Chapter 1483: King Serpent (2)

Chapter 1483: King Serpent (2)

It felt as though the Basilisks had been resurrected. A Will that filled the skies shook the clouds and rustled the trees.

In the far-off distance, serpents who were simply trying to spectate froze in place. Those that had the slightest hint of malice in their hearts more than froze—their scales began to chip and petrify as they slowly turned to stone.

it was like they were being erased from existence, the pooling, endless Will from Sylas feeling like a tide they couldn't overcome no matter how hard they tried.

It was a gap that was simply insurmountable.

Sylas knew of the legend of Basilisks, of what they were capable of with their gazes, but he had never felt that Gogo had the ability to turn others to stone until this moment. However, this was because Gogo's eyes were too weak to withstand the power of this extent of his talent.

Sylas' eyes, though... were not.

BANG. BANG. BANG.

The clashing gazes of Sylas and the King Serpent caused the world to bend and whine. But what was clear in an instant was that Sylas’ Will was superior. When backed by the power of a Race that was actually worthy of him, the difference was akin to night and day.

The King Serpent slowly opened his mouth.

“You have taken advantage of a child."

Sylas slowly raised a clawed hand. His Will surged again, forming chains that rattled and danced in the skies.

"Are you going to give me what I want? Or are you going to continue to lie there speaking nonsense?"

There was one reason and one reason only Sylas spoke these words. Something deep inside Gogo didn’t want to see them fight even though his contract was very much on his side.

Out of respect for Gogo, Sylas spoke these words.

It would be the first and final chance he would give it.

"Human." The King Serpent's deep voice rumbled. "You are unworthy."

“Then you can die," Sylas said coldly.

BOOM.

The chains fell down from the skies and the King Serpent roared.

Chi. Chi. Chi.

Sylas' Will actually shattered like glass before the chains could land on the King Serpent. This was the first time Sylas had come across anything of the sort since his Will reached the Infinite Will state. It felt like the King Serpent was tapping into something he didn't understand, but it didn't matter in the slightest.

In a flash, nine large bulbs of silver appeared around Sylas, each one twice the size of his head.

It was time to put his new Legendary Treasure to use.

With a step, Sylas flashed forward. He almost felt face to face with the King Serpent, but over half a kilometer separated them, and Sylas planned to close that gap.

In a flash Sylas had already crossed half that distance, only to find a wall of scales in front of him.

A wall that was actually as tall as a mountain.

Sylas clenched a fist, having long expected this.

The nine spheres of silver snapped into one, forming an enormous fist that descended with the speed and fury of all of Sylas' might.

His telekinesis mass was already over a million kilograms. Matched with a 500x increase, it was simply unfathomable.

Even Earth's strongest hydraulic press could only produce a tenth of that force... And that was because Sylas even used the Lust and Gluttony Seeds.

He was completely on another level.

BOOM!

The tail was sent flying away with such speed the body of the King Serpent unraveled in the lake of water, large droplets splintering off toward all sides, moving so densely it felt as though a torrential storm was falling from the skies.

The silvery hand opened wide, slapping down with force and grabbing onto the thick body of the King Serpent.

Sylas' own palm flexed, his power churning with a deathly sort of menace.

His Domain fused with Gogo's power and canceled one Skill the King Serpent attempted to cast after another. And then... he pulled.

A roar escaped Sylas' lips as though a beast clawing itself free from a hellish abyss.

The backward momentum of the enormous serpent was stopped all at once. Sylas yanked it back with all his power.

The whiplash must have been shocking—going from accelerating back to forward in a single go.

And Sylas was right there to meet its head.

His eyes glowed with menace, his fist rotating with countless Runes as he smashed down a fist.

The power felt as though a pillar was connecting the skies and the earth, a perfect line being drawn through Sylas' bent elbow, down through his fist and the top of the King Serpent's head.

BOOM.

Destruction didn't seem to cut it. The world overturned, earth formed waves as though turning into an ocean of tsunamis from solid, and the clouds dispersed under the shuddering winds, splintering them apart.

Sylas stood high in the skies, his hand raised. His Morphic Silver Bearings returned to him, forming an enormous blade in the skies radiating sparks of his Will off its edges. Runes danced to life and sparks of lightning began to glow from it as well.

This King Serpent had overwhelming Will, so much so that Sylas' Vipermancy couldn't find purchase, nor could his Will slice it apart as easily as he had the other threats on the way here.

But that wasn't going to stop Sylas. Not in the slightest.

He had come here to perfect Gogo's path, and he had found the perfect catalyst.

The blade above his head grew as large as a mountain, shaking and trembling with its heft. It grew so dense and heavy that space warped around it, while Sylas' spatial Runes only forced this phenomenon to grow more exaggerated.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The gravity grew so great ancient trees were flattened in long stretches of land.

At that moment, the King Serpent finally pulled itself out of the large crater it had been left in, its eyes filled with fury.

"Boy," it growled with rage in its tone. "I will crush you!"

Sylas' blade descended and the King Serpent howled, a looming manifestation appearing behind it.

it wasn't a pair of eyes, nor was it another Serpent.

It was a tree, one so large Sylas couldn't see the start or end of it.

At that moment, Sylas was absolutely certain what serpent he was facing right now.

it was no Basilisk, but it was another beast no less legendary.

The World Serpent.

Erdiul's Note: The hell is Jormungandr doing here. This arc has been superb so far, gotta say.
