Chapter 1758: Call of the Titan (2)

Chapter 1758: Call of the Titan (2)

The value of Call of the Titan was absolutely invaluable right now. If he ignored his own limitations, for example, he could target any one of his Professions and instantly comprehend it to its deepest depths.

With that, gaining the Experience he needed to level them up would come with great ease, and he might even be able to lower the difficulty of progressing them through Tiers substantially. In fact, if this Call of the Titan was as powerful as it claimed to be, he might not need to survive a Profession Quest at all.

Progression without the slightest bottleneck. It was impossibly tempting.

But how could the current Sylas possibly withstand the might of comprehension it would take to withstand the full brunt of understanding for an S-tier Profession? Because that was what it would take.

His current self, the moment he used Call of the Titan, would have his brain jam-packed with all the information there was to have about these Professions from the F-tier to the S-tier in a single instant of time.

How could he withstand that?

The answer was that he couldn't.

No matter what idea he thought of, it had the same problem. His Classes would lead down the same Path. If he tried to comprehend Gogo's origins perfectly, not only would he be wasting the Call of the Titan on something Vipermancy would be capable of very soon, but he might still implode now.

Granted, "wasting" Call of the Titan might be his best option right now. Maybe, if he strived to unearth Gogo's origins completely, he could use Vipermancy to withstand most of the blow. Because it would be about Serpentes, his threshold for understanding would be much higher, and thus the odds that he would survive-while slim- would still be much better than doing anything else... Anything other than just using Call of the Titan on a single Skill or Gene Class Harmony.

Sylas had prolonged thought of using it like this. But the problem was that he had gone from one side of the scale way back to the other side.

How could he use such a powerful treasure on a single Skill?

Even if he used it on a Comprehension, or even on a Gene, unlike his Professions and Classes that were meant to progress, these weren't. Meaning, he could be wasting Call of the Titan to maximize something at the F-tier that would quickly become useless at the E-tier, and certainly at the D-tier.

It felt like there was no in-between. It was either he die, or he waste the treasure...

Either that or he wait.

But that had a problem as well. If he waited too long, why would he even need this treasure anymore? If he was already an S-tier, he was confident that he could comprehend anything on his own at that point.

The other "option" was to use Call of the Titan on his own Grimblade Bloodline... but that was absolutely idiotic.

He was the origin of the Grimblade Bloodline. What could it tell him that he didn't already know?

It could tell him the origins of something, not what it could become in the future. So, unless his Grimblade Bloodline was already perfect for S-tiers, this path would probably be the greatest waste of the Call of the Titan possible.

Sylas would have also loved to use it on his Archon Casting, but once again, he was the origin of this Rune Mastery Path.

It seemed that no matter where Sylas looked, there would be a problem with the choice.

The best odds of success he could think of were to maybe wait until he was in the D-tier or C-tier. On the way there, he would have to focus heavily on increasing his Wisdom as much as he could and then select something he felt he had about 30% or so odds of surviving a flood of information on.

Sylas felt that maybe the best options to choose at that point would be between his Monkey King Armor and something related to Gogo or maybe another Serpentes.

With the latter option, Vipermancy would boost his odds of survival. With the former option, he had his Madness Key, Champion Will, and his Void Rune Mastery itself to help out.

Although he had also personally created this Armor and was technically the origin, the difference here was that the Armor was born from the Will of the Monkey King itself. So, Sylas was more technically a bridge than he was the actual origin.

However...

Sylas didn't want to do this. He felt it was a waste.

He had so much confidence in his Rune Mastery that he would never use Call of the Titan on anything related to it. By extension, his Pride was his greatest Virtue-why did he need help to understand the Monkey King at all?

In addition, why waste the Call of the Titan on something Vipermancy would already help him to do soon enough as well?

So what would Sylas do if he had no limits? If he had the option to pick anything out of a hat? If he could take a gamble on his life?

He didn't even need to think very hard. He had already known the answer the moment he saw the description.

Reaper Sealwright.

There was no better answer.

The Call of the Titan represented something that Sylas wanted to avoid at all costs-that being a reliance on the system and system-adjacent things to strengthen himself.

However, a Profession was already the embodiment of system help. It existed as a conduit to the system, allowing you to essentially interface with the backend of the system to accomplish tasks that would be impossible for you alone.

And Reaper Sealwright was exactly the right target for this.

It was extremely difficult to progress, the Sloth of all people was hunting him down for its origins, and even at Level O... it had helped Sylas win several battles against extremely powerful opponents already.

But of all his Professions, using Call of the Titan on this one would be by far the most dangerous. It wasn't even close.

So that left Sylas one question.

How could he do it anyway?
