Chapter 1678 Are You Sure?

Chapter 1678 Are You Sure?

The threshold for many to feel imprisoned was quite high. Maybe darkness, some bars, some restraints.

For Sylas, that bar was actually quite low, regardless of how he acted.

What felt like long ago now, when he first got into business with the Grimblades, he had experienced maybe some of the worst moments in his life. He never spoke about them in such regard, and he hardly spared them the time even in his own inner thoughts, but that was how he had felt.

Tied to an heir he thought was inferior to him in every way, forced to listen to their orders and execute their missions... what else could he have been but a prisoner?

Yet, Sylas never complained. He did things at his pace. He listened to the Grimblades when it was appropriate, and only when it was the perfect time to split from them did he lash out and kill those that needed to be killed.

Unfortunately, back then, his targets were all F-tiers.

This time, it was an A-tier that seemed to have his best interest at heart. And yet there felt like there was something wrong about it all that Sylas couldn't quite put his finger on.

The worst part? Even with all his intelligence, he couldn't tell if he was just being paranoid or if he was truly trapped somewhere he could describe.

Either way, for someone else, it would be hard to say that you were actually a prisoner. How could you be, when you were gifted a mansion grand beyond comparison, resources that could have drowned every other organization you had ever been in combined a million times over, and granted freedom to go anywhere within a galaxy with the ease of a single step?

And, on top of all of this, you had the option to return home whenever you wanted.

That didn't make you much of a prisoner, now did it?

To Sylas, though, he might as well have been in a single one-by-one-meter cell.

But his expression wouldn't have shown it. It was the same as it always was—calm, unhurried, unbothered.

He didn't say much other than "thank you" when Fanelei gave him the keys to his mansion. He hardly blinked when he saw seas of Aetherstones, nor the countless amount of other resources he had never heard of.

Will Stones capable of improving your Will stat or even upgrading your Will to a new level?

Aether Refinement Stones capable of allowing you to sense Mancy and Aether Paths of the same category, but of much higher caliber?

Milky Dew Rivers one could take a dip into and accidentally reach a new tier just by a single touch of a toe?

There were things here that Sylas could have risked his life a million times over for-even on a Summoned Earth- and only received a fraction of. And yet it was here in spades.

The most shocking part? These treasures were just what was here for F-tiers, things that Fanelei had casually cobbled together with a wave of the hand and an indifferent sweep through the corners of their treasuries.

With the strength of the Weaver Guild, and the sheer amount of wealth and power they had, they had this abundance of wealth and resources even all the way up to the C-tier.

Their geniuses probably wanted and asked for nothing until they stepped into range of the B-tier, and even then the resources they had for that level and beyond were hardly things that Sylas could even begin to fathom.

If Sylas stayed here, he knew his progress would be nothing short of exaggerated.

With his intelligence, had he been brought to this place from the very start of Earth's Summoning, it would have taken him half a week to reach his current level of strength-barring his Rune Mastery and his special inheritances, of course.

And not a single one of these things seemed to even touch on Rune Mastery yet. The Will Stones vaguely did, but they weren't the true core, the true essence of what it meant to be a member of the Weaver Guild.

If these were the resources they had for normal warriors, what resources would they have for their specialty?

A prison, huh?

Indeed.

Why else would the one thing Sylas actually wanted not be here?

And yet, even now, he couldn't say if Fanelei was acting maliciously or not. Her words on the topic were very simple.

Even as her Legacy Disciple, their Guild had rules, they had laws.

If he wanted their most precious resources, then he was going to have to get them the way everybody else did.

When she said this, though, Sylas only asked her a simple question in return for her simple response.

"Are you sure?"

...

Fanelei stood in silence, watching Sylas leave the mansion she had given him without even a single look at the

resources.

She knew that Sylas understood their value. She knew that he was all too aware of how difficult they were to gather in his Sector, and how invaluable they were to him now.

There was even a library of Legendary Genes she had created just for him. These weren't just Core Legendary Genes, but Unique Legendary Genes as well, one for all sorts of paths.

There were countless Will Legendary Genes in there-ones that matched well with his Poison Will Aether, ones that could give him great Speed or great Strength, ones that could give his Aether the potency to poke a hole in the skies or rip right through the earth to the other side of the world.

And yet it was like when he was walking through, he was only casually scanning these things one by one, as though not to document what he could use, but instead to document what the world had to offer.

"Are you sure?"

The words echoed in her ears again and again, and then again.

Somehow it was a warning that didn't quite feel like a warning, a simple question that carried the weight of worlds.

The last time you tried to test me, you nearly used up a millennia's worth of energy in a single go.

Did you really want to do it again?
