Chapter 1687 Seeing Weaver
Chapter 1687 Seeing Weaver
Sylas should have received ten million Merits. In fact, because he used the true method and not the brute force method on just his first attempt, there should have been a multiplier. The calculations were complicated-as complex as one might imagine them being for a guild of Rune Masters-but the formula ultimately worked out to at least ten times the original.
That meant that the moment Sylas slapped down that last palm, he should have had over a hundred million Merits.
Yet, in the end, by the time he stepped out, he was left with only a million.
It could be declared that a million Merits was still a shocking number. Across the course of the F-tier, even the best would be lucky to accumulate around a tenth of that, maybe two-tenths if they were truly exceptional.
Malikhi himself, on his first run as an F-tier, was still shy of 300,000 Merits by the time he was ready to cross over into the E-tier.
However, because of the scaling system and the reduction calculations, to an F-tier, the buying power of a million Merits was practically an infinite world away from a hundred times that.
If Sylas had had a hundred million Merits, he would have been able to buy practically anything, even with the penalties. But now, he was extremely limited.
He could target the best items of the E-tier, maybe even the D-tier, but the C-tier and beyond... it was tough.
Of course, even if he had a hundred million, touching beyond the B-tier would have been impossible. But, to begin with, the A-tier resources here were already extremely limited.
The reason there were so many B-tiers here right now was because this was considered the highest level one could comfortably progress to within the walls of the guild. But even then, all the ambitious B-tiers had long left to their own adventures at the C-tier.
That was to say that the value of being able to buy anything between the F-tier to the C-tier would have been invaluable, but Sylas had lost that right.
In exchange, however...
Malikhi had a feeling that he had gained something far better.

'Seeing Weaver...'
Innately, Sylas knew what it was, and it was an ability he knew from the start would be invaluable to him.
The world was entirely constructed of Runes, but one's ability to see, influence, and use them was highly limited. Even weak worlds would have Runes at Tiers Sylas couldn't even begin to fathom, being powerful beyond belief.
When Sylas was in artificial and crafted worlds, his strength was always on another level. When he was battling a certain Ape Warlord, for example, despite the fact the latter's stats were over two million on average, Sylas was able to suffocate him because an E-tier world was still within his margin of control thanks to Runeweaver.
Had they been in an F-tier world, it could be said that he wouldn't have struggled nearly as much with Amende.
When Sylas stacked abilities like his Skill-suppressing Domain, or his Glassvolt Throne, any one of these things required precise control over the Runes in the world around him. The more real the world was, the more difficult it was for him to control and the weaker Sylas was overall.
Of course, when Sylas reached the heights of A-tier or even S-tier beyond in the future, the abilities he had now would only steamroll. Then he would have no need for an artificial world to be so powerful. But as of now, Sylas knew that his odds of defeating someone as strong or stronger than Amende in the outside world was near zero...
Until now.
Seeing Weaver's ability was simple. It allowed him to see the Runes of the world around him, comprehending and deconstructing them.
If he spotted someone cast a Skill, he wouldn't have to guess at what it did he could see the underlying Runes they were triggering through the help of the system and comprehend it to its deepest depths.
He could use this for his own Skills as well, allowing him to ultimately use his Rune Mastery as a bridge to accelerate all of his other abilities as well.
While this wouldn't be nearly as good as being in an artificial world, Sylas would no longer be as helpless.
Back in the E-grade World of the Sanctum's battlefield, Sylas hadn't been able to use [Glassvolt Throne] properly because E-grade Runes were too complicated for him to perfectly grasp.
But now? Now he wouldn't have such a problem.
Seeing Weaver's ability was simple.
It took the world and allowed him to see it in its simplest, most fundamental parts.
A situation where Sylas' abilities far lagged behind his Rune Mastery would never occur again, so long as this
Profession could keep up with him.
A hundred million Merits?
So what? It was worth an impossible amount more than that to Sylas.
