in that they existed, but only to a select few.

If Gralith were here, he would sense these Seeds as a hidden force of opposition and probably be capable of using some brute force to push past them.

However, Sylas couldn’t do this—not only because he didn’t have enough strength, but because he could also clearly feel that it would lead to an inferior product.

In the future, it might benefit him to not build his foundation on the back of three Sin Seeds. But right now... there was no doubt that it would harm him more than anything else.

So... Sylas made the obvious decision.

’Three wars, then.’

It was just a simple three words, but each one was spoken with a calm conviction.

If he was going to do the unconventional, then he would take it to the very limits.

The world didn’t seem to think it was possible to build an Empire in a single generation. Well... he’d just have to prove them wrong.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

A wild crackling erupted in Sylas’ body, a raging torrent of energy forming a whirlwind and surging out of his pores in an avalanche.

The entire mountain shook before everything slowly calmed.
