Chapter 1473: Threat

Chapter 1473: Threat

Boradora's pupils constricted, her expression becoming incomparably serious. Just now, she had felt that something was wrong, so she trusted her Luck and attacked. While it had worked out in the end, she wasn't sure that she could do something like that again.

She didn't understand what had happened just now. This felt beyond Rune Mastery. It was like she was watching someone forcefully rewrite the laws of the world in real time. There were obviously limits—there had to be, otherwise her attack wouldn't have worked. But knowing that there were limits and exploiting them were two completely different things.

And now, Sylas had somehow mimicked their Ouro and Boros Clan secrets.

She could tell that it wasn't the exact same, but what was clear was that Sylas' comprehension of infinity—while incomplete and flawed—was substantial enough that he could actually apply it in this way.

The thing was that Infinity wasn't a Comprehension; it wasn't recognized by the system because it was far too complex. The current system didn't have a way of accounting for Legendary Comprehensions properly. There was a reason it rewarded those like Sylas for carving out such paths so clearly.

The system was still trying to learn how to allow it.

But for the Ouro and Boros, Infinity was something they could only manifest through their Soul Constructs.

No, it was more accurate to say that the weaker Boros could only form it as a Soul Construct. In fact, the hydra that Sylas had destroyed earlier was a Soul Construct.

The Ouro, though, were far more powerful and managed to form it as a Wil Manifestation.

However, it was said that many generations ago, before the Ouro and Boros separated, and when their Ancestors were at the true height of their powers... Their concept of infinity manifested as their Race Quintessence, giving them the legendary Immortal Will. This was where the true legend of the hydra came from. And the monsters their Ancestors had once been stood on a level playing field with the most legendary creatures of ancient history.

And now, that ability was somehow being mimicked by Sylas through Blood Essence. Genes, Gene Talents, Blood Essence, Bone Essence, Comprehensions, Soul Constructs, Will Manifestations, Will Cores, and Race Quintessence.

This was how the layers of the body were laid out, and the deeper one went, the closer to one's Foundation one was, and the more powerful the effects.

Despite only using Blood Essence to present this concept of Infinity, Sylas' Comprehension of Infinity mimicked the Dao it had once been in ancient times far more closely than anything Boradora had seen outside of the truest monsters of her Race. How could her heart remain calm now?

If she wasn't certain before, she certainly was now.

Sylas was one of the Primus Imperium of this world. If they wanted the best rewards of this opening, they had to defeat him and take his spot.

But facing him now, she realized just how impossibly vast the gap was.

She felt that if they went all out, they could stall Sylas for a time. But the end result would be the same.

Death.

Revren, the Ouro that had just died, was probably the fifth most powerful amongst their group of twelve—now turned eleven. On top of that, he had fused with a Boros, increasing his power a substantial degree. By at least 50% or so.

With her skill in using the technique, she could manage 100%, on top of being far stronger than Revren to begin with, but she knew it wouldn't be enough.

And as they continued to fight, she knew that Sylas would only improve further. This concept of Infinity he had grasped was definitely new. If they fought now, they would just be giving him time to perfect it.

By the time he killed a second of them, a third, more... he would grow powerful enough that maybe he would only slaughter them even faster.

She didn't even have time to comprehend how he had grasped their Infinity from a glance, nor did she have time to comprehend what Profession was allowing him to control their Blood Essence so easily.

Right now, she only cared about one thing.

Survival.

"WAIT!" she roared, her red-scaled hydra rising. They flashed into a larger size, growing from a pinky's width to a thumb's, and then doubling from there before they came to a sudden stop. They increased in length, raising into the skies before she held up a hand. Sylas actually did pause when he heard her, but it wasn't because of her aura, nor the dangerous threat in her words, but rather what was in her hand.

There was a great deal of concentrated Will in the orb she held up. It certainly had a Will that was beyond the F-Grade.

I see...

Sylas knew from the moment the Ouro and Boros fused together, the appearance of the latter wasn't a coincidence. They had managed to get here by bending the rules somehow. It seemed that this was how.

The worlds here were all F-Grade; however, they had strict rules dividing them. If not for his map, a reward of the Legendary System, Sylas wouldn't be able to see through them ike he had.

In fact, if not for the fact his Luck had been so low previously, Sylas could have had a map of the entire floor, or maybe all the floors at once.

This aside, the point of this train of thought was the realization that this Tower of Champions was definitely a remnant of the previous Legendary System. As such, the control the current system had over it wasn't perfect and could be manipulated.

The Ouro's method was bringing in a treasure that amplified their Wills to a level beyond what the floors were designed to handle, allowing them to pierce the protective barriers and link with one another.

Understanding this, Boradora's threat was obvious.

It was either Sylas do as she said, or she would tell everyone that the staircase to the second floor was located in this territory and that the Primus Imperium they were looking for was right here.
