BANG.
The knight shuddered and was nearly blown into the wind. But just when it seemed that Sylas had crushed it, it solidified once again, this time less incorporeal and far realer.
As though Sylas had provoked something, the head of the knight turned. It had been looking straight forward until now. Even with Sylas beneath it, it continued to stare into empty space as though Sylas wasn't worth much to it, as though he should just be happy to accept his reward and call it a day.
However, the moment Sylas fought back, it seemed to notice him for the first time, looking down at him with what almost seemed like curiosity.
In response, the churning of the rainbow mist increased. As though feeling like Sylas could withstand more, it poured more in, and Sylas almost snapped back into a daze. The power of the Will simply felt endless. Whatever it was, it was Infinite, but it was far beyond Marked, far too heavy for him to withstand. And yet, there was this feeling in Sylas' gut that this was just a fraction of what it was—a mere tiny incarnation of millions, billions, trillions... Every time he tried to pin a number to it, it grew larger as though to sneer at him.
Sylas' True Pride Seed flared, his Will raging against it.
He slowly regained control of his body, the splitting pain in his head threatening to knock him back to the ground.
However, that pain felt too far away compared to the feeling of disgust that threatened to well up every time he thought of giving in.
That disgust was like a driving factor deep within his gut.
And that was when something truly peculiar happened.
He sensed it for the first time.
His Royal Hero Line.
His Legendary Royal Hero Line.
Ever since Sylas got his Royal Hero Line... he truly hadn't felt much of a difference, and he couldn't quite find it within his body either. There was also that odd Dauntless Spirit Title he had been given that never appeared on his status page either—the very same Title that his Primus Imperium Conquest Title had ended up destroying.
He knew that it was a good thing, but he hadn't had the chance to find out what it was because it had been too expensive.
The good news was that now, so long as it wasn't a Taboo, he could afford to ask the Madness Key any question he could think of. Even if it was a Taboo, he could afford the penalty even if he didn't get an answer.
However, he had just left the Tower of Champions with that ability, so he hadn't gotten around to it yet—only for it to somehow appear here like this.
He had had all sorts of theories about what having a Royal Hero Line truly meant. But what he hadn't expected was for it to be so tied to his Will. What he expected even less was for his Grimblade Lineage to suddenly awaken, as though a slumbering beast ready to pounce.
An ancient blade Sylas hadn't even known he had within his body awakened, its name echoing through the annals of history.
A gaze appeared before Sylas, piercing right into his soul. Somehow... he knew that this was Archibald's gaze.
His great, great, great. great-grandfather, looking at him from the past as he established this bloodline for the first time.
A torch was passed on as Sylas returned to that moment. And in that very instant...
He rewrote the entire history.
That was when Sylas truly grasped the power of a Royal Hero Line.
Whatever progress he made would rewrite the history of his family. He hadn't managed to find the fuel he needed to accomplish this... Until right this moment.
His Will roared.
The Champion shattered to pieces and tried to reform, but Sylas and his True Pride Seed were overwhelming.
No, not just his Will and True Pride Seed...
But his Legendary Royal Hero Line.
The Grimblade Bloodline evolved, an ancient, rusted blade without a hilt or guard flared in the depths of Sylas' soul.
Sylas' Will, tinted green, began to gain a hue of bronze undertones—one that seemed to be brightening toward gold.
Sylas' power roared with life, his bones all shattering apart and then reforming, before shattering apart again.
Right this moment, every Grimblade in existence was undergoing the very same baptism.
From an F-Grade Race, they progressed to E-Grade, and then from E-Grade, they progressed to D-Grade, and then from D-Grade, they progressed to C-Grade.
Sylas' body convulsed, but his mind was clear—clear enough to reach toward the World Shard.
The obelisks appeared, trembling as their body descended and practically crushed Sylas flat.
Sylas coughed up a mouthful of blood, but he didn't stop it.
It was all or nothing. He had a feeling that he couldn't allow this momentum to slow, no matter what.
His body was refined again and again, his foundation becoming wholer, fuller, more resplendent.
Veins of green-gold coursed across his body, his emerald gaze becoming surrounded by a ring of gold.
Royal and regal, his aura became more unapproachable, more perfect, more Dauntless. A resonance formed between every Grimblade, and every time one of them was empowered, Sylas himself seemed to grow stronger as it formed a feedback loop.
Sylas didn't know it now... but he had just fulfilled one of the requirements for forming an Empire.
Not just any Empire, but one of the very strongest—one built with the foundation of a Legendary Royal Hero Line.
Unable to withstand it, Sylas' jaw practically unhinged with his roar, a booming might radiating out in all directions.
His Grimblade Unique Gene returned, slotting right amongst his Legendary Genes.
It was the same for every Grimblade. His parents, his little sister, Noah and the others... But it was also the same for his wife. The Empress of the Grimblade Royal Hero Line was likewise blessed in inexplicable ways.
BOOM.
Sylas stepped into the ranks of B-Grade Human Simioid.
But his momentum showed little signs of stopping.
