Chapter 1788: Easy

Chapter 1788: Easy

[Call of the Reaper (Profession Upgrade Quest) (Legendary)]

The Call of the Reaper whispers to you. Face its howls and maintain your sanity. Or lose it. Either works so long as you weather the storm. But the final outcome will only be dependent on yourself. Whether it breaks you or builds will decide how far you go.

[Clear Requirements]

[> Sense the E-tier Death Seal]OR[> Sense the E-tier Life Seal]

When Sylas saw the Quest, he knew that Call of the Titan had been worth it. There was absolutely zero chance the Quest would have been this simple without it.

It had to be remembered that Professions were unique in how much they relied on the system. In fact, the vast majority of their power came from the system.

Every time Sylas used his Professions, he was relying on the system to do a lot of processing for him. Otherwise, he would be completely overwhelmed.

As such, the system wanted to ensure you were worthy long before it granted you more of its processing power.

For such a complicated and powerful Profession to ask so little of its user... was impossible.

The only reason something like this would happen was if the system felt like Sylas had taken enough of its burden away that it could easily justify it.

And that was more than the case.

Sylas was someone who could see the Profession to the end. The system would continually give him an easy Quest to fulfill because it wouldn't have to put as much effort into him as compared to anyone else using Reaper Sealwright.

The irony of this was that without Call of the Titan, Sylas would never be able to fulfill the requirements of this Quest so easily. Sensing the E-tier Seals was essentially like trying to deduce their form. But unless one fully understood the F-tier Seals, that was impossible.

Without Call of the Titan, Sylas wouldn't have been able to. But first, he would have needed to realize that the Seals were Rune Mastery Legacies and not just casual treasures to be used. Depending on how things went, that might take a while. But what would have really taken him a long time to do was to comprehend every Rune within the mesh.

Doing so without Call of the Titan would easily take him months of focused attention. Given how busy he was, it would take him years even with his F-tier Void Rune Mastery. That was how complex it all was.

Yet, thanks to the chance Sylas had taken...

[Profession Upgrade Quest <Call of the Reaper> Cleared]

[Perfect Clearance]

[Free Experience Rewarded]

Sylas looked at his Profession screen only to see that Reaper Sealwright had improved all the way to Level 100.

That definitely wasn't normal. It was an extra reward, likely due to that Perfect Clearance notification.

"Is that because I sensed both E-tier Seals at the same time?"

The original Quest had said OR, but Sylas had decided to do both. There had been no need for him to decide between the two anyway, so he had just thought... why not?

The results spoke for themselves.

[Call of the Reaper (Profession Upgrade Quest) (Legendary)]

[> Sense the D-tier Death Seal]OR[> Sense the D-tier Life Seal]

It seemed that his life moving forward would truly be orders of magnitude easier.

He had wasted almost all the rewards he had gotten from risking his life to become a Cryst Emperor. The only reward that was left was one likely manipulated by the God Thryskai, a Royal Hero Line Quest they possibly expected to end up killing him at some point.

That could hardly be called a treasure at all, though it had given him valuable information.

But in the end, Sylas felt he was right to do it.

This was far better than anything he had gained.

"It will take me much longer to grasp the E-tier Seals."

It wasn't just because the E-tier was far larger than the F-tier one, but also because he wasn't yet as skilled in E- tier Runes. He was only a Spark Master, he wasn't yet a Pure Spark Master, or a Void Spark Master.

He was far from satisfied with that.

It wasn't worth it to try with the E-tier what he had with the F-tier Seals. It would take him years to finish. It was more efficient to first improve his Rune Mastery, then try.

"It won't be long," Sylas thought confidently.

Sylas pulled out Salivar's corpse, his eyes flashing. He raised the E-tier Life Seal and pressed it down.

Salivar's chest was imprinted with the Runes as though it had become a tattoo on his chest. They rotated in relation to one another almost like an etched abacus. It really did seem like they were trying to calculate something.

There were really only two things Sylas was interested in on Salivar's body. The first wasn't as important to him as the second, but it was still interesting nonetheless... The Void Domain.

The reason it wasn't as interesting to him was because the Weaver Guild almost certainly had a method of casting the void too. After all, Sylas had been spawned in a void-like region. In fact, that was where he had learned how to use it.

So, this wasn't some super rare ability he was only just stumbling onto now. Higher-level powers definitely had many iterations of this in some sort of variation.

But, it would be nice to have a method of his own even if he found or created something better on his own later.

What really caught Sylas' attention the most, though, wasn't this... it was the method Salivar had used to use multiple Comprehensions at the same time... maybe the number one reason Sylas had struggled so much against

him.
