Chapter 1567 Waste
Chapter 1567 Waste
Sylas didn't pay much attention to the rows of bronze-armored minotaurs at all. Instead, he was looking at a woman, the one figure among them who didn't fit in. Even among the Demon swarm, she seemed particularly demonic in a way that went beyond just her aura.
One of her legs was that of a spider's, oddly angled and covered in fine hairs. On the opposite side of her body, one of her arms was entirely formed of bio-tech-partly a swarm of nanobots and another part pulsing flesh. The shoulder itself had a reflective orb within that housed a miniature brain encased in liquid that allowed it to swivel and float.
As though all of this weren't enough of an oddity, her breasts were covered by hair that grew as thick as a gorilla's from her body, while the only thing on her lower half was a pair of metallic underwear that a particularly phallic object hung off the center of.
It was like she walked around with a perpetual strap-on everywhere she went.
All of this was packaged with a face that could only be said to border on perfection. However, given the clear scar that wrapped all the way around her neck, Sylas wasn't even sure if this monstrosity's original face or not.
"What the hell is that thing?"
Cassarae, still hanging off Sylas' shoulder, peeked around from his back to get a view of the chaos. She wasn't the best at controlling her mouth to begin with, and when she saw something like this, she couldn't help but comment on it.
"Sis, you need a complete makeover. There's absolutely no reason for you to look like that. What is wrong with you?"
The head of the woman tilted and her cherry lips parted. But before she could speak, Cassarae saw something wiggle on her neck, and her expression became weird.
"Is that an Adam's apple?"
The woman blinked, and then her cherry lips curled into a dangerous smile.
"Are you perhaps discriminating against me?"
"Discriminating? Woman, you have a spider leg for a foot and a metal dick between your legs. My opinion is the least of your worries. I would say you need some cock to get your head on straight, but it seems you've got enough to go around and that's not helping the look at all."
The woman's voice was also impossibly soothing. She seemed very aware of this, so when she saw Cassarae reply moments later without a care, she paused for a good long while.
"Well, that, and the fact I'm half convinced you're going to pull some summoning shit and turn your head 180 degrees. Really? What the fuck is wrong with you?"
Cassarae ranted without a care in the world. As she did so, Moose's jaw only clenched harder and harder, his head still buried in the earth.
This woman was the very person who had terrorized him for months now. But now Cassarae was speaking to her as though she was just anyone.
Sylas had yet to say anything from start to finish. In fact, even as Cassarae continued to insult the woman, the Demons continued to pour out, surrounding her at the center.
Sylas couldn't see through this woman at all. He couldn't even scan her to learn her name. She was like a blank slate, almost as though she didn't exist in the world at all.
It was like she was using the same concept Moose had moments ago, but on an unfathomable level, a tier that Sylas couldn't grasp.
But this was also precisely why Sylas didn't fear her.
She was both here, and yet not here at all. She couldn't interfere with any method outside of that voice of hers.
And trying to use that voice against him was little more than a child's hopeless dream.
The woman's smile only deepened the more Cassarae spoke. And then, she suddenly said something that made even Cassarae pause.
"Your ass looks nice. I think I might chop it off and take it for myself. What do you think?"
Cassarae was hanging like a sack of potatoes off Sylas' shoulder. The only way she could see what was happening was by curling her head all the way around.
That was to say that the most prominent part of her, at least to the woman, was definitely her ass.
For some reason, Cassarae, who wasn't a particularly shy person, suddenly felt very exposed. A cold chill crawled through her bones.
"I swear if I had a dog I'd chop you into a million pieces and feed you to it. What the fuck is wrong with you-?!"
"Sylas Grimblade, is it?" the woman cut Cassarae off before she got the ball rolling on her poisonous tongue. "I believe you received an invitation not long ago. Mind telling me why you haven't responded?"
She blinked almost cutely, but she didn't receive the response she thought she would.
Sylas only met her gaze for a moment before he looked toward the portal again.
"You know, you are very much like us," she continued, unperturbed. "I've seen your file. Your assessment is quite excellent, and you did what the useless members of this branch were unable to. You're willing to do whatever it takes to gain power. Your only weakness is that you rely too much on the boundaries of the world you're in to set the parameters for how far you're willing to go. If you got rid of that pesky little compass of yours, you'd be able to grow much faster, with far fewer scruples.
"Tell me, why haven't you tried to eat any humans yet?"
Her smile deepened, her lips seemingly getting redder... too red. It was like all the blood in her body was flooding toward them.
Sylas still didn't respond, his gaze so focused on the portal that it seemed as though it was the only thing in the world.
Slowly, Sylas' lips parted.
"You want to use this to take over my world? The same trick? I thought you would be smarter than this."
Sylas' gaze shifted over to her almost lazily.
"Why would you waste my time like this?"
Sylas' open palm clenched, and the Demon Portal collapsed.
The woman's eyes went wide.
